  1. Nail on head - this is however, yet again, a 'transitional' season....
  2. I read that as this is the 1st time he was seeing a specialist? Treatment without surgery is always the preferred option though - surgery would mean another 6/8 weeks at least on the sidelines? my bet is he'll be out till December.
  3. Why has it taken two weeks for this?
  4. Think thats bad? try 7am from Newcastle. + Its my turn to drive.

  6. Nice one... got a deal on the go.. a ticket to a huns game in exchange for a toon-sunderland ticket in october.
  7. Is it still the score you can only buy two tickets & need to be on the database? I am, but four of us were planning on heading up from Newcastle (the other three aint on the data base)...
  8. We sound to have had the better of the last 5-10 minutes..
  9. Just away to start reading 'Mr Nice' by Howard Marks....
  10. looking at that website, the Scottish cup winners go into Q4, and the 3rd placed team in the league go into Q3.. When we came 3rd in 2007, we only had one qualifier to go through(against dinipro)... whats changed?
  11. I do wonder what the point was in having him in on trial was? Aside from the smart arse 'to find out if he is good enough?' MM must know what the financial situation is & given we are scrabbling around trying to find any spare cash for Basey, to the point of putting youngsters (who are on peanuts) on loan, then financially this would have been a non starter anyway? I am however assuming that any deal for Vujadinovic is worth more than the one tabled for basey.
  12. At least he has age on his side. Bastard of an injury to recover from though.
  13. This guy sounds pretty good, but, in view of what has happened to FF, anyone think that the midfield is now lacking?
  14. Was thinking the same thing... very pixelated.
  15. I will believe it when I see it....

This weekend will involve a fairly large quantity of alcohol..
  17. Aye, you could see Grampian's finish sticking an oar in there.. Ironically the pre-match boozing would be easier to police, as all the fans were together in one place & not spread about town.. licence wise - it doesn't need to be all day - I could just open 3/4h before KO - that would probably be enough? revenue wise - all you need is a couple of thousand fan to have a pint each - for a 'stadium' style basic no frills bar, I reckon you'd see a profit before the season is out. AFC would have to remain in control of it though.
  18. Not even going to bother with the finances.... From artists impressions it does look very good & I think I would be a major coup if AFC manages to get a new stadium like it... I am a bit sceptical that the finished article will be the same though. Some fairly major points however: Transport... This has been done to death - but the fact remains that unless you are driving up from the south, the stadium will be a major pain in the arse to get to & away from games. For those that do drive from the south i don't fancy your chances finding a parking space close by.... Crowd segregation pre/post match....As with any out of town stadium - its a bowl with no 'fan channelling' streets away from it. this won't be a problem for 9 out of the 11 teams that visit, but when the OF come to town it could be a different story.. Having been to the riverside a few time when Newcastle and Sunderland were visiting & witnessed the problems that occur when you have large groups of fans let loose in the same vicinity, i could see AFC's police bill for these fixtures rising.. Short of keeping away fans in I don't see a way round this, but even the 15 min dispersal time doesn't really do the job, people that want trouble will just hang about outside.. As an aside - a way for AFC to make an absolute killing money wise would be to build several bars around the stadium - given the location I'd guess they'd be pretty popular & it would be a captive audience.
