Summer 2024 transfer window

Well, figure it’s close enough to start the thread and may get some more enthusiasm than the current season. So what do we need?

manager - Alex Neill

formation - 4-2-3-1/4-3-3

I’m going with the belief that we currently have 7 starters - Devlin, ruby (or gartenmann), Jensen, Mackenzie, shinnie, clarkson or McGrath, and sokler. 4 legit starter signings needed, plus more. I’d argue McGrath has been better than clarkson this year, but I dont think both together are our midfield solution.

goalkeeper - NEEDED to replace Roos, doohan is back up

right back - devlin, Richardson, SiGN gartenmann

left back - think Mackenzie deserves to be our left back, one of our few successes this year, mcgarry as back up, jenson cover too as gartenmann does right back.

central defense - ruby, gartenmann, Jensen, Macdonald - think that’s good enough, just need a legit and consistent keeper and midfield to protect and support them

Right mid - TWO needed, starter and back up, vinnie as back up? sell morris

left mid - ONE needed, possibly hoilett and mcgarry as back up, vinnie?? Don’t think Duncan is good enough, squad filler.

center mid - sign TWO. ONE starter needed, plus assuming Barron leaves. Free agent Baccus? Shinnie clarkson or McGrath,  and one other, mcgrath/clarkson and polvara as back up, sign another ONE physical/athletic worker so that shinnie and new signing aren’t run into the ground.

Forward - assuming Miovski and duk are sold, I want sokler given a chance. SIGN one to compete with him to start, bavidge the third option and given minutes. Sell GUEYE.

I’m assuming miovski, duk, morris, gueye, and Barron are gone, and we sign gartenmann and hoilett. Hayes retires. Mcgarry gets a summer to get fit and prove what he can do next year, been unfortunate to date. A bench from Richardson, mcgarry, Duncan, clarkson/mcgrath, hoilett, bavidge, doohan, Milne, polvara, vinnie, plus a new back up right mid and an enforcing center mid.

Obviously Mikey Johnson is one of our new signings.

I'm more worried we didn't let him go far enough away from Aberdeen, he might find his way back.

  • Exactly, typical of the lazy older generations. For what it's worth, I think that the Ghanian league is in the top five leagues along the gulf of Guinea coast.

  • Thank fuck. He was shite at the weekend, didn't even touch the ball.

Short sighted fuckwit. Guess those other clubs never existed then, did they. Ah well swift leg break will do, fuck him.

Fuck him. Hope he doesn't get injured, but simply sits on their bench before spending two years in their reserves and then joining Killie a broken player. Or he breaks his legs in a training ground accident.

Funny they announce Barron the same day it comes to light they can’t afford to pay their builders 😂😂😂

Make your stadium playable/sign a player from Aberdeen ⚖️

At least with Mitov signing it would seem we have told them to shove there 500k for McCrorie. Hopefully we get at good chunk of compensation for him.

Wondering if Hoillet being injured and withdrawn from the Canada squad if this actually improves our chances of him being at Pittodrie next season as he no longer has a platform to put himself in the shop window 🤔

Disappointed the Dons didn't keep with tradition an announce a signing on a Scotland game day to ease the inevitable pain.

Cash up front or do one.

What did we get for Ferguson, anyone remember? Fair to say Barron is more established and closer to an internationalist so we should get more money?? Yes, I know, common sense will not apply.

We seem to have paid about £250,000 for Ferguson from Hamilton and the story goes that £500k would be the expected compensation figure for Barron.

Do you mean what did we pay for Ferguson rather than what did we get for him 🤔

It's more akin to the Wright transfer than the Ferguson one in terms of games played and time spent at the club. Sure that was in the region of £400K, with McRorie the payment.

Bet the Huns were banking on us gratefully taking Robbie McCrorie as full payment for Barron.

Fucking delighted we didn't go down that path.

What a thick bunch they really are, took a wee look on Swallow Swallow and the number of them who can't comprehend why they have to pay us anything at all is scary, instead thinking they have signed Barron for free.

Worryingly these people have a vote 😲

P.S Have run a scan and clean up on my laptop and apologised to it for sending it over there.

McCrorie was a good bit of business, any Huns worth taking off their hands? If they struggle for funds possible opportunity here?

Hopefully the tribunal will agree a fee of £500K, and the Dons will insist it is paid up front. The Huns will be completely outraged, refer to him as their player, play him in a friendly where he picks up a serious injury. The SFA then refuses to register him as a player until the Huns pay up. They scrape together the money and pay us in early August. Spooked by them refusing to pay a seemingly trivial sum to Aberdeen, the crane company refuses to engage in any further work on their stand until funds are delivered. As creditors continue to call their bluff, the Huns are pulled towards administration. Work on the ground stops, and their fixtures are moved behind closed doors at Airdrie's ground (with murrayfield refusing to host them without up front payment). Over the remainder of the season, things go from bad to worse as they're forced to sell any remaining football assets at way below value in order to fund the shortfall from having no crowd revenue. Hun fans request refunds for their season tickets, refusing to help their club in its time of need, as always. Eventually, the plug is pulled and they head into administration again. With the cost to complete Ibrox deemed too expensive, they are forced to sell it to Aldi, with a view to turning it into an LGBTQ+ sanctuary, refugee outreach centre and petrol station. Several thousand Huns spontaneously combust upon announcement.

They probably thought we would take his brother since we were needing a keeper. Might still be worth a punt since the jury is still out on Doohan - the fact Roos was never dropped this past season suggests he’s not up to much.

Christ, two six figure sum goalies on the books? Bit extravagant IMO.

Jimmy Thelin’s Extravagant Dons

Seems as good a place as any to post this link.

Certainly not every year we sign nine of the youngster up.

Getting Lewis Carrol signed is a big deal as he was wanted by several big clubs south of the border.

I'd like to wish all the youngsters all the very best as they set out on their journey and look forward to seeing their progress

Especially as a few clubs were keeping an eye on him through the looking glass.

Shame we couldn't keep Charlie Dodgson as well, those two were inseparable

Kristijan Lovric, Croatian winger; has followed Alan Burrows and Rubezic on instagram which may be a sign he's on his way or at least there's some sort of interest. Although he did similar three years ago when he followed Celtic.

Was a £2m signing three years ago, seven goals in 25 appearances last season in the Croatian top flight. If Duk is leaving this would seem a more than adequate replacement (but 8 yellow cards, never seen a winger get booked so much).
