All joking aside, there's an argument that a game tonight might've been beneficial for our new signings before the much more important cup tie on Saturday. So now I guess we're genuinely hoping that one's off as well.

We've even reached the stage where the social media admin person is needing sacked according to some because the club apparently haven't released enough info on what specifically is wrong with Knoester. Social media is superb as long as you don't take it too seriously.

Our team has been guff all season so I’d be very surprised if playing our new signings makes us much worse. They might play below what their eventual standard will be until they get up to speed but we’ve not exactly lost Pele, Maradona and Willie Miller so I don’t expect too much of a drop off.

And, if it's Tom McIntyre we're going for, at least he's an experienced defender who won't be taken by surprise by the physical nature of the Scottish game.

It's all moot anyway but we wouldn't have had to pay £1.5m for Aouchiche, we could easily have said to Sunderland "nah, not paying that but we'll give you zero pounds instead" and got him that way. A decent player but we seem to have been clearing out the old loans to get the new ones in so on that basis it's no surprise he's away. On paper, a midfield of Aremu, Geiger and Cameron should be an upgrade on what we had before but I'm not sure a better midfield helps our inability to defend set pieces... maybe we're planning on 100% possession every week so that the other team can't even get a corner.

Olusanya's record doesn't exactly scream "prolific" but if we feel we're lacking in grafters who will run all day and generally be a nuisance then he should at least bring that? Kinda in line with Pfannensteil's comments about having a squad of good footballers who don't fit together to make a team. That's the optimistic Friday morning viewpoint anyway.

The big question mark over McGlynn is how he'd fit into the sporting director structure we've got now. Strikes me as the kind of old school manager who thrives when wheeling, dealing and bringing in players he finds. That's not how we're supposed to be working.
