I totally hear you on the last point. I honestly dont have an issue blowing up Venezuelan drug boats and overthrowing a drug cartel. Thats less drugs here, and less drugs going to the UK. Think that benefits us all. I also think itās not so much about US access to oil or minerals, but preventing them going to Russia and china. I thinks itās just as much if not more that than simply the US wanting more. Squeezing them has its concerns. Greenland is directly between Russia and the US. US has military interests there that not only protect against missile detection/interception, but also protects Europe. a defensive move in my opinion to protect more than just the US. Im not 100% certain but I read that with the arctic melting you could see about 40% of world trade using the waters around Greenland. Russia has significantly increased shipping and military in those areas and US is trying to prevent being limitled/cut off and improve access for the US and allies. Just what I read!

Iām not taking this as an attack, just commenting that thereās more to tariffs in play in my opinion. Iām simply pointing out that while the tariffs affect the cost of goods, there are other factors that mean the economy here is changing. Itās not simply that it becomes more expensive because of tariffs, other factors make it more affordable which means the tariff changes arenāt impacting us the way some may seem to make out. the tariffs have also resulted in jobs and industry moving back here which brings more jobs and money into our economy. weāre not in a deflationary period, but inflation was at around 9% at one point, weāre now mid 2s. Increasing costs have certainly slowed while new laws/benefits are in place that I believe more than compensate for the tariffs. i know I see things differently and I tend to avoid this thread now as Ive had personal attacks when I comment on my personal experience here, but I hear some truths, many partial truths posted, or flat out incorrect points and thatās hard to take at times. Tariffs are one that have been used to improve us economy, but they have had a very negative spin in the media, and can obviously negatively affect other countries (but thatās not what I am discussing.)

It was 2.7 in December. But you are correct, weāve been at 2.4 twice since Oct 2024 I think. I understand inflation, but if you are talking tariffs you have to look at the bigger picture. Unemployment is slightly down, wages are up. Gas prices are significant down. People have more money. Youāre seeing business and investment coming into the US. It doesnāt change over night, but youāre seeing an improving economy. I think our economy will only strengthen in the next few years as a result of the influx of new investment and business interests from trumps changes, including the tariffs. While inflation increases prices, there is more money in the hands of the consumer. Add in there the big beautiful bill and tax changes, i was able to deduct up to 10k in property taxes, mortgage interest, that has been increased to 40k i believe. Thatās a big deal to me and now Iām deducting 20-30k. Throw in the waste fraud and abuse and the funds recovered from that, I believe Iāll be receiving somewhere between $4000-$8000 this year in tariff stimulus/dividend checks. Pretty sure theyāll come out mid late summer prior to the mid terms, obviously strategic. General costs of many everyday good are down, but what is mainly hurting the economy is housing prices and mortgage rates. Rates are coming down but not nearly where they were pre COVID. thereās a lot of positives helping people have more money. Whatās interesting here in Florida this year and voting in November, is that you may well see property taxes significantly reduced or even eliminated for permanent Florida residents, saving someone like me approx $8000 annually. said it may times here before, not sure what news you hear back home from here, but there are good things going on helping people right now.

Letās hope weāre not the next āfavoriteā out. Win tomorrow and itās been a nice weekend!
-
Seriously! Hampden is Hampden.
-
Barclays hampden??
-
I donāt buy that argument. The trillions brought in on foreign trade more than cover that, plus weāre most likely getting a tax refund later this year. inflation in December was at 2.7%, the lowest since 2020 pre COVID.

Thatās the frustrating part about our league (yes, this was the cup and lower league today). Add 3-4 good players to our squad and a decent coach, anyone beats anyone. Top 3-4 easily within reach.
-
Could we afford him? Fee and wages? Our best left back in a while. And heās only 28. I get this āplayer trading modelā but brings experience, knowledge of the league, and maybe leadership?? this iād get, Cameron I donāt.
-
I also want to add we assume the club is stupid or made a mistake. Itās how most of us feel. Perhaps there is a buy agreement, whether in writing or a gentlemenās handshake. Lutz has relationships with rohl and someone else on staff, perhaps thereās more to it? what equally confuses me is that he plays a position we donāt need. He may be better than Armstrong Clarkson polvara Shinnie Marshall or any central mid, but more questions than answers as there are certainly other priorities.
-
I hope he doesnāt. Itās a really bizarre signing if thereās no buy option, but the lad is just coming to play football and we all want the dons to succeed. As mentioned, really poor optics, would love an explanation if thereās no buy option. Now, if we sign welsh for 6 months with no buy option then weāve lost the plot. perhaps better options are available when we have a manager, or in the summer, but uncomfortable times at present.
-
Are we certain there is no option to buy?
-
Haha. Guess my post was cold! None of the players āleavingā although am I wrong in the typo??
-
This is progress. Players moving on. Worst case, like Vinny, itās another loan, but itās some money off the books. We need to move players on from our badly bloated squad. i know there is frustration with the lack of players coming in, but I he we have to create some space/funds too. none of the players living are good enough, regardless of poor quality we have in our first 11. Cameron is an odd one, we have Clarkson Armstrong and Marshall all playing that position. Not really what we need. Certainly not a lot without the option. Would prefer Marshall got an opportunity to be honest.

Seen very few of the marvel movies, just not into comic book crap. Saying that, I did like the first iron man with Robert Downey jnr, but watched little to none of the others. Never got into Batman Spider-Man and the likes, watched very few of those, but I did watch and like the Christian Bale Batman films. A little darker, not so cheesy. Be curious to see if my opinion changes as my kids grow up and I may see some of these with them. since I mentioned Downey jnr, I did like tropic thunder. Like the tom cruise character. Having lived in LA an dealt with some Hollywood folks, quite a normal person!

I think if welsh went to Motherwell he was wanting to get regular playing time. Going back to Celtic as injury cover until they are healthy or sign someone better may not be his ideal, time will tell!
-
I highly doubt welsh is being recalled to play for Celtic. Theyāve had him for years and know exactly what he is. Makes no sense for a temp manager to recall and play him.
-
He was far from perfect, but I thought gyamfi had one of his better games.
-
We were on a good run but that key six game stretch, one point.
-
Maybe shinnie, but other than that zero leadership out there. We look lost.
-
We have absolutely no clue what to do in the final third. wtf do we doing training.
-
Iād argue they targeted milanovic. Now bilalovic. Devlin gets an over load cos milanovic canāt defend.
-
Itās such a difficult game with no width. Couple of devlin runs but other than that, weāre so easy to play against. Hard to stretch a team and create when itās inside and central most of the time.
-
Another wank game. Change thinks asap please. New manager needed a structure/guidance. Depressing stuff.
-
Karlsson off, please remove milanovic too, neither wide man has contributed, and they are guts to creating. Bilalovic asap!
