When yer 'controlled' by fossil fuel companies and have pretty much exhausted yer own resources its time to pick on countries who have some which as far enough away that any retaliation doesnt land on yer own citizens doorstep. Despite the bluff and bluster they would/ will only send their war machine into Canada or Mexico as a complete last resort ie Mad Max has become a reality. America is continuing what the Brits, french, belgians, dutch, italians, germans were up to 120 years ago except now its in surround sound, 3D, Imax and they are leaving the occupation of the invaded territory to their smaller henchmen rather than flooding it with their own citizens on the proviso the locals cant handle things. A country that prided itself on being great and yet despite spying on the world they still accept getting 20mpg and minimal power from massive engines as 'good'. Could be a rumour but seem to recall reading GM/ ford etc tried to get VW, Toyota, Honda etc either kicked out or at least hit with a 'foreigner' tax on the basis they were killing the yankee models with their efficiancy, reliability etc. Perhaps the lawyers should have been looking at the fossil fuel companies who love how much 'gas' everyone burns. I await to see who they invade to steal water from. Harder to ship that stuff thousands of miles in large container ships without it going off

I think the word 'normal' can be linked to a fuckload of the problems humans have brought upon themselves. What is 'normal' to one person can be odd/ frustating/ scary/ criminal and so on to the next. It opens your eyes when you suddenly find yourself as an alleged 'adult' discussing the things your family or friend groups did in the past sometimes and pieces of an eternal jigsaw start falling into place. Perhaps the rose tinted specs fall off your memories, or you suddenly develop extreme empathy for someone you didnt get on with at school. The way humanity has and still is 'playing god' should see words like 'normal' relegated to the history books. If you have the confidence nay arrogance to declare yourself 'normal' compared to anyone other than yourself Id say start thinking a bit more. My birthday is closer to the second world war than to today. What exactly was 'normal' to someone my age in the 1940s? What was 'normal' to someone my age in the 1840s? 'Normal' can be weaponised in the same way as 'tradition' is. An excuse to hold onto something which when actually considered properly makes no sense sometimes to the detrimint of society A device to spread division for ill gotten gains and ulterior motives Brexit springs to mind. A catastrophic piece of self harm part of which was driven by the belief that 'modern britain' wasnt normal, and the knowledge that lots of people do things without taking even an extra 5seconds to consider.it. The only thing Id say is 'normal' among humans is the inevitable path to self destruction through over confidence in our own abilities and an insatiable blood lust to consume until its all gone. Be careful who you put your faith and support in and always consider 'could I handle it if what I believe and trust was ever found to be a lie/ secretly abhorrent. If yer human you will eventually become a dickhead. The only way I see to cope with that is to endeavour to be less of a.dickhead the more you learn. Anyway.politics then. Im seeing the Green bloke getting a lot of praise. Perhaps he has a bit of sense and wont send his candidates around doorstepping people with the message to protest something local which is already too late to stop. And finally id encourage you all to read 'private eye' occssionally. Its not online so can give yer eyes and brain a rest from 'Ziggy's box of distraction' and take comfort in turnimg a paper page

Dangers of trying to form a 'society' when every resident has their own agenda The book this references is 'A libertarian walks into a bear' by Matthew Hongoltz-Hetling

Im all for it provided they dont play politics by deciding to just propose things without costing and change free to 'free at the point of service'. Then perhaps balance things out making bus/ public transport 'not for profit' and use the extra revenew from Glasgow, Edinburgh etc to subcidise services in rural areas. Of course they could also break the bullshit and and say ' right things in the sick little nimby island have gone seriously downhill since 2008. You the voters have a choice. We carry on as we are with some people genuinly not knowing that the tax in yer pay cheque is for schools, hospitals, roads and so on (a real downer for me was a conversation I had with a much younger highly educated professional who had somehow gone through their adult life thinking income tax and national insurance was just something to pay the politicians.....well we had a tory government at the time so there is some merit) or we perhaps start emulating what those crazy Danes, Norwegians, Swedes etc have been doing. Start thinking as a society and not the Thatcherite ME ME ME If a politician offers a tax cut start asking what that extra £6 a year in yer pocket will actually cost you (a school, hospital ward, dentist, GPs fire station, police station etc) If a government tells you they will freeze council tax start actually ondering how the fuck yer local authority is going pay for things after 5 years of inflation. In fact just forget the whole thing. Country is fucked, everyone loves their own echo chamber so may as well throw ourselves in front of a local bus assuming they havent cut the service before you reach the pavement

Im getting ever more confident the group games will end up being played on a public park, jumpers for goals, by locals who are picked based on what they found using Ancestry.com

There is a mental block or possibly some weird virus that infects almost every dons player the moment they sign the contract that celtic are Brazil 1970 so dont even think about trying to attack or consider competing. Seemed to start appearing around about April 1996 when the tic won 5-0 at Parkhead. My ex (aussie) used to say a similar virus had infected all scottish sport based on what she witnessed in football, rugby etc when she was here. Someone needs to get down to the Hampden and Murrayfield physio rooms and pick up some medication for those in red. Perhaps should the unthinkable happen and a new stadium actually gets built, this virus might stay behind in the remnants of pittodrie free to wreak havoc on all those who live in the new flats eventually leading to a Danny Robins podcast

If memory serves me right the next day the red tops had a story of a Tic fan who bet his entire life savings (circa £13k) on a Celtic victory at odds of 1-13. Russell Anderson's header snatched his £1k profit and possibly his marriage too

As does the kids rooms being decorated with movie posters and memorabilia which wouldnt have been available. Cynic in me suspects a mid 20s intern was told to research the 80s and decided Youtube and tiktok were the best sources
