Had a few chuckles at the Jim Jeffries guy (to be honest I was expecting the Killie manager to walk out and say "erm, well ... Gary Wales was great"). But certainly not laugh-a-line like Hicks was.

ah! I get you now. Let me see if I can sort this wee thing out

I watched that guy's clips when you linked to them a few months ago, FJ. To be honest I wasn't that impressed with him. He was like the poor man's Bill Hicks, except without the same comedy element.

Hmmm. I still don't get it.

How long did we have terracing before Hillsbrough? 100+ years of standing at football matches, and there's one accident (albeit one helluva accident). It's been several years since I last stood on real football terracing. Brondby's stadium was probably the last one I was at. The last Scottish one was probably Dens Park in a bizarre match I went to see between Dundee and Montrose about 15 years ago (Billy Dodds played for Dundee). Terracing was excellent, and should be brought back in a day and age where football fans are now watched like a hawk through stadium security personnel, CCTV cameras and the police.

As you may have noticed, DonsTalk now has the facility to embed YouTube videos into your posts (simply post the url of the video into your post ... no need for any coding either side of it!). Whilst this is proving to be a wonderful success in many areas of the forum, all users need to be aware of the following: Please refrain from posting any YouTube video containing any coverage of Aberdeen FC, either past or present. All AFC video material is copyright property of Aberdeen Football Club, regardless of where the video is located now. With their own RedTV system in place, displaying AFC video content on here is illegal and, most significantly, is direct competition to Aberdeen FC's own premium subscription content. In order that DonsTalk don't get hit with heavy copyright infringement fines, please refrain from posting AFC videos on the public forums of DonsTalk (various Pittodrie staff are known to frequent this site, so please don't try it!). If you really need to let someone know about a video you've seen, post it to them in a Private Message ... just not on the public forums, please!

TBH I'd rather have 56 tins of Fosters than one Richard Foster. 56 tins of mildly drinkable pish is better than one pile of unbearable pish! On the stadium front, I can see us and Cove Rangers moving into a shared stadium. Then Cove Rangers will struggle to keep up appearances with the rent money and will merge with us to become ..... ABERDEEN RANGERS! I'm nae supportin that shite!

I'm not quite sure what you mean, ST

Awesome. Okay, to embed a youtube video (works with heaps of other streaming content too, such as radio) simply paste the link into your text. No need to put any code at the start. Just place the link into your post.

FFS! When's the fat postie gonna retire/keel over? Who cares if it was a draw. It was a testemonial. I'm sure Manure could've pumped a lot more than two goals past us at the Gothenburg Testemonial. Fact of the matter is it wasn't their night, it was Aberdeen's night. Same goes for this match. It was Derek Milne's night, not Aberdeen's! We were just the glamour team that helped honour him as a player. Typical Fat Charlie twisting his doom and gloom into this result. Were you even there, Charlie??

Porkheid - that fuckin pillar! Fir Hill - if you're sitting up the back of the Main Stand, you can see fuckall of the opposite half of the pitch. I remember a woeful defeat in the 2002/03 season when we were just absolutely shit. Most of the red army were housed in the North Stand, but a handful of us were chucked into the Main Stand. Worst match I've seen in a LONG LONG time. Not just for the performance by the Dons, but also because I could only see about two-thirds of the pitch. Section Y - anyone who's stood on The Y will vouch for me when I say that I've never seen the corner over between the Merkland and Main stands.

It's something that we hadn't really considered. But I'm looking into how to implement it just now. I'm also running it past the rest of the guys who run the site to see how they feel about it. It sounds like a brilliant idea. But we could run into trouble with AFC if people are tempted to post youtube videos of the Aberdeen highlights, for example. This is the one and only thing that is putting me off implementing this feature

Not surprised! Not exactly something any normal, sane human being would want to boast about. I was in a car crash about two years ago and killed a wee 5 year old girl who'd stepped out onto the road. Although for the first 48 hours the memory was so vivid in my mind, little over a week later I couldn't remember a thing about the accident. Something in my brain wanted to block it out and, to be honest, I don't really want to remember it ... hence why this is the first time I've spoken about it to anyone in the past 18 months. I can't imagine seeing my school pals being shot dead infront of me by my scout master. It's difficult enough to forget that sort of thing when you're a grown adult. But to have it happen to you when you're a primary school child, and know it will stay with you for the rest of your life is something I certainly do not envy.

I've never really taken much notice of the tennis - not really my kinda sport. I watch it now and then, and enjoy the odd game of Virtua Tennis. But I thought I'd do a bit of research into Andy Murray ... actually, I just wanted to see where he was from in Scotland. Never realised Murray was a kid from Dunblane Primary. According to Wikipedia, he kid under a desk during the massacre 12 years ago, and attended a number of after-school groups where Thomas Hamilton was the group leader. Must be a horrific thing to harbour in your memory for life!

Being honest, it wasn't really his squads that he had the successes with. His success at Rangers was with a squad that was primarily Dick Advocaat's squad. His winning squad at Hibs was still hugely influenced by his predecessor Jim Duffy. Even at Motherwell, he experienced success with Tommy McLean's players. Once he started bringing in his own players, Motherwell started sliding down the table and narrowly avoided the playoffs in his final season. As good a player as he was, I don't have any faith in McLeish in a managerial capacity.

Had a look at the AFC website to see where Mackie was from ... they've taken that bit off the squad profiles. But they do show the height and weight of all the senior players. Hodgkiss is 5'4" !! Friggin Oompa Loompa!
