Completely agree. Loads of shite on Netflix but Adolescence was brilliant, absolute top drawer acting and production.

    Oh, and…

He's in the latest season of Peaky Blinders too. Plays a football ref that refuses to be corrupted.

Dons fan in real life seemingly. Wonder if he managed to get a SC final ticket.

  2. I caught "Ref Watch" on SSN yesterday. They included the "incident" where a free kick was awarded to Aberdeen after a brief goalmouth scramble for a foul on Mitov I think. Dermot Gallagher seemed to be of the opinion that there was no foul and that the "goal should have stood" (possibly paraphrasing) but for a goal to stand the ball would first have to cross the line and it seemed pretty clear to me from the replay from behind the goal that the whole ball wasn't even close to crossing the line. Fuds.

  3. I liked his remark about the Hampden attendance being vice-versa had the tie been played in Peterheid and he absolutely must push for a 50/50 ticket split. It is of course an absolute disgrace that any club out with the arse cheeks has to "push" for equality at a so called neutral venue. Whoever makes it to a final should be given every opportunity to sell half. That should be the default situation.

  4. Easy for me to say as a fan but selling off your sporting advantage of being the home side isn't something that's worth it in my opinion. The double away section that the bigots used to get at Pittodrie seems unthinkable now and not just because we're selling more tickets to home fans. Even if we weren't I would rather have those seats empty than fill them with away fans that may help give our opponents any sort of boost. Fuck that. If I were a J I would indeed be raging. The only sort of mitigating circumstance that I could think of would be if the club (like ICT for example) are fighting for their very existence which, as far as I know no club in the top division is.

  5. Don't agree that he rode his luck. No fouls that he committed on Saturday were worthy of more than the single yellow card that he got. Motherwell players hitting the deck as soon as they're within spitting distance of Gueye doesn't constitute him riding his luck IMO.

I thought Gueye was good at the weekend. I do note that I appear to be in the minority there right enough. I thought his play was mostly tidy and he causes defenders problems. And as you say I think we might need his physicality.

I missed the Dons fan, was it the prison warden Scottish lad?

Anyway, probably like a lot of people, I watch a tremendous amount of shite on Netflix and other channels. Turgid crap that I sit through just to see what happens. Netflix, especially, seems to have a lot of terrible output. Adolescence was definitely not that. Probably the best thing I've seen on Netflix, and the best TV in years. Taking a subject and really conveying it. Great stuff, and the child actors were top quality, without exception.

Agreed. I was actually put off when I heard it was a Netflix thing because as you say much of their stuff (recently at least) is shite but there is the odd exception. This being one of them.

Also watched A Thousand Blows recently too. Another Stephen Graham one (Although I think this one is Sky Atlantic rather than Netflix? Could be wrong). It's OK. A genuinely struggled with the Jamaican accents at times though.

I'm all for sivert being skipper. He sets a standard for work rate and fight and will bollock those not up to expectations. With shinnie on the pitch he takes a back seat.

I mean why the hell did he swap the arm band with shinnie for ten minutes.?

Shinnie is a grafter but he's not a leader and the last couple of years have proven that.

As he ages the physicality is taking a toll as he's not the biggest and can be swept aside in some games.

I'll admit that Nilsen has had some sticky games but he looks to be back to himself and he's the man for me to get the boss' message across and the man who controls the tempo.

Either shinnie has to move on or accept a lesser role in the squad. I'm not sure the latter would make for a good dynamic.

I'd prefer to see Polvara get time as the third midfielder.

That said Nilsen probably needs replaced season after next as he slows down.

Problem with this is that more often than not he is the one not up to expectations. Passing often very slack and gives the ball away a lot. But you're right about him bollocking others (for doing the same thing). I'd still rather have Shinnie as captain. Unless his role is to change to a bit part one.

A four year deal for an influential 28yo wouldn't have been ridiculous - but I don't consider him influential and clearly the club doesn't either so it's the right move for all parties.

A good player and signing but one who should be replaceable.

That was my thought once the feeling of betrayal subsided. A very replaceable player. Now it's up to the club to make that replacement happen and I'm confident that they will.

