  1. If this De Visscher chappy is in the wing mould of Stephen Glass circa 1997-98, I'll be a very happy dandy! We've not had a left sided winger since Glass. Infact, I don't think we've had a decent winger on either side since Glass (Jamie Smith aside)
  2. I reckon Preece could've had a hugely impressive 'tache. These days, though, I think only Lee Miller would have one ... and even then it would be bum-fluff ... and only when he's wearing his kappa kollection.
  3. It's not just this lineup that we can be pretty happy with, it's the fact that the bench will probably regularly look like this: Soutar; Touzani; Diamond; Clark; Miller; Maguire That's a bench full of players that the vast majority of SPL teams would kill to have in their first-choice team!!!!
  4. Well, there's no doubt about that! I was gutted when McNaughton moved to Cardiff. But I smile contently when I hear that he's proving to be a quality player for them. It makes other clubs sit up and realise that Scottish players CAN cut it in England. And now we're getting teams like Manure coming in and sniffing around players like Gordon who are valued at 8million. Only thing that irks me is that we seem to be happy with the 1million value that Anderson is being advertised at. I'd take no less than DOUBLE that, and even then I'd have to admit that the club that wins his signature is getting him at a bargain price.
  5. Wouldn't go for this deal. We get to borrow one of their kids and nurse him back to full fitness and then give him back at the end of the season, whilst they walk with our second-best defender for pennies! I am not going to stand in the way of our players moving on to get better deals at bigger clubs ... just so long as it's not the Old Firm. Hart would be wasted there. Strachan would play him in CIS Cup matches, and that's all!
  6. Basically, we're not allowed to show ANY footage of ANY Aberdeen player or ANY part of Pittodrie. The stadium and the players are all property of the club, and if we have footage of any part of a game on here, the club comes knocking on our doors telling us to take it off. I don't care about any other footage. But footage of the Dons, whether it be TV footage or from your own cellphone is a breach of AFC's copyright. Sorry! I dinnae want the club to have to come down hard on a forum that's dedicated to the Dons. There wasn't any issue regarding this before RedTV came about. But now any video footage is seen as a conflict of interest with RedTV
  7. Aye. But hopefully this new guy can play as part of a team. Hicham was an amazing talent, but he couldn't comprehend the term "involve your teammates". When he got the ball, it was a one-man mission of his to find the net. The SPL's thickest defenders realised this pretty quickly and snuffed him out of the game. Hopefully this Jeff de Visscher guy is more of a team player than Zero was.
  8. I cannae believe I'm reading this about Foster!! Last time I was at Pittodrie, Foster was a joke. He was second division material at best!!! What's happened? Has he suddenly become a decent player? Cannae be the quality of players around him making him look good, cos he's still sitting around the same players that were on the field when he was shite. Is he really that good now? Did it just take a wee bit longer than normal for him to mature?
  9. Hate to tell you mate, but we've had a Black&Gold away strip twice in the past seven years! I quite like it, being honest. I've never really been a big fan of the all white strips. Too many chances for blue to be incorporated, hehe.
  10. Wannabe? The only wannabe category he fits into is "not being ridiculed for the rest of his life by the entire Tartan Army" for his penalty miss for England in (correct me if I'm wrong) Euro 96
  11. Merkland Road it is, then
  12. I reckon this is probably our biggest match since travelling to Berlin five years ago! And certainly the biggest match Pittodrie has seen since ... I can't think of the last home match that had this much importance ... probably the final game of the season two years ago against Hearts where Hearts didn't bother to turn up as they knew that us beating them by a healthy score would be the only way that Hibs wouldn't get into Europe. But events at Easter Road between Hibs and Rangers were completely different cos Scott McDonald had just scored a double against Celtic to effectively hand the championship to Rangers. All Rangers needed was a win. All Hibs needed was to not lose by any more goals. As such both teams stopped playing in the final 20 minutes as the status quo suited both teams.
  13. Fuckin hope not!! I see he's bought the old Royal Bank of Scotland building in Edinburgh and plans to open a branch of the Ukios Bank. How the hell does he think he's gonna run a profit on that bank? The only people who'll bank there will be Hearts fans ... and they're all minkers.
  14. That's what we need. We need a "minker" striker. We've got too many ponces. Minker strikers that spring to mind are Stevie Naesmith in his current form ... and Tam McManus in his form of about three years ago. McManus was immense for the Hibees about 3 or 4 years ago. Biggest thing I hated about him was the fact that he was a right jakey tink. Moaned his arse off about every single little thing that didn't go his way. These days, we breed too many panzy strikers. We drastically need to find a right mink from the gutter and bring him up to be a striker. Last decent minker we had was Deano. And he was AWESEOME! Why? Cos he stuck his elbows and studs in everywhere, moaned his arse off about everything, and really really got on the wick of the opposition players and fans.
  15. To quote those aweful Japanese wrestling duo Kaentai ... INDEEEEEEEEEED! What is this investment you speak of, Red Dragon.
