I was only half watching it today so didn't get a proper look at it.

My take though was Derek McInnes made a mistake by naming a two-man midfield, especially with Baningime out. In the last few weeks, Hibs and Motherwell have demolished our midfield by adding an extra man. We looked like we could pass through their midfield pretty easily at times.

It also looked like three at the back from Hearts. We're not a team that pepper the opposition box with crosses, so it looked like a man wasted from Hearts, and in the first half we always had an extra man outside their box getting to second balls.

In the second half we gave the ball away and invited pressure. It looked like a 6-3-1 formation once Shinnie and the rest came on, we had no out ball.

Still improvements needed but will take the three points.

The orcs are pretty scathing about him switching to a back three.

He always did like a random tinker to ‘match up’ to people in big games. Overthought it. Interesting to see how they handle their momentum being halted. I thought they were shite today.

The highlights up on the big screen today, before kick off, was the Aberdeen 6 Hearts 2 game from 1992.

It was a truly wonderful match and just how good was Duncan Shearer.

❤️❤️❤️

I think my favourite domestic match at Pittodrie. Loved that team/squad.

I remember phoning my dad from a phone box in King Street straight after to rave about us.

I can’t believe it’s 33 years ago, I can still hear Scottie Booths goal hitting off the underside of the bar.

28th November 1992, or 33 years ago this Friday.

I had only just turned 19.

Our line up...
Snelders, Wright, McLeish, Irvine, Smith, Bett, Grant, Richardson, Jess, Mason, Shearer.

Subs: Booth & Kane

Scorers: Irvine, Shearer x3, Mason & Booth.

We'd be winning the lot with that team today.

Great result but that was a hard watch at times. Cannot fault teams work rate but we struggled to retain ball and created little. Keskinen took his goal well but match winner was Jack Milne for block in second half. Subs as someone has already said were terrible. Made at wrong time and too many at once. Hearts even taking injuries into consideration did not look like a good side. They will get caught by Victims. Train back was fun. Think I was getting lynched if my phone “accidentally” played Joy Division one more time.

How we won that yesterday I will never know but will take it, but I hope this is not a sign of things to come as that was pretty dire stuff. First half was ok second half we were awful

Thought Jack Milne was our best player by a country mile, Armstrong was also decent and to be fair to Topi he had one of his better games, the rest of them were pretty much meh. I know Milanovic was only on the park for about 10 mins but even that is 10 minutes too much
We really need to be starting especially our home games with two up front, Lazetic seems to struggle in the lone striker role in the same way that Nisbet does. I would really like to see the two of them playing along side each other as I am sure that could be the answer to our goal scoring problems.

A win is a win and great to burst the diets bubble, but we do need to play much much better

He'd have been a slightly better match winner if he hadn't missed the original header! As he did in the first half too. In fact, if you go through their chances, there was probably only one created from a good move (the lad on the left getting deep into our box before being crowded out). Milne got caught under the long ball in either half, Knoester did similar in the second, losing a ball he seemed to have under control, and then Devlin tried a difficult pass back instead of just clearing it for a throw. The rest of their opportunities came from set pieces (albeit there were maybe a couple of good moves to win corners).

Meant to add had forgotten what bigoted bastards there are in Hearts support. As vile as their Ibrox based cousins. Definitely not diets as folk call them.

I can't agree with you on that BUS. He has to sit very deep, due to us playing not to get beat,  but he still puts in a shift and does a lot of donkey work.

Like you, I'd like to see two up front, but just don't see us having to personnel to change too much formation wise at the moment.

If we could get out of our own half a bit more and better decision making in the final third, we may well see Lazetic and Nisbet score again.

I fell sorry for Nisbet mostly. Gets chucked on for the final few minutes to chase shadows and that isn't what he is about.

The guy who sits next to me in the South Stand goes way OTT in his abuse of Nisbet when he comes in. Just some folk you can't reason with.

3-5-2, 3-3-2-2, or 3-4-1-2. We played a 3-5-2 against Motherwell, with Karlsson and Lazetic central, but we quickly shifted back to the 3-4-3 because the midfield struggled (that was the game that Armstrong looked knackered anyway). In my opinion, the 3-1-4-2, with Clarkson (or Polvara if we must) sitting in front of the defence, with two in front would work nicely. Similarly, two sitting, with Armstrong ahead would work fine too. I'd argue that none of these work particularly well with Karlsson in the side, but I find it bizarre that we haven't tried any of these options when looking for something to change a game, instead insisting that Nisbet comes on as a lone striker in abject failure, every single time.

they would have won the lot as well if the BitB weren't the BitB.I can't remember if it was that season or the season before, we scored about 70 goals in the league but had no penalties given... funny that.

Shearer, Mixu, Booth and Jess had over sixty in the league between them in 92-93. Mental. Don't remember the pens stat though.

There's been some chat online that our defence is 'sorted' because we have had a few clean sheets recently and it's absolute nonsense.  Our defence is improved but if Hearts take their chances yesterday they win comfortably.   It doesn't help that Mitov seems to be becoming increasingly uneasy at coming for high balls and we seem to be getting at least one erratic moment per game from him too.

Yesterday was one of those games where we deserved it because we managed to score and the opposition didn't but we were very fortunate to deserve it if you ask me.
