  1. To be honest BB, we were really in it, but I wouldn't say Hibs were over us, it has been a very scrappy game so far. They just had more opportunities in the final third, Riordan missed a very good opportunity and it apparently clipped the post. Still though, I'm happy enough  ;D

Mackie is off  :o Must have got a knock  :hammer:

  2. Miller and Mackie are our most in form players just now. If the rest of the team create more chances than in previous games for them they will soon be hitting the net more regular.

Completely agree, there is no way any other striker could warrant either Mackie or Miller being dropped for them. Incidentally, what have Maguire's performances been like for the reserves?

  3. Dons star Maguire in plea to face Hibs

Teen striker ready to prove himself

    frustrated: Chris Maguire.

DONS striker Chris Maguire wants the chance to prove he can lead the attack today – and pile on more misery for Hibs.

The 19-year-old is frustrated he has been left to warm the bench this season.

Buoyed by a debut Scotland Under-21 call, Maguire is desperate to prove his worth at Easter Road.

He said: “This season has been so frustrating because I have been on the bench for most of the games.

“I would have liked a lot more starts because I know I can score goals.

“My last start was towards the beginning of the season, so it was a boost to be named in the Scotland U-21 squad.

“All I can do is work hard in training and keep scoring goals for the reserves which I have been doing.

“I want the chance to play Hibs as I have always played well against them and received praise from the gaffer for that.

“If that break comes along today I am ready to grab it with both hands.

“Hibs have lost their last couple of games at home, so we have to go down there looking for three points.

“I want to give them another defeat, and hopefully I can get the chance to play a part in that.â€

Struggling Hibs have not won a game since they overcome the Dons 2-1 at Pittodrie on October 4.

In contrast Aberdeen have enjoyed a mini-revival to break into the top six.

And Maguire reckons they will never have a better chance of leaving Easter Road with three points.

“Every time we play Hibs it is always very close,†he said.

“Aberdeen should have beaten them last time at Pittodrie as we created much more chances, we just couldn’t take them.

“It is vital we put that right at Easter Road and capitalise on our good play.

“On their day Hibs can be a really good team who pass the ball well, but we know Aberdeen can beat them.

“It is up to us to go out there today and prove that by scoring goals and moving up the SPL table.â€

A 2-1 midweek win over St Mirren elevated Aberdeen up into fifth place in the SPL, just five points behind Dundee United in third.

And after tasting European football with the Dons last season Maguire is out to overhaul United - and secure a UEFA Cup berth.

“We must beat Hibs today to start a run of form,†he said.

“The lads were happy to get into the top six after the win over St Mirren, but we want more.

“We want to move higher and higher up the league, and take that third spot.â€

  4. Walker before Cowie I reckon.

Be surprised if Walker went to ICT, he's still well thought of at Boro.

My thoughts exactly, as was he not playing for the reserves/first team at the beginning of the season? Don't know enough about Black or Cowie to know if i'd have them in the team ahead of Walker.

  5. Should be a good game tomorrow, hopefully we don't sit off too much.  Hibs are there for the taking imo.  They have an even dodgier defence than us and have very little to offer behind Fletcher, Riordan, and Nish.

Shhhhh you'll jinx our defence!  ;)

  6. I wonder if JC will play him on Saturday just so he's not seen to be bowing to the fans, and also to give Young a bit of a boost?

If he does start... then, good luck to him...

It wouldn't surprise me at all, because otherwise it will be viewed that the "boo boys" have won. Despite the fact they/we are correct. He doesn't deserve a bloody starting spot! Sub appearance and no more, I can't even mind the last good game he had!

  7. Never a better chance you would think.

current form, only ICT and Accies are worse than Hibs:

    Aberdeen won 3 drawn 1 lost 2 scored 7 conc 5

    Hibernian won 1 drawn 2 lost 3 scored 6 conc10

So does that mean we will lose then?  ;)

  8. I was bored to fuckery listening to the radio, and the commentators more or less said it was shite.

Must admit, I was bored and only listened to about 20 mins of the game but was checking the score ont he phone. I tuned in again before the first goal went in  Then stayed tuned to hear an actual cheer at the end from the Pittodrie crowd. Such a novel experience I thought I better remind myself of what it was like.  ;)

  9. It would be good if we worried about how aberdeen were goint to play rather then focus on what other teams might do.

If the manager had more faith in his players we would be doing a lot better then we currently are!

I felt better coming out of the defeat to united then i did last night because even though we lost we battled hard and looked like we wanted to win - last night was back to square one, it says something when a central defender has to score when we have 4 strikers on teh pitch :(*

Lucky for us then that Aluko is a midfielder then eh  ;) Who cares though, we won, we got the three points. As I said in another thread, yes its not pretty and we've been far from convincing, but I don't care, we're getting there. We've always been slow starters, albeit a lot slower this season but we're making progress.  Smile, it might never happen

  10. As I said to BB a while back, to which he thought I was mental, we'll be 3rd by December  Even my Tim mate today couldn't believe it is actually going to happen. I know its not been pretty and we've been far from convincing and hell its very much frustrating we haven't taken advantage of a VERY tight league, but oh well. We're making progress. Second isn't that far away  ;)

    Stand Free
