Rumours that Ramsay is going for a medical at Liverpool. The more I think about this, the more I think we are getting a crap deal if the fee of ÂŁ3.5m is to be believed. This is a player they are making us believe is one of the best young right backs in Europe, going to one of the richest clubs yet we are getting about the same fee as Forest paid for McKenna almost two years ago? We should be holding out for a lot more cash. I would have thought the chance of a big sell on from Liverpool will be slimmer that Forest selling on McKenna too.

Dustin Johnson has resigned from the PGA Tour. First proper big name to commit to the Saudi money league. A massive shake up about to happen to the establishment in golf. I am suspecting McIlroy will be wishing he kept his cards closer to his chest now. Wonder what would happen if the Open and Masters announced that these guys would be ineligible to play in their tournaments?

I thought Hickey did pretty well but Robertson looked like it was one game too many this season and needs a good rest. Very uninspiring stuff from us last night overall, got the impression we massively under-estimated how good the Ukrainian's actually were. I think we also got caught up too much in the politics of it all and were a bit too nice in our approach instead of hammering into them. Clarke has been good so far but got a few things wrong last night. Fully expect Ukraine to beat Wales on Sunday. Wales are not in the same league as those guys last night.

Ferguson's replacement leaves his previous job https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61659836 -
The buying the title thing is an interesting one. Ferguson is labelled a genius for what he achieved at Man U but in those years the financial disparity between United and the rest was ridiculous. Whenever a top player became available they blew the other teams out of the market (Keane, Cole, Ferdinand, Berbatov etc). They basically just bought everyone else’s best player but it never gets mentioned

Pires, Henry and Bergkamp. Pires was a genius, so underated.

No one has got the balls to hold onto a manager and see the season out. The bottom five in England have all sacked a manager this season and none of them can really say it has made much of a difference.

You're right about the Rangers thing sheepheid, there absolutely is an obsession about it amongst our support. This incident is not just about that though, it's about publicly showing support for one club whilst being employed by another, the fact that it is Rangers as well will just rub our fans up the wrong way. I think it is wrong for any player or manager to be seen to be supporting another club. If Steven Gerrard turns up at the Champions League final, that would bug me as an Aston Villa supporter, in the same way as if Frank Lampard had been in the Chelsea end at the FA Cup final, it just looks unprofessional.

Summer 2022 Transfer Thread

Problem that Goodwin has got is that his honeymoon period has already passed. He's taken the job at a bad time because he could not get his own players in until June. Let's say he only wins 3 games out of his first 15 next season, the press will twist this by combining the "data" from the end of the previous season to say that he has only won 4 out of 30 games or whatever it is as they seem to do and fans latch straight on to these things instead of seeing it for what it really is. It's all very well saying give him 3 transfer windows but the fans wanted Glass out by Christmas. People just won't accept not winning games for very long. -
It's naive at best by McCrorie, he's just digging his own grave doing something like that. His brother was never going to play so that one is just a convenient get out. He's been at our club for over a year now and will be well aware of the bad feeling there is for his former employers, no excuse for being a plank.

Incredible difference. The desire to work, press and hassle Arsenal last night was great. On paper, Howe’s signings look pretty mediocre but have brought about a huge change in attitude. The boy Bruno in midfield looks a real find.
-
Goodwin’s been crap so far. 2 wins from 11 games is pathetic and he has put himself under the cosh already. If next season doesn’t start well, he will be under real pressure to keep his job. Got to agree with Orlando in that he has done nothing to prove he is the right man for the job.

Great to see Andy Robertson complete his Liverpool medal collection today. Nae bad for a wee guy fae Scotland. Once he lifts the World Cup in December he might as well call it a day

Ferguson undoubtedly suffers from "my dad and uncle are huns, so am I" syndrome from our support. He came into our side just before his 19th birthday and has now played 168 games at only 22 years of age, scoring 37 goals. Those stats are terrific for a guy of his age and if he had been "one of our own" the fans would love him. Yes, those are only numbers and not the full story of course but have to feel that Ferguson has not been afforded the slack that other young players have been whilst he has been with us, he doesn't seem to escape the wrath of the fans like the other youngsters do. Ramsay and Mackenzie have had plenty bad games but don't get nearly as much criticism as Ferguson has taken over the years. He was bought for a few hundred thousand pounds and if we can make a couple of million by selling him, he will have been a cracking bit of business. -
Saints (Perth) vs dons

Assuming your post is not shite RedKev, the fact it is getting leaked out is far more concerning than the actual tactics themselves. -

