manc_don Posted Friday at 04:38 Report Posted Friday at 04:38 Big test of where we’re at now as a team, and our third game against them already this season. They were pumped on the weekend, so probably hurting a wee bit, but certainly didn’t think they outplayed us in the first game, but got the rub of the green. how do we see ourselves lining up? Think given Gyamfi is back, we need him playing and Lobban hasn’t done anything that deserves him being dropped. Will obviously be Lazetic up top as it’s not happening for any of the other strikers. out bed bed work 1-0 dons, Devlin. Quote
Jute2 Posted Friday at 07:47 Report Posted Friday at 07:47 (edited) Would expect Gyamfi to start at left back and Lobban at right back. The three centre backs that played last night probably need to go again. Midfield is interesting one as not convinced by Aouchiche at all and have said before just don’t think Polvara is suited for Scottish football. Would expect Shinnie to come back in but not sure who we play in along side him. Armstrong definitely needs to play further forward. Up front we have an issue as we do not seem to have a natural goal scorer. Nisbet is probably closest but system we are playing is not allowing him to get into positions to score. We were unlucky to lose last league game against Motherwell* and hopefully can get the breaks they got in our favour this time. In train then pub Y pub then train 1-0 Karlsson * or that was my morphine effected view of the game. Edited Friday at 07:49 by Jute2 Quote
BigAl Posted Friday at 08:48 Report Posted Friday at 08:48 Out Golf (weather permitting) Red TV or Motherwell TV if the stream on Red TV is its usual pish Nothing much 3-1 Armstrong, Lazetic & Yengi @Jute2 I wasn't on morphine and would agree with your analysis of the game at Fir Park. For ninety minutes I thought we looked as much like winning that game as we did losing it tbh Quote
Elgindon Posted Friday at 12:45 Report Posted Friday at 12:45 In - Section Y Hopefully start seeing consistency of line up for the league games at least.Lot of our build is a bit scrappy possibly due to lack of continuity. If Gyamfi becomes a regular on the left, and Lobban on the right could we make use of Devlin in midfield to do the dirty work til we get a proper grafter in there?(and yes, thats more inconsistency of line up meantime) Dons 3 - Well 1. Lazetic hat trick Quote
Panda Posted Friday at 13:06 Report Posted Friday at 13:06 Would like to see Shinnie and Clarkson in midfield, and Gyamfi starting. Other than that, same team as Thursday. 19 minutes ago, Elgindon said: could we make use of Devlin in midfield to do the dirty work til we get a proper grafter in there? With Dorrington and Tobers injured, Devlin will be at RCB for the foreseeable. Quote
TheDonbytheDee Posted Friday at 15:22 Report Posted Friday at 15:22 In - South Stand. Like to see a bit more threat upfront. Nothing else is coming off for us in the final third, so would try two up front. Hope Lobban keeps his place, if Gyamfi is back in at LB/LWB. Quote
swaddon Posted Friday at 22:51 Report Posted Friday at 22:51 I'm quite optimistic after some of the recent results, so I think we will win. Mind you, nearly 40 years of supporting the Dons and I have yet to learn my lesson when it comes to being optimistic. 2 Quote

That said, I was raging after the Hibs game two weeks ago. Saturdays are shyte when the Dons aren't playing. Sunday fitba is a massive downside to European games. 1 Quote
Mason89 Posted yesterday at 09:54 Report Posted yesterday at 09:54 I’m fairly confident. Their manager seems to prefer pretty football over results 3-0 Aberdeen 1 Quote

A win, especially a convincing or even a solid win, and I think the support will largely draw a line under the shit start to the season and we can all just focus on moving forward rather than should we change the manager. It would also be a very nice to be going into the home game against Hearts post International break with a spring in our step cos I would fucking love to pop the Jambo bubble. Expecting changes due to euro efforts and I would defo be looking to bring Gyamfi in from the start. The little we have seen of him I've been pretty impressed and I think he would cope well with Maswanhise who looks to be the one that makes thinks happen for Motherwell. I would assume Shinnie will be back in but I have to say I thought Aouchiche did not to bad in the centre on Thursday. In A96 Main A96 3-1 dons and I'll go with 3 first goal of the season scorers in Nisbet, Keskinen and Milanovic to make amends for his miss in Cyprus and give it proper big licks. 1 Quote

This with bells on. Would love it to be us that burst their bubble. I'd forgive Jimmy a lot of wrongs if we managed that. 2 Quote
Elgindon Posted yesterday at 17:34 Report Posted yesterday at 17:34 Canna be far off the 'falling apart' time of the season anyway.Sweet if we get the ball rolling. Quote
swaddon Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago Jimmy says that the team looks like it has turned a corner with recent results. So this means we're getting battered tomorrow. 1 Quote

blowupsheep Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago If he finally goes with two up front (Lazetic and Niisbet) we will win this easily abut 3-0. But going with the usual Jimmy approach of the one up top single striker then 0-0 or 1-1 at best. Quote

TheDonbytheDee Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago A near sell out for today. We've supposedly reduced the away allocation for this one and opened it up for additional dandies. Not an issue for me as Motherwell don't usually take up much support. Don't want to see us reduce away allocations otherwise Quote
TheDonbytheDee Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago Game day and as much as I dislike Sunday fitba, looking forward to it. Third time lucky fir us against this lot. Three points will leave us in a good place going into the next break. COYR Quote
Elgindon Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago 700 tickets left.Decent turn out given our mixed form. Higher proportion than usual of decent sides in the league this season, including 'Well. We're picking up results, looked good in glimpses, but still not convincing enough. After their stuffing last weekend,an early goal might get things going.Looking forward to it... COYR 1 Quote
Radiored Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago Looking forward tae this one .... nae idea far the goals are comin' fae, but encouraged by recent defensive displays. Ah reckon if we can shut up shop again, we might nick a 1-0 three pointer .... COYR. 1 Quote
OneBrianIrvine. Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Strangely confident about this one. Again no idea how we’ll line up. Is it arrogant to say it’s Motherwell at home and we really shouldn’t be needing three at the back? Probably given they’ve already beaten us twice this season. But horses for courses and like BUS would love to see us try playing Marko off someone. Hope we stick with the two young FB’s either way. Jensen needs taken out for his own good, he’s been much better on the left but folk are itching to have a go at him. Feels like the cretins who were on Mackenzies back have just moved their ire. And as ever hope we see Clarkson. 1 Quote

And as ever hope we see Clarkson. I don't think three at the back means being defensive though, it's just a different shape. One that suits our defenders a bit better. It also suits our fullbacks, who are fairly shite at defending. Agree about Jensen, although I think a lot will depend on whether we want Lobban to have quite so many games when breaking through. Not that the fans will consider that, and will likely jump on Jensen's back the minute he decides not to float a ball into the box from deep with no strikers in the middle, but passes backwards. Also agree on the front two. If we're ever to see Nisbet do anything in a Dons shirt again, we need to play him in a two or not at all. I think Karlsson is actually not really producing much, and wouldn't be averse to resting him for this one and going with a 3-5-2, with Karlsson from the bench when we're 5 up. I'd also start Clarkson, perhaps even behind Shinnie and Armstrong in a 3-1-4-2 (or 3-3-2-2? I don't think it's got a name, and I claim the formation as my invention). 1 Quote
