  1. I remember them losing 12 - 4 on aggregate Eintracht Frankfurt in 1960.... hopefully that's roughly the score tonight.
  2. And now 3
  3. Presumably you don't think they'll win the league and cup double?
  4. Didn't the new club have something like 12 home games in a row when they reformed - I seem to remember asking my loon what were the odds of that happening as part of his Uni course involved statistics and he said it was 1 in 4096, so nothing underhand there.
  5. Haha...I did wonder what the hell I was watching the highlights, thought it was one of the AI/Chatgpt thingies.
  6. Can't believe that any footballer would try to stop the ball when he was chasing the ball towards the byeline...even Duk against the same opponents a couple of season ago knew enough to wrap his foot round the ball and flash it into the 6-yd box. Even if he had managed to stop it and turn, their defenders would have been back and set. Well at least he managed to win a couple of headers today!
  7. I was taught (albeit at Northfield JS school - it's an academy now!) that a city had to have a Cathedral. Funnily enough, for 25 years I lived in Welwyn Garden City (no cathedral).

  9. Apologies...I thought you youngsters were glued to your telephones (sic) 24/7.
  10. Septic have just scored...the greeting git with the goal...but it's been disallowed as it hit his tear duct, sorry, arm. Non-news story, Tierney off injured.
  11. I never thought of that...thanks for your insight.. Just thought that Panda's inside knowledge would have been beneficial, guess the poor guy is afraid of an NDA!
  12. Any idea why the BBC comment at the final whistle was "Points dropped on day one", rather than "Points saved on day one"? Unless they were talking about Motherwell
  13. Wimbledon...used to really enjoy watching the likes of Borg, McEnroe, Edberg, Becker, Goolagong, Navritilova, Graff. Now we have 2 drug cheats winning - Sinner "twice tested positive for clostebol, a banned anabolic steroid, in March of 2024"; "Iga Swiatek's case also caused some surprise, with the women's world No 2 accepting a one-month suspension in November after testing positive for the banned substance trimetazidine". Ben Johnson should be given back his gold medal.
  14. It wasn't shirts, they've all got nameplates above their own section. The tour was enjoyable, the guide was very engaging and knowledgeable and getting up close to the Cup was great.
  15. I did the stadium tour yesterday and in the home dressing room each player had his own named place but there wasn't any mention of Ambrose, Rubi, Jensen R. but Vinnie's was still there. Make of that what you will.
  16. Did you watch that last game...read this morning that it lasted 4 hours 'cos of a wee bitty rain.
  17. Isn't "turn coat" a reversible jacket?
  18. That's brilliant...you should market it on, say, a scarf or a mug or even write it on a wall somewhere.
  19. Didn't know you were still playing...not bad for a octogenerian.

  21. My daughter texted me overnight (she's currently in Melbourne) asking if I was feeling confident, I replied that I have Samaritans on speed dial.
  22. I'd agree we played well for the first 35 mins. And even at the beginning of the 2nd half looked like we were going to continue the same pattern...then Nisbet misses a simple chance - he could easily have taken another touch and lashed it into either side of the keeper - and suddenly instead of being 2 up within 10 mins we were 1 down. Why are we so poor in the 2nd half - not just today but for many games this season (last 3 games conceded 9 goals in the 2nd half, that's 9 goals in a game and a half) why do we seem to run out of puff after h-t? Also, why take off Nisbet? Even if he's running of gas, has had one leg amputated and is in a self induced coma he's still more likely to get a goal than Ambrose.
  23. DU fans being on the pitch doesn't excuse our fans from ripping out a seat and throwing it onto the pitch. Had it hit a DU fan it would have been just as reprehensible and utterly stupid.
