3. Or maybe its as simple as this is as good as it gets,ie the limits of McInnes abilities as a Manager.Decent finishes in the league and cups, decent wheeling and dealing in transfers and loans, but not so hot,or knowledgeable enough in youth development. There have been times, even the last few years, where with the temperament of some players in the team,eg Reynolds,McGinn,MacLean,Consi? its sometimes felt(to me)we havnt been too far away from a loss of confidence, and McInnes hasnt been confident enough to play youngsters.Maybe thats too sympathetic? Another thing could be the standard of recent signings has been rising out of synch with the youngsters we are recruiting It has been frustrating not seeing more youngsters getting thrown on during a meaningless game,or meaningless spell in a game though,if only for us to judge that they are in fact shite after all,but there does seem to be a national dearth of talent at the moment, whether thats cyclacle, too many distractions for youngsters these days,or just softer, less confident kids than a generation ago? But you have to keep the thing going in the chance the next manager is a youth development genius
4. Working along the North Deeside rd yesterday,so thought I'd have a pre work, dawn wander up Hill of Fare.Have never thought previously of walking up this one, looks a bit dour, and so it proved as I made my way up. Took the B9125 just after at Garlogie, and turned right at the McIntosh of Echt depot onto the B977 road to Echt.Parked at the second layby on the lhs where there is an agricultural gate leading into the woods. From there it was just a case of following the track to the first summit/mast IMG_2153 by , on Flickr Half an hour,I was on the summit.Pleasant surprise to see a film of mist below, and the sun about to rise directly above Aberdeen IMG_2195 by , on Flickr IMG_2175 by , on Flickr IMG_2182 by , on Flickr IMG_2216 by , on Flickr The walk itself wont stick in the memory, but worth a sunrise wander for all the time, and with sunrise getting later.Should point out that the true summit is a fair bit further on to the West...
5. Shinnie prefers playing in midfield apparently. If there arent any L/B in our range,a defender with authority (pref left sided)would settle the team a bit IMO. Shinnie could help out Consi at L/B a bit more could he nae,if Andy continues playing there Edit - Good business re Stockley, but I think we can/should forget about Moult for now,....unless we get a fee for Rooney.....
6. Have never been to modern Tynecastle(last time SC '85?),....but this sounds like a laugh, Furryboots - Nae sure Pre - Train Post - Train Prediction - 44'000 reds, 5 - 0 Dons (Wright x4,Arnason thunderbolt) #Redfield
7. Bit rough round the edges, but these guys are improving all the time - Lake St Dive
8. KFP beat me to it. Not going to judge what happened,or speculate on the reasons for it,but dont understand why he was in the water for 90 minutes. If he wasnt pished ,why could he not swim to a side, and would he not have drowned if he was totally blootered....
9. I agree what youre saying, though I dont think Andy will need Hayes so much at CB.Willing to see how they get on,though i dont think theres enough of a presence,or air of confidence with those 2 but we'll see.A fit Arnie and Oconnor sounds more appealing. Also prefer Shinnie in midfield, but giving Tansey more responsibility might bring him on.Like what Ive seen of Tansey.Might have to endure a few weeks of awkward performances til we get the right combos
10. Only saw the highlights, but fair play to McInnes for ringing some unexpected changes.Good to see Wright get a start, and justify his inclusion, hopefully starts regularly if GMS or Stewart dont pull their finger out. Interested to see how the new defensive formation works out.Going by yesterday,it'll take a while to settle in,Shinnies a bit rusty, and Considine slowly grows into roles. In the process, looks like we might concede a few,but if were scoring a few more....
11. Some cracking replies there tbf
12. Oot Pre - hedge trimming Post - Barbie up north Prediction - Either get humped or run riot. Will unconfidently say the latter. 5 - 1 (May x2, Christie x3)
13. I know folk on Facebook who's whole photo album is of them selves . My brothers partner(50 y/o) still pouts for photos.Subtly, but she thinks we dont notice - silly cow
14. What often happened with Hayes was he was given the ball and left to do his thing. There were times on Saturday when GMS got the ball and there were 2 guys on him and his team mates left him to it.We're going to have to adjust to how other guys play(ie not assume, youre a winger,do something amazing). The other guys needed to be more alert to him being in trouble, and offered him an outlet.