Heard this being discussed on a podcast today so I'll throw it out there and wait for the inevitable bile and hatred that comes after........... If Rangers win the Europa League, does it eclipse Celtic's 1967 win and how do those compare to the Dons in 1983? Just to add a bit to that, Celtic faced the following opposition in 1967, playing 9 games: First round - Zurich (Switzerland), aggregate 5-0 Second round - Nantes (France), aggregate 6-2 Quarters - Vojvodina (Yugoslavia), aggregate 2-1 Semis - Dukla Prague (Czechoslovakia), aggregate 3-1 Final - Inter Milan (Italy) 2-1 Rangers faced the following teams this year playing 17 games: Playoff - Alashkert (Armenia), aggregate 1-0 Group - Lyon (France) (1-1 and 2-0 loss) Group - Sparta Prague (Czech) (1-0 loss and 2-0 win) Group - Brondby (Denmark) (1-1 and 2-0 win) Play off - Dortmund (Germany), aggregate 6-4 Round of 16 - Red Star Belgrade (Serbia), aggregate 3-2 Quarters - Braga (Portugal), aggregate 3-2 Semis - Leipzig (Germany), aggregate 3-2 Final - Frankfurt (Germany) In 1983 we played 11 games facing: First round - Sion (Switzerland), aggregate 11-1 Second round - Dinamo Tirana (Albania), aggregate 1-0 Third round - Lech Poznan (Poland), aggregate 3-0 Quarters - Bayern Munich (West Germany), aggregate 3-2 Semis - Waterschei (Belgium), aggregate 5-2 Final - Real Madrid (Spain) 2-1 -

Either "We think he is too shite for us" or "The boy's a dick and he's not getting near my first team squad" -
So Dundee give themselves a lifeline. They need to win away at Livi on Sunday and hope St Johnstone lose at home to us and away to Hibs, they also need to overturn a five goal difference which is not impossible over three games. Certainly makes it interesting.

Just read this....I mean has the world lost its sense of humour or something? Are you not allowed to take the piss out of anything any more? And does this mean our Gorgie/Glasgow/Dundee slums song must go? Maybe we can't even sing about ourselves being sheep shaggers either in case someone gets offended. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61376475

New director - Tom Crotty
wokinginashearerwonderland replied to manc_don's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Just read that he was part of a failed bid to buy Chelsea. Begs the question, is he actually allowed to do that? In the unlikely event of us ever facing them in Europe, he would have a foot in both camps? Just seems wrong that you could be involved in running two clubs at the same time. -

Don’t disagree at all there Slim but there is absolutely zero chance Ramsay will ever become Liverpool’s first choice right back while Trent is there. Alexander-Arnold is not just any old full back, the guy is on a totally different level and could probably fetch £100M+ on the transfer market. Am guessing he would easily be in the top 10 players in the EPL in most peoples eyes. I’m not knocking Ramsay’s ability nor his potential but it is easy to see things through rose tinted glasses when looking at one of your own teams players. Comparing with McKenna for example, he was already an international before moving to England, even captaining Scotland on one occasion I think and he “only” got a move to the Championship. Ramsay has not even made the Scotland squad yet, never mind the team. I like player but I’m not totally getting the hype to be honest. Too many people looking at the data and too few looking at what he is actually doing on the pitch. The Dons are stoking the fire because they want a high fee for him, which is only natural of course. -

If these rumours are true, it is an interesting debate as to whether Ramsay should go to Anfield and become Trent's understudy. TAA has played 41 times this season, been injured/corona for 4 and been left out of 11 other games. If you are Ramsay, would you rather stay at the Dons, play 40 games a season and potentially push your way into the Scotland squad? Remember the World Cup is in December so if he pulls his finger out he could potentially be there. or................take the coin, leave for Anfield and play 15 games next season in the early rounds of their cups and the meaningless games at the end of the Champions League group stages. I think he would more than likely up being loaned out the following season and sold on to Burnley or Swansea a couple of years down the line. Very tough to turn down Liverpool if the chance came along though. -
Celtic making a decent fist of trying to bottle it big time

I wonder about the coaching in respect of Bates and Gallagher. Both of these lads have played a few times for Scotland and Gallagher in particular looked a real solid defender for the national team in the Euro qualification. You don’t just fluke your way into the national team, they both played their way in and have not suddenly become bad players. Not suggesting they are world beaters but a back line of those two plus Lewis, Ramsay and A N other should be well capable of keeping clean sheets against St Mirren, Ross County and the other shitey teams in our league. Something sadly amiss with the tactics and coaching both with the Glass regime and the start of the Goodwin era.

One clean sheet in the last 18 games (Edinburgh City in the cup) so a 1-0 win highly unlikely but let's hope so
