  1. I joined a political party once. In 1998. It was the SNP. I think it cost me £20. I didn't rejoin the following year. I can't remember if they even invited me to but even if they did post me a subs renewal, I would never have given those useless fuckers another penny.

All I got for my membership was to meet with somebody they said I had to meet (before I could join). It barely lasted 5 minutes but given the impression he made on me, I wanted out of there quicker than I wanted in. His cheap clothes and his unkempt appearance weren't the problem more than he was a loser, a small man who's face had never cracked a smile. The sickly hue and pallor of his face reminded us all that death was coming.

The political parties should think about the type of people they allow to represent them. Simple tasks like beating Bowie and the Tories in Scotland would be easier if they picked better canvassers and political representatives.

I'm surprised to read that you apparently read so much into his clothes and appearance. Isn't the future of our country an infinitely bigger issue than how this one man comes across? I can't imagine being this offended by someone's appearance.

We'll win indyref2, especially if your political forecasting record continues  :D

The odds on us winning Indyref2 must be looooong though. I don't know how you cunts are going to manage it but I hope you do.

  2. I'm a member of the SNP (not an activist). The last thing you could accuse me of is falling for Tory propaganda. I remember when Brown waited a year too long to hold the election held in 2010 and cost Labour a victory. Now I forget which department it was but the Labour outgoing cabinet secretary of state left a note for the incoming Tory (it was a Tory not a LibDem) S.o.S on his desk saying "There's no money left"

It's what Labour do historically. And now having made a cunt of the election the different factions within the party are virtually in civil war with each other. So I make no apologies for my interpretation and stand by every fucking word.

That doesn't mean you're immune to their very wide net of nonsense. First I'm hearing of this note. Although it doesn't necessarily mean anything.

  3. This was tweeted by someone called "Lisa Avenging Angel Tucker-Clemens": -

I'm trying to get my head around why anyone would turn down what Labour and Corbyn were offering? I want to know why Brexit was more important in your minds than all Labour offered? I want to know what you think Brexit will bring that is so good? What made Brexit override all?

She's not the only one that's been wondering that. No one had any idea that our EU membership was such a problem until Farage told us all it was prior to 2016.

I think I've said in this thread already that I had no one from the SNP at my door. All Tories. The only leaflets that I got were posted.

By the way can we all settle doon with the calling each other fat retard cunts etc. Saves moderators having to think about editing posts which no one wnats to do.

  4. It was as left wing as Labour have been since the (also disastrous) 1983 election. You probably don't remember that one, if indeed you were even born. I was in 5th year at high school so just too young to vote in it but my old man who had been a card carrying Labour member since his teens even couldn't bring himself to vote for them (he didn't vote at all that year).

I have no doubt a few of Corbyn's policies would have been popular with the low wage earners raising families. But in common with Michael Foot in 83, there were no detailed plans of how it was all going to be paid for, save for raising taxes on the very wealthy. Both would have bankrupted the UK in short order. But at least Foot was a genuinely nice man. Corbyn is a cunt

Put that copy of the Daily Mail down eh. Tory media bollocks min.

  5. Don’t forget the 16&17 year olds who will potentially be able to vote in a referendum, and the eu nationals. The majority of both groups are likely to be Yes voters.

Fair points. That's assuming the EU nationals aren't as thick as their hosts. Most of them voted No in 2014 I guess because they felt independence would threaten their status in Scotland. You'd think now that most of them would now see that Yes is the way to go.

  6. Seems like a lovely kid who loves the club, but he's everything wrong with academy football these days. A midfielder who moves the ball sideways, lacks initiative and plays like a drilled robot. I hope he goes on to prove me wrong, however I think he'd struggle to get a game at ICT or saints etc.

He's a bit of a fairy too. We saw another instance of him having no interest in getting physical v Hamilton. The same happened back in July, or June or May or April or whenever it was that we played RoPs. He pussied out of a couple of challenges then. I dared voice this on AFC Chat and everyone acted like I'd pissed on their chips. They were spouting shite about how he did it because he was on a booking but he wasn't booked until much later in the game. I later found out it was because Deano's Dad posts on there and they're all just a bunch of arsehole lickers. I'd love to be wrong about Dean. He's young so I still could be. I don't think I am though. I'd still much prefer Greg Leigh in there before Deaon.