15. Pittodrie half empty is pretty embarassing too, though you probably mean going to the bother of having a new stadium built, for it only to be half full. Personally I would go for around 18'000 capacity so's it was rarely under half capacity, and to create demand for tickets
16. Oooft,a wee chink in the armour there......
17. A fine time of year to be on the hills with the light waft of heather in bloom.Did these 2 on Saturday before the game, and made it a sunrise walk since I was up early anyway.Quite a few of the East Aberdeenshire hills have unobstructed views East and West, giving the option of a sunrise or sunset trip to enhance sometimes dour hills. But these 2,Lord Arthurs hill, and Coilliochbar hill were fine hills, with the bonus of being hame and showered in time for an afternoon nap at Pittodrie Lord Arhturs hill - 518m Headed for Tullynessie, past Bridge of Alford, and took a turn off West,to Dubston farm and parked at the end of the track. Walked past the buildings below,to the 3 or 4 deciduous trees just beyond, where the track splits in 2 IMG_2006 by , on Flickr Route was via Fouchie shank - Lord Arthurs hill - Manabattock hill - return via deciduous trees to Dubston. Split in the grassy track at the deciduous trees below.Ahead for Fouchie shank, left, where you return via Manabattock hill IMG_2073 by , on Flickr Nice glen further on,good firm track/path underfoot IMG_2017 by , on Flickr Track continues, less firm, on beyond Lord Arthurs summit to Manabattock IMG_2050 by , on Flickr From Manabattock its a 15 min pathless descent through a field and woods, back to the deciduous trees and Dubston Nice hill,1.5 hrs up/same down Coilliochbar hill - 532m Drove from there onto the road between Bridge of Alford and Lumsden, and took the turn off for Ardhuncart, parking just ahead at the steadings at Brux, where the old bridge crosses the Don. IMG_2081 by , on Flickr Crossed over the bridge and came to a split in the track, and took option to the right, through the buildings and along the edge of the Don.It appeared the track was going past where the summit area was,but eventually(canna mind,a good 1/2 an hour) came to a split where going left took you uphill Fairly steep at times IMG_2105 (2) by , on Flickr Before easing off a bit further up,good going underfoot IMG_2097 by , on Flickr IMG_2099 by , on Flickr This one had a bit more going for it.More variety en route, nice glimpses if the Don on return IMG_2113 by , on Flickr 1.25 hrs up,1 hr down. Was taking a short cut,but hit a hasty retreat when I saw this IMG_2107 by , on Flickr
18. Yes decent pedigree,in the last 4 for player of the year 2 years running, and into double figures(goals) in his last couple of seasons in a poor Dee side.Quite chunky though, and doesnt look or play like a traditional winger.Get the impression he could do a job up front if May was injured and Roonard were still firing blacks.a 2 with May maybe asking too much
19. I think Reynolds played l/b a while during Craig Browns time.Dont think it worked and I think we'd miss shinnies drive in midfield. We've added a lot of attack minded players, which may be contributing to a lack of defence protection?and while they work out who does what up front,we may have to endure a few skittery performances like Saturday. If we get the right combination up front it should take the pressure off defence a bit(assuming theres no more signings to come).Dundee only came into that game because we were so disjointed
20. Deep purple - Black Night
21. Dunno,but i'll hae a look for you http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b091kw6y/scottish-premiership-201718-aberdeen-v-dundee
22. A pretty forgettable game apart from Stevie May.Never managed to get going in the forward areas.Going to take a while to work out who works best with who etc,but nobody seemed to be on their game.....but 3 points again. Dundee offered nothing early on til we gave them encouragement, and showed that they could probably cause a few teams problems, starting soon hopefully. The good news is,Stevie May looks like he's still got it O'Connor did well, the rest can do better Crowd 15'646. Surprised by that,me and my fellow Main Stand curmudgeon both thought around 13 - 13'500.Maybe tickets were bought but not attended.Very good if correct though.
23. Pouting for selfies When's that shite going to stop. Are they so thick they think we dont know?....
24. Looks over 14k on the ticket thing if I read it right. Just back from Donside hills, and Peterculter to Milltimber is closed, along with Drumoak bridge.Had to divert via Crathes bridge
25. Actually youre right he also played for Buckie and Huntly http://www.liverpoolfc.com/history/past-players/john-ogston C1596 1961-09-00 John 'Tubby' Ogston, Aberdeen Goalkeeper © DCT by , on Flickr
