Sounds like a tenacious, battling type but likes a foul and can go in heavy at times. He’ll win a lot of balls but don’t expect him to move the ball forward in any form. Hopefully, the other more creative, technical types around him can do the neat, progressive work while he does the heavy lifting on the physical side. Worth a shot as we’ve been over run in the middle of the park since around Oct 2023. I know Ambrose looked good on YouTube, but I’ve seen much more on YouTube of this guy than you say. Forward passes, driving with the ball, shots, goals. I’m def intrigued, very much the Rama type who will play forward too, not just win the ball. Quote
Blow.Up.Sheep Posted Friday at 06:41 Report Posted Friday at 06:41 Best comment I have read somewhere about our new signing is "Afeez Heed" .............. now that did make me laugh Anyway welcome to the Dons min and all the best. Quote
Blow.Up.Sheep Posted Friday at 07:02 Report Posted Friday at 07:02 Just watched his "welcome" interview on Red TV and to be fair to him he genuinely appears to be buzzing to be with us, so fair play to him for that. Say's himself that he is aggressive and nasty on the pitch. Looking forward to his first encounter agaisnt the unwashed hun scum. Jist point out Bag Eyes Barron to him. The just sit back and enjoy the show 2 Quote

Lord knows we need a bit of bite and composure in the middle. I'd argue that Ramadani never added either of those. What he did add was legs and being first to second balls. When Goodwin insisted on playing Ramadani, for months, in front of the defence taking the ball from them and trying to link play, he was absolutely terrible. He wasn't particularly physical either. As soon as Robson moved him alongside Shinnie, ahead of Clarkson we were flying. They were both tenacious and quick to every second ball, with Ramadani great at intercepting and closing down, without requiring to be particularly strong in the tackle. I'm not saying he shirked a challenge, just that he was not particularly aggressive. He was just everywhere. There's a good argument to say that we could have had what Ramadani offered via Aouchiche if either manager had recognised it, as his coverage and closing were both excellent. I'm really hoping that Leven (and beyond) doesn't make the mistake Goodwin did with Ramadani with the new lad by playing him as a sitting defender. He doesn't strike me as the type who is best utilised sitting deep, but rather pressing high and all over. That's based on YouTube and stats though. 2 Quote

BigAl Posted Friday at 11:11 Author Report Posted Friday at 11:11 So guys, the talk when the window opened was a goalkeeper, a central defender, a defensive midfielder, a striker and a winger. Just over three days to go and we have got all of those apart from the winger. Anyone got any realistic idea of potential targets to fill that position Quote

Apart from the obvious highlight of netting his penalty on 24th May '25, I'd like to thank him for the goal in Frankfurt Quote
BigAl Posted Friday at 17:46 Author Report Posted Friday at 17:46 Apologies about the source it is however worthy of sharing for Polvara's thoughts on AFC Wish him well https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/dante-polvara-reveals-hibs-transfer-36645437 1 Quote
TheDonbytheDee Posted Friday at 18:20 Report Posted Friday at 18:20 All the best Dante min. Some thought you were too lightweight for Scottish football, but you had more balls than most, when you stepped up and put away that penalty last May. Regardless of what anyone thought of him, he will always be known as an AFC Scottish Cup winner. Not many can claim that. 3 Quote
blinlemon Posted Friday at 19:16 Report Posted Friday at 19:16 I saw him as a bit of a lightweight initially, and wondered if he had it. He proved that my doubts were misplaced in the cup semi-final, and the final, as well as being handy in Europe. He’s the kind of player that from now until summer, in dour struggles with those fuckwads with whom we share a league, we’ll be saying, “Ach, if only the yankee boy wis here”. Good luck, Dante min, min 3 Quote
BigAl Posted Friday at 19:49 Author Report Posted Friday at 19:49 There has never been any official confirmation of our interest in Partick's Stanway but there is an opportunity to have a look at him playing for Patrick tonight. He is wearing No:26 1 Quote

swaddon Posted Friday at 22:47 Report Posted Friday at 22:47 "Dante Polvara says Aberdeen will always have a "special place" in his heart after the American midfielder sealed a permanent move to MLS side St Louis City." We've heard that type of thing before, Dante. Just don't ruin it by taking the Hun Pound. 1 Quote

OrlandoDon Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Still expecting a winger and defender to come in, any other names floating around out there? who else is leaving?? Quote
The.Moog Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Well we’re gonna need another CH after today. Why don’t we try something different and go sign one who can actually win a header and clear his lines in the box. Crazy talk I know… Quote

The lad was starting to look like a half decent player a few weeks ago. The fact he’s going to Schalke suggests he is still sought after. Yep, it's been a disaster. Again, it's the balance. I mentioned in his very first game at Pittodrie that Aouchiche wasn't a number ten but looked decent deeper. He'd clearly been bought to play further forward. We then bought Armstrong, the perfect replacement for McGrath (who should never have been let go for a quibble over a year), who has since been played deeper, where he's a liability defensively. Clarkson spent the whole time on the bench, save for a few European outings on the right wing. We've since loaned a Hun who plays number ten, but has to come deep to involve himself because he doesn't have the strength or pace to play in the hole, meaning that there's no room for Clarkson and Armstrong still has to be played in the wrong place. A good manager would immediately have played Shinnie alongside Aouchiche with either Clarkson behind or Armstrong in front, with a view to getting a Shinnie replacement in asap. I'm concerned that Aouchiche was not in the team the last few weeks because Leven didn't understand his role. I'm also concerned that if that isn't the case that the only reason we signed the Nigerian lad is because Aouchiche is leaving, rather than because it was absolutely imperative that we signed such a player since before the summer window opened. I can just about understand the loan of Morrison, with Tobers still on the books. But the fact that we decided to bring in an inexperienced youth is just awful squad building once again. If we genuinely believed Milne or Knoester was an issue, then what would a youngster solve? Quote

If we genuinely believed Milne or Knoester was an issue, then what would a youngster solve? I think it’s simply buying time for a new manager and shedding wages for a bigger summer. Get money off the books, and not commit to contracts. In theory, with our structure, the club signs players for a manager to coach, but good that they want a managers input at least. Afeez being the exception, but I don’t think that’s a lot of money and the upside is clear, plus we got karlsson and yengi, Polvara to a lesser extent, prob aouchiche, off the books. still don’t understand Cameron though, unless permanently signing is possible.