  7. Interesting "plan B" put forward by Angus Brendan MacNeil....MP for the Ooter Hebrides. In the event Bojo refuses a second referendum, all 48 SNP MP's to resign and force 48 by-elections standing on a (if I have picked it up correctly) ticket of abandoning a second referendum and just declaring independence should a majority in Scotland overall (min 30) be re-elected.

I suppose it would indeed show how many SNP voters are truly voting for independence as opposed to using their vote as just a rejection of the Tories (or Labour and Lib Dems). And I suspect would have a greater chance of success rather than an indyref 2 right now, which I still maintain would result in another No victory at this point in time.

Personally, if I were formulating SNP policy now, I'd be creating laws and initiatives specifically designed to totally piss off England (ie massive public spending on shit that they don't/won't get) and hopefully encourage their more nationalistic citizens to start to think about the benefits of English independence. Because right now I just think that independence by default is probably our best chance.

Wouldn't that entail finding 48 (Or 49 once Neale Hanvey gets let back in) other SNP candidates to stand? I assume you can't resign and then stand in the by election that you've facilitated by resigning? Maybe you can.

Massive gamble, that. It would be the last throw of the dice. In the likely event that it would fail it should be the end of the SNP. I've wanted a promise from them to disband in the event of a Yes vote but if they do that and fail we'll need new pro indy parties to take us forward even before we're independent.

  8. 8000 majority down to 800.

I won't be needed again, Scotland won't have another Westminster election

I hope this prediction as as good as your last. Although I'm not hopeful.

46% of votes went to pro indy parties in Scotland. Many of these are likely to have been votes against Brexit or the Tories rather than against the Union. I'm sure there will be the odd pro-indy Labour and even Tory voter. (I know one who voted yes in 2014.) But my point is there will have been more pro-union SNP/Green voters on Thursday than pro-indy Labour/Lib Dem/Tory so it doesn't bode well for winning a new indyref. We'll have to convince the 15% of the electorate in Scotland who didn't vote to get out and vote yes and the previous no voters who have been "forced" to yes are all very welcome and necessary to win.

Kow I'm still genuinely curious as to the point that I missed? Help me out.

  9. Even if Boris allowed Indyref 2, I'm still not confident of winning it. The results yesterday and an increased SNP share may well have been votes against Brexit more than pro-independence. Westminster are desperate to hold on to Scotland. There are reasons for this. Whatever the reasons that Scots think it's a good idea to be part of the union, they escape me but if Boris was to grant us the Indyref asap, I'm sure it would fail again. It's all shit.

Agreed. Getting another Indyref will be the easy bit. Convincing over 50% to vote yes will be the hard bit. I don't think it'll happen anymore. Not soon anyway. Maybe Indyref 3, 4 or 5. :)

  10. Agree he would be better heading off somewhere like St Johnstone and getting a game every week. For some reason DM doesn't seem to want to play him regularly despite our midfield injury situation. That he seems to rank Vyner a better midfielder is really rather bizarre.

I'm not sure how soon (if ever) Bryson will be fully fit although Ojo is now apparently back in full training so we might see him before long. But as it stands, if either Ferguson, Vyner or Leigh get injured, we would be forced to play Campbell, if only because Gleeson right now looks more like a department store Santa Claus than a professional footballer. Rumours are resurfacing that McGeouch will be leaving Sunderland at the end of his contract in the summer and that we are interested again  :hammer: That would put Campbell even further down the pecking order.

    Because he's fucking shite min!

  11. As usual you're missing the point, and still haven't got over the reasons why Scotland didn't say "Yes" the last time.

Anyway, there's more anti-Brexit sentiment in Scotland than there is pro-independence.  But as an academic (can't remember who) stated in the Guardian a couple of months back, Scottish independence will come from something the English do, not a drive from Scotland, and that's exactly what will happen.  Many will now vote for independence partly because they reject this hard-right Brexit that will be forced upon us - and I'll certainly be one of them.

Obviously there is now the added complication that a sub-section of the Scottish population want Brexit AND Scottish Independence.

Would you do me a favour and be kind enough to elaborate on the point that I've missed?

