Close-season is always quiet for footy discussion forums. And we've not advertised that DT is actually up and running again yet as we're not finished tweaking it and building sections of the site. Vice-captain of a reserves side that includes the likes of O'Donoghue, Tiernan, Michie and Mark Peat is not exactly something I'd be happy to boast about.

Paying someone like we did with Billy Dodds to get rid of Stewart would've been a fantastic piece of business. I'm glad we're rid of wasters like Stewart, Muirhead, Morrison, the Young brothers and Rutkiewicz. We've been churning out real shite for a few years now, and like shite to a bear's fur, they tend to cling on to us for ages.

Stewart was just too lightweight to get past anyone. His finish at the Tattiebowl was sublime! But far too featherweight to be an effective SPL striker.

Yeah. He was an awesome striker! Seriously, he holds the record for being Australia's top international scorer by scoring 8 goals in one match. Yeah, okay so this match was versus American Samoa, but still! A goal every 11 minutes ain't bad by anyone's standards. And I remember Oshor Williams speaking to DandyDon and saying the management team back then had kept faith with Zdrillic because he was easily the most clinical striker the club had ... he was just quite depressed with the way his Aberdeen career had gone, and that had a knockon effect upon his footballing ability

Talking of auld scrotum sack, we don't really hear much from John Viola these days, do we?! Back in the day (early 2000s) every player he represented seemed to be "on their way to huge clubs on huge wages" ... only for Fergushun to go to Blackburn, Winters and Charlie Miller to go to Brann, Dadi to go to Livi, Whyte to go to Partick, and Adamczuk to languish in the Rangers reserves for five seasons. I take it by the lack of updates on his website (www.violafc.com) that things ain't going that well down ViolaFC ways!

Agree 100% with the red card there! Holt was a middle-of-the-road SPL player when he was at his peak. And that was about five or six years ago. Too old and slow for us now (says me who's a fan of a club who are currently singing the praises of Craig Brewster!)

Rangers have signed former West Ham and Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll on a one-year contract. I guess this means we'll be stuck with Langfield for another season, then!

I have never been a fan of him either, mate. I've only seen him a couple of times for the Dons, but remember him well from his Dunfermline and Dundee days. And I don't like him. But if Alex McLeish sees fit to nominate him as Scotland's backup keeper, then surely that's got to add a bit of value to him ... regardless of how shit he really is. £300k ain't a bad asking price for Scotland's Number Two! ("number two" is a pseudonym for shite. Funny how things turn out, eh?!)