  16. Quite possibly a wind-up ahead of the Blue Meanies match. However, it wouldn't be the first time Southgate has talked about Aberdeen in the past few months. He likens Middlesbrough to Aberdeen, a sleeping giant who just need the right man to steer the players in the right direction. It's clear from his previous comments about the Dons that he has watched us a few times. I wouldn't be surprised if he's taken quite a liking to Oor Russell. Although £1million is drastically below what I'd take for our most consistent and most accomplished defender. I'd be expecting at least double that value before even contemplating selling Anderson. Fuck it, we should do a Hibs, and tout Anderson for £6million, then we might have someone sniffing around with a bid of around £4million. That'd be nice :-)
  17. Hart is streets ahead of Wilson, and would be cheaper too! Still, I'd rather we kept our talented players rather than selling them off. Although every player has his price and 450k may be too much of a temptation, especially with Wiggy looking to cut the debt in any way he can.
  18. Cannae see it myself, unless Celtic offer him silly-money. He's a Dandy through and through, and jumped at the chance to come back to us from Lavvy. Be a big loss to us, but as has been said JC would find six Michael Harts for £450k. In this day and age, it's probably a fair valuation of Hart too!
  19. Langfield challenging at a corner?! Hey it's Langfield we've got in goals ... not Nick Colgan! Anyone remember his comical sprint at the end of the 2-0 match a few seasons ago? Tried to score a goal in the last minute of injury time for the Hibees but ended up watching Zerouali disappear into the distance to score into an open net. Thank God we don't have any keepers like that. Just about shat my pants when we were being linked with Colgan a couple of seasons ago!
  20. Still, it's up to him as a professional footballer to NOT react in those sorts of circumstances. It's this sort of reaction that got Gazza into trouble when he did the tin-flute gesture when warming up infront of the Celtic fans at Ibrox. They were baiting him, and he reacted. Lennon is a fuckwit. He's a piss-poor excuse for a footballer who has simply survived at Celtic because of the quality of players around him helping to make him look good. I've lost count of the number of times he has lost possession against quality opposition in European games. He's shite, and he knows he is. But he also knows he's got away with it for so long. If any other player said on a PA system "shut up, you sheep-shaggers", they'd be hauled infront of the SFA and disciplined accordingly. What makes this tatty-munching ginger gimp any different?
  21. I think we have the capability to do some damage to Rangers ... IF Lovell gets his scoring boots on. We MUST attack this game from our most comfortable formation. None of this 1-5-4 stuff that Jimmy keeps inventing. It's clear that our boys are at their best in a traditional 4-4-2. I'd like Miller to be paired up with Lovell for once. It'd be interesting to see what sort of damage these boys can do when they're on-form and on the park at the same time. Both have it in them to be clinical, natural finishers. And the pair of them and Mackie have a fairly good scoring record for us against the Huns .. ie I'm sure they've all scored over the past two seasons against them. But I reckon our best hope exists in Stevie Naesmith. He loves playing for Killie. And I seriously reckon he's not going to be playing in Scotland next season, and reckon he knows it too. One last fond farewell to the Rugby Park fans with a flurry of goals would certainly not be beyond his capability. If he did, he'd make us "vewy pwoud", to quote Sir Alex! My money is on us getting a draw with the huns, but Killie also getting a score-draw with Hearts.
  22. Yeah, saw that article in The Times too! That'd be a crackin signing if JC could pull it off.
  23. Hopefully your next post will be more constructive. Judging by the time of your post you weren't at the game, and therefore you can't comment on how he played today. Not much he could've done for either of the goals today and as was already said, he wasn't at fault for them. Not fair, mate! Some of us actually can't get to the games so decide to watch them on the internet or on Setanta ... which normally has MUCH better views of the game than you get in reality. I'd understand if it was the Dons vs Dunfermline. But almost ALL Celtic games are aired via Setanta!
  24. Okay. So it's as I said. We NEVER EVER do things the easy way. I'd hoped that Hibs would've put up a better fight than they did this weekend. But out of the gruesome twosome I always thought that Celtic would be the more difficult one to get any change out of. We never seem to raise our game against Celtic like we do against Rangers. Especially at the Tattybowl, I didn't expect us to get anything. I HOPED we would, but deep down I didn't think we would. But Rangers at Pittodrie?! That's a whole different matter!!
  25. Anderson's probably the exception to the rule. But let's face it, Mackie's nae exactly catching the eyes of the winning clubs, is he? Neither's Clark. The players that we've signed who've made an impact with us all seem to have one thing in common ... they have come from clubs with a winning-mentallity. Severin came from a very successful Hearts team. Jamie Smith came from Celtic via Den Haag. Nicholson came from arguably the most successful Dunfermline side ever ... and he moved to Dunfermline from the nine-in-a-row Rangers squad. These are the sorts of player that I'd rather we targetted, rather than players who know how to battle it out at the bottom end, but have no notion whatsoever of consistency and don't really know what a winning-mentality is.