  12. I'm conflicted. About the mixed results from Scotland and the UK as a whole but also about the voters who voted tactically for the SNP despite being against Independence. I'm not sure if I should sympathise with them or say "I told you so". I guess it's a bit of both. Ironically their tactical votes were fruitless because of how people in England voted. This in itself is a massive advert for Independence. So the anti-Tory yoons up here have two choices. Learn to eat shit and like the taste (a motto used by the enigmatic Vince McMahon of the WWE) or re-think their position on Independence from the ground up. Ask themselves why are they so against it. Is it a historical family position and if so why are their ancestors thoughts still relevant? Is it from a place of genuine concern for how we'd manage? Is it because you hate the foreign devils that the Scottish Government are so welcoming of? Whatever it is we can talk it out. I briefly remember being undecided. I had voted prior to 2014 but I didn't really give a fuck. Lack of interest. I had zero political beliefs forced down to me by my upbringing so I went into my research as a blank slate. My foreigner Dad can't vote in general elections (disgrace) and my Mum was a labour voter in the 90s as far as I remember. We certainly weren't "nationalists" and yet it didn't take me very long at all to see that an Independent Scotland just made sense. In so many ways. Financially, diplomatically, politically, the list goes on. The fact that it's morally correct too matters little but the fact remains.

I'd like to hope we can convince the doubters because it's either that or £500 per month for medical insurance that covers fuck all. If you get the flu it'll only cover the cold. If you get lung cancer it'll only cover brain cancer. If you get hit by a bus it'll only cover being hit by a lorry.

On the plus side we'll get to keep our nukes in our back garden.

    :

  13. SNP been the most active in my areas, a letter and 3 leaflets from them, Labour have put 2 leaflets in, nothing from the Tories here.

Opposite from my area then. I've been flooded with Tory shite and have had the odd Lib Dem, SNP and Labour thing but probably more Tory stuff than the rest combined.

  14. Really? I've heard that there's a lot of folk who don't decide until the last minute. I've never understood how something so important can be not known. There are exceptions to everything naturally but I am intrigued as to why an otherwise obviously articulate and intelligent man is at an impasse over this? It must be to do with working out the best tactical decision I'm guessing.

Canna be that. The tactical votes in Scotland couldn't be clearer or simpler.

  15. Hopefully a hung parliament (rather than a Tory win) and some sort of coalition can release us from this hell.

Voting for the Tories or voting for Brexit is the same thing. Both hand the UK over to be run by a shower of self serving right-wing cunts.

    :-*

Kow, may I ask.. Have you as a unionist but also clearly anti-Tory, considered tactical voting today to try and achieve that goal?

  16. This is our chance to get the Tories to fuck. Sometimes a tactical vote is required. It might not be who you'd normally vote for or who you'd like to vote for but tactical voting can be effective in the political system that we've got. Look at who's closest to beating the tores in your constituency and vote for them. In Scotland that's SNP in every seat that they don't already have but in England or the rest of the UK it could be anyone.

Many of us have different political points of view on this forum but I think we're all agreed (most of us anyway) that the Tories have made a massive cunt of it and that a progressive coalition deserves it's chance.

  17. Obviously I won't pass comment on the receptionist as she's probably your wife. I wouldn't want to upset you but she seemed a nice enough lassie.

Private dentistry the only way to go. They don't perform unnecessary shit and keep us in great shape. It saves money in the long run.

Nah nah min. I don't have the pleasure of personally knowing any receptionists in any industry unfortunately. Although like my Mrs it does sound like this one has fine taste in men.

  18. I won't be doing that. Too fixed of mindset regarding them. His voice grates. It reminds me of who he is and what he looks like and this offends greatly.

Coincidence, at Queens X Dental yesterday Coldplay were on the sounds at reception. I was the only one there so I said to the receptionist (new lassie, not seen her before), "not Coldplay". She explained it was her husband's fav band so we had a chat and a laff. I detest that band.

6 month check up and hygienist. All clear again. Thanks for asking.

What Chris Martin looks like matter little to me but I have a question about the receptionist. Was she tidy? Great news on the gnasher front. I've got the dentist next week. I'm hoping for some equally high quality music whilst I wait.