Ryan Duncan unused sub for QP tonight. Shame, it's not really working out for him. He's still only 20, and has some good attributes, but he'll need to do something special if he's going to make it for the Dons. It's a pity that none of our young players are benefiting from the minutes being shared throughout the squad. I think we could have carried someone like Duncan in games this season to try and build his confidence. It does seem to be a confidence issue, as he's not a terrible footballer.

Ethan Ross looking good again. A very strange career so far, but still plenty of time for him to give it a shot in the top league. Looks like he might be one of those that will stand out in the championship but might not cope with the move up a division.

I have never seen anything to back up this unfortunately.

John Alfred Tinniswood whilst not really a celebrity is worthy of mention here.

Recognised as officially the oldest man in the world by the Guinness Book Of Records @ 112 years of age, he has passed away peacefully in the nursing home in Southport where he has lived for over twelve years.👍

Thoughts to his beneficiaries. 12 years in a nursing home will take a heavy toll on their inheritance!

The democrat party pretend to have a solution. It involves continued pursuit of economic growth apparently. I'm not entirely sure why you'd care whether someone has acknowledged the issue or not, if it's entirely out with their ideology to solve the problem. It's not a step towards anything, it's just a meaningless step. It's like someone admitting that they're an alcoholic, and their solution is that they'll only drink when they're out, because they like a drink at a party. Then finding out that they were actually drunk that very moment, and had been for six days.

Please to be enlightening me. This is news to me. Personally I believe that economics is the last thing you should be thinking about when tackling climate change. Not much point in having a strong economy under water unless we evolve gills post haste.

I can't really be arsed explaining the importance of admitting there's a problem to someone who appears to be much more pedantic than they are stupid.

Whether there's a solution or not I don't know but there are countless steps that can be taken in the right direction. And the first one is not pretending that it doesn't exist because it doesn't suit your agenda. Or maybe they just can't be arsed. When Covid became too much of an inconvenience they just decided to pretend it didn't exist. After all it was only the weak that were dying.

I happen to agree that EVs aren't the answer on their own but again they are a step in the right direction. The carbon footprint of EVs is an overplayed card but the more widespread they become the smaller the carbon footprint of each car will become.

Personally I believe the aviation and shipping industry have to take much of the responsibility as well as manufacturing.

But the other team's stance leads to exactly the same outcome. Why is one abhorrent, but the other not, purely on the basis of timing? One side pretends that they have the solution, and the other pretends that they don't believe it's happening.

OK I'll bite. 🙄 Who's pretending to have a solution? Pretending that it doesn't exist is abhorrent because it's your kids, grandkids and great grandkids that you're fucking over for short time gain either political or financial. Acknowledging that it exists is the first fucking step to take at least. But now the right won't even do that. The republicans over there make the Tories here seem fucking progressive.

  14. It's the Republican head-in-the-sand stance on human accelerated climate change that I find utterly abhorrent (as well as the bat shit crazy stance on guns and abortion related healthcare) that means I would have voted for fucking Mr. Bean before 34 x convicted felon, sex offender and pathological liar Donald J Trump. 🙄

This is what I am hearing from my US based pals. Rest of the World cannot believe the Americans have voted him in again.

But in the US, they seem sick of the same old political merry-go-round, voting in someone who doesn't listen to the working class.

This is going to be very interesting to watch. The world will be significantly impacted by this election and Trumps actions during his time at The White House. The country is totally tucked, and is probably gonna be even more broken when he's done.

So they voted in Donald Trump? 🤔

You can only do 8 years so he has 4 left. The person to watch is JD Vance, the VP. He has been tremendously impressive over the last few months, incredibly smart, eloquent, calm, and a real find for the republicans. Funny, charming, and has interviewed extremely well.
I expect they’ll have learned that when you do nothing for 3 1/2 years it’s hard to become president. I expect Vance to be very involved and out front as VP, and the next presidential candidate after trump. get trump for 4 then Vance for 8 will be the republicans plan.

Next you'll be telling me Ron DeSantis is a fine upstanding politician and a credit to your new home state of Florida and not one of the worst human beings that has ever lived full stop period.
