  1. ...and I don't mean drunk. Anyone heard anything about Sigma casuals locking dons fans in a pub by boarding up exits with tables and chairs, throwing in tear gas to the extent that a few dons fans will miss the match tonight due to facial burns?!
  2. Gary Caldwell to score the first against Dynamo tonight. Tenner on at 33/1.
  3. Have to say I'm actaully starting to get excited about this game. European nights at Pittodrie and all that...
  4. When I bought my tickets yesterday, the guy at the ticket offcie estimated that they had sold about 9,000 tickets at that stage (4pm). I thought it was maybe a bit more than that, as getting seats together in the South Stand middle sections was impossible.
  5. IN/OUT: In Prematch: At home MATCH: South Stand POSTMATCH: Home
  6. EE saying that Johnson deal will be concluded in time for him to play in the Europe tie. Worringly enough, Mark McGhee is also quoted as saying that the player will likely make a few howlers sa he gets adjusted to playing for us... Apparently he has a tendency to rush out and try and win every high ball, but AFC'will sort that'.
  7. No access to AFC site at work - does anyone know how much the tickets cost for the Sigma game at Todders next week?
  8. McDonald looked like captain material in the Phd gam last night - always talking, always wanting the ball. The more I see him, the more he looks a class act.
  9. Was a decent run-out for the players. Peterhead were 2-0 up after about 15/20 mins, despite Aberdeen having the ball for 99% of that time. Cameron scored a nice free kick for them, and then their finish for the second was decent. A through ball was played to mackie for the pen - he got sandwiched between two defenders and went down. I was right beside the incident and was never a penalty in a million years - I think both PFC players actually got the ball. Anyway Miller stepped up and placed it calmly to the keeper's left. Miller alos had a nice volley which rattled the crossbar. In the second half, Considine went off injured after about 30 secs - he went doen with nobody around which was a worry, although he did run off to be substitituded by Holm. Holm was suspect at high balls, and let it bounce over him a couple of times when he should have dealt with it - Bavidge should have nicked a last-gasp equaliser because of this when he was left clean through. Miller and Mackie were replaced by Paton and McGuire who both looked very hungry. Aluko picked up a loose ball just outside the PFC box, skinned two folk then sent the keeper the wrong way with a cool finish into the bottom corner. McGuire then played in Paton for a lovely low finish, before the roles were reversed to see Mcguire shot saved well by keeper. Miller, Aluko, paton, McGuire, Mcdonald played very well - the latter ALWAYS wanting the ball. Kerr was ok, I would say that McDonald would be a much better captain though. Considine went off injured, as did Sammy Stewart five mins after coming on. Foster was involved a lot but his passing was way off - we were reminded of his pace, though, so he would be a real weapon as a winger imo. All in all was a decent game with some positives. Langfield had nothing to do all night except pick the ball out of the net twice.
  10. Does anyone have an idea of what ticket prices will be? If I remember rightly, last year was ƂĀ£12. Normal Peterhead games are that price too. I'm assuming you can pay at the gate again.
  11. Can someone please confirm the date/kick off time for the match v Peterhead @ Balmoor? AFC site is blocked at work and BBC doesn't seem to list all the friendlies. Cheers in advance.
  12. Move on! He is a decent player, but absoloutely no point in signing a guy who clearly wants to play elsewhere, and would have been moving on from here in no time anyway.
  13. I think we can be reasonably happy with that start. The Celtic game should be a cracker, especially given what has happened with McGhee over the summer. With a (likely) full house, think we can get at least a point in that one. The four games after are all winnable, so we should be in a very healthy position after the first five games

    Summer

Going on a working trip to Houston for two weeks in May, then off to Turkey with the missus for a two week holiday in June. Then it's back to a (hopefully) sunny Aberdeen to sort out new house stuff.
  15. In the Birmingham v Wolves game tonight (2 top sides in the Championship) I think I might have a fiver each on the following: Liam Ridgwell 1st goalscorer (40/1, Betfred) Frank Queudrue 1st goalscorer (50/1, Betfred) When games are tight/important like this one, I ususally have the odd fiver on a big centre back that can come forward at corners and get a header in at goal. Quedrue also takes free kicks and the odd penalty.
  16. They have all been officially named now, apart from one. The EE got that story wrong about one of the guys being involved in the ditching in February. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/north_east/7979475.stm Sympathies to the families of those involved.
  17. Disgraceful reporting by the Daily Mail, if they are wrong. Perhaps they meant to refer to the previous crash?
  18. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1166430/Helicopter-carrying-16-people-ditches-North-Sea.html According to the Daily Mail, everyone has survived.
  19. After another very dissapointing cup defeat against lower league opposition, is it now time for Jimmy to go? Personally, I think he should be resign - not just because of this defeat, though. It seems like he has taken us as far as we can go, and we should be thankful for what he has achieved in his time here. But we simply are not going to progress with him as manager, in my opinion.
  20. I have never been part of the 'Jimmy must go' Brigade, until now. For him to stand in that dugout last night, and watch us punt endless amounts of high passes to Mackie and McGuire, who didn't win a single high ball the whole night, without making a change early enough to make a difference was an absoloute disgrace. We could all see that the pitch would not allow passing on the ground - I accept that. So we had to play a lot of high balls. But the only forward player we had available last night who could win the high balls and bring the other striker/midfielders into play was Tommy Wright, and Calderwood gives him the last 15 out of 120 minutes to do something. Tommy won lots of high balls in that time, and was available in the box for Smith and Aluko to cross the ball in for him. Well you'd think he would leave both wingers on to provide him some service, but no. He takes Aluko off and not Mackie - there is just no excuse for that. Aluko was clearly still full of running, and Mackie had done NOTHING the whole game. Incredible. Wright should. have been on with at least 20 mins of normal time to go, and I'm positive we would have got a gola and won the match.
  21. If I can be bothered walking up Union Street to Betfred tonight I will put a couple of quid on that. Seems very good value for a guy in decent form, desperate to score to keep his place in the team etc...
  22. I think the above point sums up the situation perfectly. He's a very good player at SPL level, don't think anyone can doubt that. But an excellent player who can never play due to injury is a complete waste of time/money. He has been given enough time to recover, so if he can't ever get back to full fitness then he has to be punted. I really hope he gets over his injury troubles though, and be the player that he was a couple of seasons ago.
