Well, figure it’s close enough to start the thread and may get some more enthusiasm than the current season. So what do we need?

manager - Alex Neill

formation - 4-2-3-1/4-3-3

I’m going with the belief that we currently have 7 starters - Devlin, ruby (or gartenmann), Jensen, Mackenzie, shinnie, clarkson or McGrath, and sokler. 4 legit starter signings needed, plus more. I’d argue McGrath has been better than clarkson this year, but I dont think both together are our midfield solution.

goalkeeper - NEEDED to replace Roos, doohan is back up

right back - devlin, Richardson, SiGN gartenmann

left back - think Mackenzie deserves to be our left back, one of our few successes this year, mcgarry as back up, jenson cover too as gartenmann does right back.

central defense - ruby, gartenmann, Jensen, Macdonald - think that’s good enough, just need a legit and consistent keeper and midfield to protect and support them

Right mid - TWO needed, starter and back up, vinnie as back up? sell morris

left mid - ONE needed, possibly hoilett and mcgarry as back up, vinnie?? Don’t think Duncan is good enough, squad filler.

center mid - sign TWO. ONE starter needed, plus assuming Barron leaves. Free agent Baccus? Shinnie clarkson or McGrath,  and one other, mcgrath/clarkson and polvara as back up, sign another ONE physical/athletic worker so that shinnie and new signing aren’t run into the ground.

Forward - assuming Miovski and duk are sold, I want sokler given a chance. SIGN one to compete with him to start, bavidge the third option and given minutes. Sell GUEYE.

I’m assuming miovski, duk, morris, gueye, and Barron are gone, and we sign gartenmann and hoilett. Hayes retires. Mcgarry gets a summer to get fit and prove what he can do next year, been unfortunate to date. A bench from Richardson, mcgarry, Duncan, clarkson/mcgrath, hoilett, bavidge, doohan, Milne, polvara, vinnie, plus a new back up right mid and an enforcing center mid.

Obviously Mikey Johnson is one of our new signings.

The Scotland defender - currently in camp with Steve Clarke ahead of Euro 2024 - spent the second half of the campaign on loan at FC Copenhagen from the EPL outfit.

He will be up for grabs without a transfer fee this summer as he thinks over his next step.

But his immedate focus will be on international duty in Germany.

Aye he turned contract offer from Forrest. Suspect he will have no shortage of offers as he was impressive during his spell in Copenhagen. Shame no sell on windfall but we did make a fair amount from deal.

Can't really complain about it in all honesty. We did well with the initial deal and I hope he manages to get a decent club. As you say, certainly shouldn't be short of suitors. 

Are we still looking at that Iceland goalkeeper who kept a clean sheet against England?  Was he not getting a game under Thelin at Elfsborg?  Guessing it would be a season long loan to begin with if so.

Not seen much in the way of transfer rumours involving Dons in last week. All been very quiet. Only thing that was remotely linked to us was press claiming Huns want £500k for Robbie McCrorie which will probably rule us out. 

Unless we use Barron in a similar type of deal to the other McCrorie. Could explain the radio silence on Barron who is now presumably out of contract.

Fuck that I would rather him go abroad and get nothing than have him go to those cunts. I don’t actually think Robbie McCrorie is good enough to be paying any fee for.

Half a story...the colour of the fruit juice would tell us which side of the arse he's signing for (if it's red on the other hand it would mean he's staying).

Not going to happen

We are NOT selling to either of the cheeks, a player with two years left on a contract and for whom they won't be prepared to pay full value.

What are others thinking with regard to Duk's future?  I'm so sad his second season didn't live up to the debut campaign.

Want to see the guy succeed.

Did the adulation one got from us the fans in 2022-23 go to his head a bit and he became too complacent?

Think it’s a bit of everything :

 

- manager turned to shite

- didn’t get the move he probably thought he was going to get

- believed his own hype

 

robson ruined plenty so I’d hope that Thelin might be able to get a return to his previous form. I’d like to sell as soon as we can to get at least a return on our investment though.
