  1. As much as I dislike the guy Milne, we are weeks away from start of season, days away from crucial QR3 v Apollon and the obsession with rangers is cranking up a gear. Can we not leave this to Celtic. Aside from that the guy Milne is a clown. What's he doing commenting on this at all? Quick statement 'AFC have no comment to make on HMRC judgement' would have been enough on AFC website. Also further injunctions, making titles void and removing trophy wins it involves Years and years of legal arguments and wrangling as has been case in Series A. The remove titles from them thing, sorry its a petty Celtic/Rangers argument our club should not be getting dragged into. A bit like blue kit drama. We're better than this, and above the pathetic bitterness that shadows old firm rivalry. The club chairman is an idiot. His timing is poor but move on FFS - leave Celtic to fight arguments about titles none of which we were anywhere near winning.
  2. It's nothing to do with shit stirring. It's bugger all to do with west coast media. Milne has long been a driver of the 10 team SPL; an SPL that he wants to include Hearts, Hibs, Celtic, Rangers and us. He wants a minimum 4 games per season v Rangers and Celtic/ He is totally and utterly business minded and colleagues with Regan and Doncaster. He sides with them - they are his colleagues at the top of the game. He is not at all a progressive man. He would not in any way side with or make a statement calling for whatever against Rangers. For what's it's worth I can't stand the clown. Maybe he provides McInnes with stability but its about time. Largely his tenure has been a failure. He is a clown and has the communication skills of a dumbbell. Total country bumpkin. For what its worth I don't feel strongly about Rangers. I could not give a flying hoot about them or whatever.
  3. Milne has hosted dinners at his house in Bieldside with Doncaster and Regan. They stayed overnight - and get the first train in morning back out of Aberdeen. Tory boy wants a 10 team top flight, he wants to be guaranteed 4 games v Celtic/Rangers each season.
  4. AEK Larnaca are home 1st leg. Away when we're in Cyprus. There are 3+ stadia in larnaca anyway.
  5. Will be on Thursday 3th Aug at AEK Larnaca Stadium (74km from Limassol). TBC officially by club but that is what Apollon and UEFA have announced. The night before 2nd (Wed) AEL Limassol v Austria Vienna in Larnaca but at Anorthosis Famagusta stadium.
  6. I beat myself up about many things in life. Posts on Donstalk are not amongst them.
  7. Yeah, I thought they'd lose based on last week. I think lots of us were doom and gloom until 70th minute of second leg. Then again some of us in here think Ryan Christie shouldn't be playing for Aberdeen. Guess lots of users bring different means of doom and gloom to the virtual paryy?!
  8. Imagine getting facts wrong a fitba forum. God knows bad is that. RU Looking for some sort of pleasure from another user saying 'sorry'. Dunter - Don't see Hibs section as having been a success yet. Nowhere near on par with those at motherwell, rangers, Celtic.
  9. Stockley played his role tonight. Team game - all 13 played a role. What is clear is 1-1 at home 1st leg is sometimes better than 1-0 win. The home team tonight Siroki wanted to hold out for 0-0 but couldn't. I'd take a 0-0 or a 1-1 home v Apollon next week easy. We have players to unlock defences as I presume it will be hotter than it was in Bosnia in Cyprus.
  10. Very proud of the team. Great 2nd half performance, lots of chances, lots of good finishing. Siroki was not up to much but they were spoiling stuff. Need to step up now for Apollon - they will be better but play like that and we can go through to Play off. Impressed by Christie, sorry, by far the best player we have. Technically super, passing, movement.
  11. Scrappy on a tight pitch. Need to go for broke now and impose pressure.
  12. Game is wide open and scrappy. Its wide open they are not up to much. We need crosses and free kicks into the penalty spot and 6yard box and need another striker on now.
  13. O'Conner is taking corners. Not started with enough fire, wasted 3 free kicks and Siroki are attacking right side (Considine side).
  14. An online footy argument over whom has got more ST holders than who is not going to solve the eternal problem of atmosphere at 'Todders.
