Elgindon Posted yesterday at 17:46 Report Posted yesterday at 17:46 (edited) Nothing on AFC or BBC yet but lot of people saying it now.Sad if so but prob for the best... Edited yesterday at 17:47 by Elgindon Quote
The.Moog Posted yesterday at 17:50 Report Posted yesterday at 17:50 (edited) Well, well - he’s gone. I’m genuinely surprised but fair play Dave, you’ve done the right thing at a time where the new guy has a chance to get some of his own players in. Askou for me, incredibly impressive what he’s done at Motherwell. Thanks for the cup Jimmy, but you’ve just not cut it here at all I’m afraid son… Edited yesterday at 17:52 by The.Moog Quote
Nordicus Posted yesterday at 17:54 Report Posted yesterday at 17:54 they likely accepted his wish to leave this time Quote
TheDonbytheDee Posted yesterday at 17:59 Report Posted yesterday at 17:59 Very surprised. I reckon if he's gone, he lost the players and as we well know, only one outcome. I personally thought he was here for the season. The Cup will ensure his name in the history books and rightly so. but that winning league run at the start of last season was immense. One of my favourite periods following the Don's. Singing ,'fuck you Celtic, we're gonna win the league'. was a great feeling. Was never going to happen, but it fairly upset certain sections of the media, which made the Cup win that bit more sweeter. All the best Jimmy. I'm sure you'll be back managing before long. Quote
Mason89 Posted yesterday at 18:02 Report Posted yesterday at 18:02 Nice chap, shit tactics Hopefully the next guy plays 4 at the back and tells his keeper to punt it 1 Quote
Kowalski Posted yesterday at 18:03 Report Posted yesterday at 18:03 Genuinely sad it hasn’t worked out but it’s definitely the right move by the club and hopefully somebody can take a fresh look at some of the fringe players. 1 Quote

Oh, and some midfielders to cover the back 4 and get forward to support the attack, some wingers and a striker or two As a minimum… Quote
swaddon Posted yesterday at 18:14 Report Posted yesterday at 18:14 He was a good lad and he won us the cup and had us believing for a while at the start of last season that we could be contenders, but it just didn't work out for whatever reason. All the best to him, unless he joins another club in Scotland. 1 Quote

TheDonbytheDee Posted yesterday at 18:27 Report Posted yesterday at 18:27 It's on the P&J site as well now. Poor communication from the club, if this news is correct. Quote
Elgindon Posted yesterday at 18:28 Report Posted yesterday at 18:28 Definetley sacked rather than resigned or mutually agreed? Quote

2stars Posted yesterday at 18:36 Report Posted yesterday at 18:36 Sad but inevitable. Thanks for the Scottish Cup and the winning start that had us believing in something special- just feel that stubbornness during the first poor run and the constant changing didn’t help with consistency and patterns of play. As for the players - Jimmy was right yesterday- some of them do need to have a hard look in the mirror - no pride, no heart, and no matter what tactics are employed your minimum output should be 100% effort Quote
redordead Posted yesterday at 18:44 Report Posted yesterday at 18:44 Feel sorry for him but it was inevitable. The tactics haven't worked for a long time and the team were too comfortable with mediocrity. Everything was too slow and nice. Time for a new broom and a clear out. Time for a new manager and a new skipper to change the mentality. Quote
Kowalski Posted yesterday at 18:45 Report Posted yesterday at 18:45 Scott Booth until the end of the season. Player/manager. Quote

Elgindon Posted yesterday at 18:56 Report Posted yesterday at 18:56 Class from Thelin there - “Today my time as manager at Aberdeen comes to an end. It is with great respect for this historic Club that I accept this decision. “Results ultimately decide the tenure of this profession, and as such I take my share of responsibility. “I believe wholly in the work that was done; however, football doesn’t always allow time for belief to become results. I would like to thank the players for their commitment and effort during my time as their coach, and the staff who worked every day with loyalty and pride. “I would also like to thank the supporters. Your passion for your team never waivers, even in disappointment. “Aberdeen will forever be a part of my journey, and it has been an honour to lead this great Club and share that memorable day together at Hampden. “I leave wishing success to everyone involved both on and off the pitch.” 4 Quote

When he first was appointed I was renewing my dna membership and the people in the office were so impressed by him, saying he's just a lovely guy, a real gentleman...maybe not what you need as manager? Really sad it didn't work out for him. 6 Quote
irnbru1903 Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago There was nowhere left to go. A cup win gave JT longer than he should have had but the football on display week in week out was eye bleedingly bad. The players should hang their heads in shame and be following him out of the door. 1 Quote

STFU_Donny Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago Sorry it didn’t work out for Jimmy but apart from the Scottish Cup win it’s been brutal for over a year. Jimmy will be fine, reading reports he already has a job lined up in Sweden. Quote

Club wanted to keep it quiet a wee while longer while they get the new guy boxed off, so hopefully that’s well down the road already. Just what I’ve heard, but JT has the AIK job lined up back home apparently - good move for him to a league he works well in if that is the case. Wish him all the best. EDIT: Hadn’t seen the earlier link when I posted so that looks like it has substance then. Edited 23 hours ago by The.Moog Quote
