  1. No we're not, we'd be building on top of what is currently the driving range and a couple of holes of the golf course at the very most. The golf course will still be there, they'll just be shifting the demolished parts further north. There wouldn't be that much scope for extra parking. And for the hardened drinkers, it will also mean the loss of the Broadhill Bar.
  2. Yes, the majority of them, not those too stubborn to move from their comfy seat in front of the telly at the Pittodrie Bar. The percentage of those attending a match who drink in the pubs before the match and would be unwilling to travel to Cove because it's not handy would be quite low in my estimations. Low enough that the money saved from building on a brownfield site marked for development instead of digging up part of a golf course next to the beach will far outweigh that of the money spent from people willing to abaondon supporting their team because it means they'll miss out on having some pre-match beers. It was tongue in cheek, pointing out that he should be grateful for having the stadium on his doorstep in the first place, and it seems he's taken it for granted. He'll just have to do what thousands of other fans already have to do every other week. It's going to be in a location where they'll be able to build all the facilities that will serve the community, it's a far larger area than the beach site and far more room for expansion to incorporate hotels, shops, offices, gyms, restaurants, etc, etc. They evaluated sites on all sides of the city and that was chosen as the most viable for a variety of reasons. There are always going to be people unhappy no matter what location is chosen, they've done their best to suit the majority. And we do have a responsiblity to serve the rest of the country with providing easy access from other areas, especially if the Scottish government will be providing a lot of the funding and if we want to host national events.
  3. Falkirk has worked quite well for them, the rest never really had much of a fanbase to start with. And it's hardly out of town, it's a 5 minute drive from the train station on a normal day. The bypass has been approved, it will be built.
  4. Yes, because there's absolutely no chance that they'll even consider introducing further public transport links to a new stadium, we're stuck with the current routes and timetables we've got for all of eternity. We have the A90, which is a dual carriageway, we have Wellington Road, which will soon be a dual carriageway all the way up to its junction with the A90, and by the time the stadium is in use, we'll have the WPR which is also a dual carriageway. How can that possibly be a bad thing? Far better than the single lane King Street and the single lane Beach Boulevard. Their loss, you can't structure a football club, and a business around the drinking habits of a couple of dozen people. You've had a football stadium on your doorstep for the last 100 years or so, someone else is going to get a shotty now, stop being selfish. People travel from all corners of the country to come to home games, you're complaining about going a few miles to somewhere that will have plenty of public transport support.
  5. Would there be anyone to complain though? All the local businesses would be happy, and the people who live in the area can't exactly say they don't want a football stadium near their homes because there's one there already. All the existing golf facilities would be relocated, so no harm? Cove's fine with me though, it's close enough to the city centre, easy to get to, plenty of bus routes to go up that way, potential for a rail link and keeps the huns out of the city centre with a bit of luck.
  6. Sounds fair enough to me, get on with it lads!
  7. It won't be long before someone slips of some dog shit at Seaton Park and lands on a junkie's discarded needle and gets AIDS. Maybe.
  8. Didn't we WIN 9 home games in arow under Plebbe?

  10. Good stuff, Nicholson was the one I was worried about most, most important player in our squad for me.
  11. John Hughes wouldn't be a bad shout, but Aberdonians in general, are a bit more reserved that other Scottish people and I can't see his 'loveable oaf' personality going down too well. I'd go with Eric Black, he comes across as very articulate and intelligent in interviews and sets his teams to go out and play attractive football. And he seems to have genuine contacts on the continent for finding good cheap foreign players. I've just got a good feeling about the guy. I'd also be more than happy with Mark McGhee as well, and also, to throw another hat into the ring, Terry Butcher.
  12. Appalling game, Calderwood needs to stop playing Clark in the centre of midfield, it always puts us on the backfoot, and he did much better in the second half out wide. Mair is pish.
  13. And I'll bet they'll be willing to play for less than the Scottish kids too. It's politically correctness gone mad.
  14. Those mongos are always trying to take liberties.
  15. That's me just in the door now. The scenes from last night are nothing compared to the scenes at Heathrow when the useless BA cunts delayed my flight back to Glasgow by 4 fucking hours.
  16. Seems like they haven't been selling the sections wither side of the Dons fans, and will give us first refusal when they go on general sale on Wednesday, so it looks like the majority of us will all be together

  18. I don't arrive in Madrid until half 3 on Thursday afternoon, 45 minutes on the Metro to get to my hotel too, hopefully won't miss out on too much of the fun and games.
  19. Red and green should never be seen!
  20. Without paying any attention to statistics, in my opinion, the most productive and effective partnership up front I have seen in the last 3 years or so is Steve Lovell and Jamie Smith, both of them have excellent positional skills, and it stands to reason that they're more likely to anticipate each other more than anyone else in the squad. I think Miller could do a similar job up front with Lovell, but only if we play quick attacking football on the deck. Target man football can be effective, but we just don't have the personnel to make it work. Miller isn't a target man, none of our other strikers suit playing off a target man. For us to be at our best in an attacking sense either requires us to change our playing style, or change our attacking personnel. Unfortunately, changing to a more 'attractive' playing style would require a massive change of personnel at the back too, and we're nowhere near being able to afford the sort of players with the footballing brain to make it work. So we're stuck watching cloggers hoof the ball up to slightly built, slightly taller than average strikers with even bigger cloggers thundering against their spine.
  21. Barry Robson went in 2 footed with his studs up, horrible challenge. Straight red card. There was a bit of a mssive ruck after that, and Derek Young and Lee Wilkie both got booked. And a few minutes later, we were defending a cross into our box, Wilkie jumped up and deliberately handballed it, second bookable offence.
  22. Pretty much, unless you fancy going in the home end.
  23. http://www.afc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/clubNewsDetail/0,,10284~1156869,00.html 3000 tickets to go on sale 10th November. Bloody good timing cos I fly out to Dubai the next morning. This is going to be a nightmare, I can see people sleeping outside overnight and the like.
