No Shinnie or Christie???

Wtf Strachan.

I agree we should keep the same team who should've beaten England but bringing in Whittaker and excluding them?

Thought Al had stopped going to games by then?

  • Aberdeen winning the Scottish Cup and Scotland qualifying for the World Cup within six months of each other, that's the dream. And yet, within those six months, both Jimmy Thelin and Steve Clarke

Saw an article today that says Clarke is in discussion with James tavernier playing for Scotland since he’s eligible having been here 10 years with no England call up. Don’t see it anywhere else, fake news????

The weegie tabloid press do this before every important international event. It's bollocks.

Ah, I didn't think that was still a thing. The papers are useful for one thing then. Maintaining an unfunny tradition.

Amongst other football ones on the go today was one stating that Wales would be replacing Iran at the World Cup

Ffs. Wasn’t even aware it was! Apologies 😂

April Fool's Day has lost its meaning thanks to the proliferation of fake news on a daily basis.

Who would fall for that. Everyone knows it will be Russia.

Obviously, you fell for an April Fool's, but as it goes he should be eligible because the five-year residency rule exists in other countries, but the home nations pact means he isn't.

Instead, he needs to have spent five years at school in Scotland to be eligible, or have at least a Scottish grandparent.

Never mind, Anthony Ralston will always be available.

Fingers crossed Hickey and Paterson both go though Paterson did not seem to have that impetus to get forward and burst of pace we have seen from him before n dark blue those last two games (albeit I did only see bits and pieces of the IC game).  Hickey is due back for Brentford after this international break so hopefully he will be back up to speed come June.

Thoughts on this from John McGlynn re Calvin Miller other than the obvious "it's not going to happen"?  There's no question he's had a very strong season and you could make a strong argument he has made far more of a claim than Curtis.  Right now I would certainly take him over Conway or Hirst 2bh.

John McGlynn hopes Falkirk will have two players in Scotland's World Cup squad as he backed winger Calvin Miller to emulate Scott Bain and make a late dash for inclusion.

Goalkeeper Bain became the first Bairns player to be capped since 2008 when he played the second half of Tuesday's friendly defeat by Ivory Coast in Liverpool.

The 34-year-old has a strong chance of making Steve Clarke's squad for the showpiece in America and McGlynn reckons 28-year-old Miller - one of the standout wingers in the Premiership this term - is also in the reckoning.

"We don't have too many wingers, so Calvin would give you a lot of options, because he can play either side and he's got great delivery," said manager McGlynn, who signed Miller from Morton in 2023.

"I'm sure he was in Steve Clarke's thoughts, because when you look about, we've not got an awful lot to change to. You're looking at Ben Gannon-Doak and then Findlay Curtis.

"So if you want to go with wingers, it's difficult [for Clarke]. A lot of the teams in Scotland play with wing-backs, so it's not like Steve's got loads of wingers to choose from.

"I think fans in general love to see wingers taking players on. Calvin's got great flair, great pace, he's got skill, he's what you pay to see, and now he's doing it at the top level."

Miller was loosely linked with Celtic in January and McGlynn is braced for interest this summer.

"As a football club we've not had any interest," he said. "There seemed to be some interest in January, but it was never between club to club.

"Would I expect it? I would actually expect it, yeah, but he's got another year on his contract, so we'll see what happens."

Another Falkirk player McGlynn feels can make an impact for the national team is Scotland Under-21 forward Barney Stewart, who has scored nine goals for the Bairns since returning from a loan stint at Dunfermline in January.

"I think Barney will [play for Scotland]," said McGlynn.

"I'm not suggesting he'll be in the World Cup squad, he's just broken on to the scene and he's hit the ground running, so the sky's the limit.

"In time we would love him to be involved in it, but Scotland have got options in there, so the World Cup might just come a little bit early for Barney.

"But I'd like to think if he continues to do well, he'll get an opportunity to go to a European Championship or a World Cup."

Interesting stat, according to the bbc, George Hirst 9 goals and 1 assist this year, Ollie McBurnie 13 goals and 7 assists. We’re pretty awful up top, not a fan, but mcburnie an option??

It's a resounding NO from me

Had forgotten about Ross Stewart who is playing for Southampton tonight. Maybe a better shout than Dykes and Hirst.

Good call, but Ah would keep Hirst in the mix .. Ah mean, FFS, we've given Dykes an' fkn Adams plenty time. Ah'd be happy tae tak three good hidins at the World cup if we at least found a decent striker for the future .... cos right now, we have nothin' !

Haven’t seen much of hirst, certainly not in a Scotland top, and not a fan of mcburnie, but his stats this year aren’t bad. No clue about Ross Stewart.

Bigger picture, does it matter? Much like Aberdeen, minimal width and creativity so very few chances created for these guys.

Excuse my ignorance on this matter but when does the provisional squad get announced ?

Ten minutes before the flight. They've all just to turn up at Glasgow airport and Clarke is going to point to the ones going. Ralston to get a reprieve as John Souttar didn't check the expiry on his passport. All live on telly.

Not long after the cup final maybe? I have no idea but that's what my guess would be.
