There are always going to be differing versions of what did or didn't kick this off, but bottom line appears to be this in the main seems to happen in Spain, Turkey, and Italy. I fail to see that the Spanish police don't really know who the Madrid troublemakers are. What did they do to stop this kicking off ? I'll hazard a guess not a lot, and as usual probably took the easy option and hit out at innocents to try and break it up. This seems to happen regularly with Scottish teams in Spain. there has to be a common denominator. For officials of our club and Grampian's finest to have been drawn in to it just kind of proves the point. UEFA have to take a stand with them, if the safety of innocent people wanting to attend a football match can't be guaranteed. I'm pleased to say that our trip was relatively hassle free, found the Spaniards in hotel/bars etc to be first class and welcoming. Even asked numerous police for directions and all helpful and happy to chat/help. There are I beleive differing types of police force in Spain, and it would appear that there attitude differs considerably. Anyway back home now, after Friday night in Temple Bar, Dublin.... fucking fifteen euros for a voddie and coke and a pint is outrageous by the way.
