Indeed, there was a lot of tongue in cheek in my response. It’s incredible when you compare White Rabbit with We Built This City. I think drugs are doing a lot of the heavy lifting on both ends of that spectrum, probably a perfect bell curve of what happens when you munch a shit load of psychedelics.

He can be a tough listen but is a beautiful songwriter. Always feel others have done a better job of his songs.

Never got Dylan, just doesn't connect with me at all. That whiny voice of his iratates the hell out of me.

my view on him hasn't softened over the years.

For some reason, I have the DVD of the film about him to watch.

Not sure if I'll bother.

Think Ive grown to dislike Dylan more,the older Ive got.Dont disagree that he was a pioneer of his age,and a talented songwriter.Possibly more to do with him as a person.I can listen to a few of his songs before his voice annoys me

Re Elton john - His 70s stuff was good,but his 80s stuff especially,seemed like it was just been churned out quickly and cheaply for max profit...with the odd exception eg 'Guess thats why they all it the blues'

   I thought I was immovable from my bluesy/ rock orientated listen(and as a former drummer therein)...still delve into it these days when ness,....but have definitley broadened my musical horizons of late,eg 'the Roving' song on the previous page,folk,the Big band sound,Classic even..in small doses.

   Agreed abou Jazz,something Ive never gotten into.Indulgent drivel.I'll exempt Oscar Petersen from that though,fantastic pianist

How the fuck can this album be fifty years old next year.

Famous for often being quoted as the biggest selling live album of all time (but it isn't, that is Clapton's - Unplugged) and also his extensive use of the talk box, this album blew me away in 1976 and still regularly gets played by myself. I have had the pleasure to see him live on five occasions since it's release including the FCA 35th anniversary tour when he played the album in it's entirety at The Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow back in November 2011.

Still sounds great fifty years on

The first two albums by German group Neu! were given an outing today.

Sounded excellent. First time I'd listened to them in a while

Not as big a name here as he was in the States, where he was huge.

Worked with a guy years ago who was a big fan of his music and tried to get me into him and other stuff like Styx, Boston and REO Speedwagon, but just not ever been my thing.

The guy I worked with, I don't think I'll ever see a record collection like that again. Thousands upon thousands of LPs, Singles, CDs, Tapes and even Eight Tracks (I shit you not).

Dressed like a tramp and had no other interests, bar his music. He was married with two kids, but his music still came first. He counted everything by the value of records.

If he went out for a drink, each pint was the price of a single. If he bought a round, it was an album.

Needless to say, he didn't go out much. 

When Fopp opened years ago and started selling CDs at about £5, the collection got even bigger.

I discovered last year that he died around 2017, aged just 62. Would love to know what happened to his collection. Remembering his Wife, there was a good chance she burnt them.

He gave me, amongst other records, the first four Led Zeppelin albums, when I was 16. All originals, one of them is supposedly quite a rare edition. Never played them as have never been my cup of tea. The only album he ever gave me that I liked, was the 49p tapes by Faust, because I like all that experimental shyte (his words).
