I concur, I have seen all of those other players mentioned by Reekie and none ever came close to single handedly destroying our chances. An equivalent performance from Kombuare would have to have seen him scoring 3 own goals. Wasnt his debut though, that was against Ayr

Webster was a good quality player but when on loan at Bristol last season he was barely fit enough to play.

Im not certain that scoring goals in the English 3rd division, where most of his goals have come, is an indicator that he can do it for us. The game is littered with players who score loads of goals at lower levels but cant find the net at a higher level. The, "he knows where the net is" argument doesn't wash but heres hoping.

I dont really remember us ever using Barry Nicholson, Michael Hart and Chris Clarks wages fully on new players so wouldn't be surprised if we take the opportunity to cut back on the wage bill which would make good sense in the current climate.

I kind of get the impression that Smiths wage would get swallowed up by Hughes. Can we afford them both?

I'm with Bobby on this. Football is all about confidence so an easy home tie with a big crowd would get us off to a flyer.

Does McGhee always play 4-3-3? Seem to remember reading that he would assess the players available before settling on a formation that suited.

I am sitting here pondering McGhees favoured 4-3-3 tactics and wondering how our current crop will get on with this system and whether the JMG mob with their 'play 4-4-2 and you will win most weeks, its not rocket science' mantra will appreciate it. I also think that Jimmy much vaunted, but often hidden, tactical nous came to the fore in some of our European games with some great performances and ultimately only being let down by the inferior players at his disposal whereas McGhees team in Europe was hammered home and away looking tactially inept. Interesting times ahead.

Celtic fans certainly not happy at all at the prospect of McGhee as manager so if they appoint him it will be interesting. Talk of a high profile assistant to sweeten the deal though. Bookies and betfair odds up and down like a yo-yo so nobody seems to really know what is going on.

I meant to say he was solid in defence and played well Your use of the donstalk man of the match ratings to prove anything is an interesting approach though.

I think his performances at the end of the season were far better than mediocre. He was outstanding the last 6 weeks or so of the season and really showed what an influential player he can be.

I thought he had come onto a game and looked steady enough when played at centre half. New manager now has some real shortages in the centre of defence