  15. Look there is this obsession with Aberdeen (and lots of clubs) as regards numbers. "We took 3k to hearts, we took 4k to St Johnstone, we had 17k v Siroki Brijeg" etc etc etc. It matters to accountants what numbers are coming in the gates but it's not meaning much to the players on the field during 90 minutes. I'm not sure the Hibs singing section will be up to much TBH - its not in same league as the one at Rangers or Celtic but Hibs is trying to do it properly. The questions are for is, and are on: What happened to the Red Ultras? Gone, finito, goodnight Vienna. Where is and when will we be getting a standing section? Open question. Where is our singing section? None When is the club going to do anything radical about Pittodrie atmosphere? ???????
  16. The 14500 figure was the aim. I think official its 12500 they sold. My mistake. Still 2k more than us - why? The singing section bit at East Stand at Hibs - not sure it will be that good. But they are at least trying it and trying to make it work officially.
  17. I wouldn't worry too much. Those hurt will be at the game wont stop them. It's also nothing to do with Siroki Brijeg either rather Velez Mostar fans. Folk over there 150 of them, said they are enjoying it, welcomed and it came as a shock but they'll are all alright. Could have been worse vicious though it was.
  18. What you have to understand is the amount of politics with this issue. The club is desperate to move at any cost to Kingsford and that in itself is hugely political. They are also desperate to be some sort of community family club at all costs which means a singing style section is a complete opposite to what they see themselves as wanting to be i.e. a fluffy family community club. Various sections within Pittodrie have been given over to singing but these have been political and half arsed. Upper RDS, Lower Y, Merkland side - but the club have never done it with any sort of commitment or honesty as basically, the people that run security are quite devious, duplicitous and to be frank former police Scotland (which AFC Community Trust are also underneath it all - former police). Many many clubs in Scotland have led the way in singing sections. As in going against the tide of the Taylor Report and allowing fans to stand and sing. Hibs doing it, Celtic did it, Rangers did it, Motherwell has done it - all successful. It takes effort from the club (management, strategy, will from club rulers) to make it work not a group of 15 guys with 30 teenagers in tow. At Aberdeen FC there is not a will to make it work. Hibs, for example, has sold 14,700 season tickets and administrated singing section properly. all be it this might be temporary that is 4,000 ST more overall than us a shameful indictment of our club. Its virtually impossible for a group - red ultras to succeed at Pittodrie given what is inside Pittodrie decision making corridors. A shadow number of guys have tried to work with Community Trust, SLO recently - this display fund thing - but the 1st game of season v Siroki.........Pittodrie was as flat as a pancake. There is no atmosphere inside Pittodrie whatsoever providing that support the players need. And frankly I dont think Messrs Fraser, Milne, Prockter, Yule care.
  19. Some familiar Dons fans got attacked tonight in Mostar. There are some folk injured.
  20. The area in the Merkland was cordoned off and was reinforced with stewards. How can they possibly hope to connect with a poorly populated Merkland when its empty most of the time? How can those in the Merkland connect with the majority who bring absolutely nothing to the event other than sit and say nothing? It is the clubs fault. The club needs to have a safe standing section with space for 2,500.
  21. Someone asked at the start of this thread - what happened to the Red Ultras. The answer is they do not exist anymore. As to 'them & us'; they look down at us, we are better fans than them perceptions and they are making too much noise etc politics. It's very tiresome for both sides - that is part of the reason why RU do not exist anymore. People get fed up with all this petty tit for tat arguments especially when we all support the same team. In all honesty, I see no hope whatsoever for any atmosphere creation at Pittodrie or in the eventuality of a Kingsford move. Not now, now next season or in next 10 years. The vast majority who follow Aberdeen have no interest in making a racket at Pittodrie nor do they want others making a racket and have no desire to provide any sort of passionate support to the team on the pitch. There is an obsession with numbers but no desire to make noise. Alongside that, the club rulers do not want any singing section and are a very unprogressive group of people. They do not want flags, they do not want anything whatsoever that could be labelled 'atmosphere' - as if they did a proper no holds barred area would have been put in place a long time ago. All they want is to attract 'families'. Just as a final note. All over Europe there are stadiums with same attitudes at Aberdeen. But the difference is that there is choice, consumer choice i.e. a standing section, a family section, a miserable sods section (sic) and section for VIP's. At Aberdeen we have no choice whatsoever meaning there is only going to be a conflict between those who wish to stand and those who want to sit. By rights of logic to counteract that conflict the club as the stadium owners could do something about it like Celtic did and create a 3600 standing area. Will they do this, have they done this No, they have not.
