  1. I heard Real Madrid, AC Milan, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Man Utd have all been in contact with the Fyvies. Oh and the Irish FA have also been round with 12 sacks of tatties offering to tarmac their drive if he pledges his international future to them. April Fools! (Well apart from the Irish FA bit ) Seriously though hope this lad signs on and gets his chance, having a new Jess* come through would be a huge boost for the support. *fingers crossed, no pressure
  2. Bring back Ebbe!
  3. Hibs to make a bid for Darren Mackie during the summer. If this one is true and they bid ACTUAL money and we accept it, it would rank on the exact opposite end of the scale as £800k for Brian O'Neil.
  4. 6. Sven Baas, Thorarinn Kristjansson, Bill and Ben Paatelainen, Special Bus, Jamie "extra padding for" Winter, Dan Smith, Lubomir Blaha, Jon Smith, Jon Kurrant, Tommy Wright, Dung, Bertie Bossu.
  5. 6. Aberdeen 3 - Rangers 2, 1st August 2005. You right, 14th. That'll teach me for believing the first google result to be gospel Personally I blame JC for my poor google search skills (and Ricky Foster).
  6. 3. Queen of the South FOUR - Aberdeen THREE
  7. What you talking about? Getting gubbed 4-1 by Scumdee and 4-3 by QoS rank up there as two of the high points in my time supporting Aberdeen. Those along with destroying the mighty Falkirk 2-1 to "win" a place in the top six last April.
  8. What's even more concerning is that it apparently takes a banner from the fans to create that winning drawing mentality and not the fact that since January they've won, one game and failed to beat a (bottom half) 1st division side over two legs, injury time and a penalty shoot out. I know it came form The Hun, but FFS!
  9. Off the Gossip bit on the BBC site. What a sad state of affairs.
  10. I would suggest that the "next level" of reaching Europe every season would, as has been proven, increase revenue. This would in turn enable us to reach the "level above the next" which I would say should be winning a trophy every year?
  11. We dominated extra time but we didn’t have that spark to get us a goal and when it went to penalties it was a lottery and we’re out. Why is it a lottery, I hate that term. Is someone picking numbered balls out of a bag to decide whether you score or not. Fuck sake, your well paid professionals. If you know there is a chance of a penalty shoot out, practice!.
  12. Is McAllister nae playing at centre back these days, for Brizzle? Still a joke of a selection though.
  13. I've never thought about it like that before, but I wonder if that's why "Jimmy's Favourites" always get a game despite dips in form etc.? If the club are giving out performance related contracts, but possibly the players are being offered better basic elsewhere, could Jimmy be taking them to one side and saying something like: "Look son, sign the contract I'll make sure you get all the bonuses linked to your contract, no matter what!"? Or have I been taking conspiracy lessons from the Tims?
  14. This has to be the easiest season to gain European qualification since 1984 and we are doing a fantastic job of fucking it up!
  15. Well what can you say? There is no way ANYONE can appologise for Jimmy tonight. He is responsible for tactical decisions and they were atrocious tonight. Charlie has it right! While it is not the time for a replacement due to transfer windows etc I would not be dissapointed to wake up to Jimmy's resignation in the morning. Sorry for the spelling too many whiskys hic .
  16. Your right. I have assumed him abilities he is clearly lacking, like forming a more structured argument than "You're wrong I'm right, FACT!".
  17. ^What he said^ Who needs the rocket?
  18. Perhaps you should make yourself clearer then because this (^) reads to me as if YOU are suggesting that these players are not[quote author= link=topic=7976.msg125983#msg125983 date=1236794000] 'experienced and competent' . I ruled out you considering them inexperienced, given their experience, and assumed you were suggesting they were incompetent. I assumed that this was the basis of your arguement with Stoney as to why they should not be described as journeymen. The opinion of them being incompetent is different to that which you expressed in another (now deleted thread) where you were extolling the virtues of Messrs Foster and Mackie. Thus you were contradicting yourself. Comprendes.
  19. Not if his arguement is that Foster cannot be a journeyman (meaning: experienced and competent) because his opinion is that Foster is not competent. While, on another (albeit deleted thread) he was defending Fosters competence in order to discredit another poster.
  20. Ah I see one's internet persona is allowed to have multiple opinions on a single subject, as long you keep to the same opinion on each individual thread. BTW, I have no problem with your argument over the incorrect use of the term Journeyman, just pointing out the contradictory nature of it .
  21. However in fairness to Stoney, your established viewpoint on Foster (in particular) seems to have altered in order to discredit Stoneys viewpoint in this instance. While you may not agree with what Stoney is saying at least he is consistent. Perhaps you are a band-waggoner, after all .
  22. Are you sure? It would have been 89-90 League Cup with the final being in 1990. Didn't we lose to Rangers in 1989? And had Jess even made his debut by the time of that final? Or through the haze was the league cup played entirely before Christmas in those days? In which case your right and I apologise for questioning you.
  23. Hud on... Strip Seve of the armband, NOW! Foster for Captain!
  24. Well obviously not Steve Guppy (although he did get an England cap so he must be up there). Ronald De Boer played over 60 matches for Holland including a World Cup Quarter Final, won the champions league with Ajax before playing for Barcelona. So he's certainly up there with Demarcus Beasley Numan has over 40 Dutch caps must have played in the same Quarter Final as De Boer. Klos has a Champions league winners medal with Dortmund Viduka only played in the Semi's of the Champions league I seem to remember Moravcik in my WC '90 stiker album, how old was he at Celtic? He was good though, touch control, vision, wonder why he never played at a higher level? Kanchelskis was replaced by Beckham at Man U, would it be too dissimilar to Ronaldo popping up at Rangers in 6 or 7 seasons time? Cannigia, World cup finalist? Definatley played in 90, OK I suppose 10 years and a lot of drugs later. Berkovic and Petrov out of that lot would be closest in terms of talent to the current old firm squads, so I'll give you them. Although Petrov is currently plying his trade for a top 4 Prem side so that has to make him top 50 at least . I'm not really speculating on who was the better manager though, I certainly didn't like Ebbes first season when we were getting battered by Celtic 7 - 0, avoiding relegation by virtue of league restructuring and the like. On the flip side, like Stoney says, we were in two cup finals, and reached Europe twice, in what three seasons? As opposed to no cup finals and reaching Europe once in 5 seasons. From that point of view I can see why people remember the times fondly. Especialy considering Ebbe had a bit of character too.