  22. Understanding of Storey is that a move away has been discussed between him and McInnes but he wants to stay for the length of his deal and prove himself. I might change if Thistle offers him same money or buy out his contract.
  23. Too many fans already do go elsewhere including the cinema come game time. They already look forward to the away games more - giving money to other clubs. 11k to 12,000 attendances are not really making much money for the club really. There is a hell of a lot of politics as regards the atmosphere issue at Pittodrie which culminated in the departure of the RU thing. The Police would ensure that unallocated seating next to away areas would never be allowed to happen meaning all these arguments and sit down, stand up stuff goes on and on. It's not all a lost cause but probably is unless club changes its attitude.
  24. I'm sure you knew what I mean. As far as I am aware the Red Ultras were about 15+ maximum. The rest were people/ordinary fans desperate for a bit of atmosphere i.e. ordinary punters who congregated alongside them. There is no getting away from it - they and anyone standing next to them were often looked upon as some sort of aliens beings from planet ZOG by majority who come and sit and say bugger all and offer nothing. In addition, these idiots in yellow jackets would swarm around red ultras section at the slightest hint of a unified hand clap. They were treated very badly for no reason other than being different and making a noise. Some of these guys were refused the use of a megaphone on match day by the club as the club felt that families seeing one might think there was a fire alert in the stadium!!!!
  25. The new SLO is a long serving member of the ticket office, customer service team. She is a very nice lady - though it's a sham appointment that is indicative of the club and its attitudes. While hundreds were outside the Merkland stand not able to get in due to a ticket muck up, the SLO was on the pitchside with the match mascot with a fluffy Angus the bull in her hand. Not sorting out issues, not coming to help. As for DST - Dons Supporters Together. Great intentions, some great people I am sure but there are about as much use as a chocolate teapot. They have zero influence, are useless and have no ability whatsoever as a fans group to change attitudes within the club. Naturally, there is the issue with the culture within Pittodrie both in the marble halls of Pittodrie and within the fans in stands on match day. Years of unprogressive attitudes from the top have created a sense of apathy on the terraces amongst the support. All over the world, there are singing/standing areas for fans. Celtic have one and are the only one in the UK progressive enough to make it work. I would say the support inside Pittodrie is appalling and embarrassingly poor. There an obsession with numbers but numbers mean something to the Accountants but nothing to the team when you have 12-14 Siroki Brijeg fans having more fun than 16k+ dons fans. The guy sitting next to me v Siroki never even got up to clap the goal from Aberdeen. Just sat with arms folded whole game wearing a Dons shirt eating pies. What is the solution to all this. I am not sure there is one. Red Ultras were hounded out but a combination of club vengefulness, narrow mindedness and nastiness. The fans didnt like them as they were perceived to be 'casuals' or 'too noisy' or 'arrogant' or 'seperate'. Every single effort at a singing section with Pittodrie over the last 5 years has been half arsed tokenism by the club. Stewards have treated those in them like Myra Hindlay and Ian Brady. Whatever, fans or club there is no doubt the club has a problem which it needs to address. It is a problem as there is none, zero atmospheres within Pittodrie. It is a miserable place with no passion, no enthusiasm, no intensity and this fundamentally lets down the team on the pitch at crucial times when they need that little extra. What will Siroki have on Thursday? That is right, a signing section with a couple of hundred fans. Chanting the whole game. And what do our club do to those spending hard earned money travelling to Bosnia? Thats right the warn them via the club website not too 1: Chant anything bad to players on the pitch. O.O.T - that stands for OUT OF TOUCH.
