Does anyone here follow Serie A? Might not have the stars of the 90s but for me it's still the most exciting of the top leagues.

Napoli running away with the title this year and might be the first Italian team for a while to have a real chance in the Champions League, but the battle for the top four is a cracker.

Hoping Jose manages to get Roma into the Champions League, would be a game changer for them. They deserved at least a draw against Napoli on Sunday.

Think it’s a buyout clause rather than a valuation so €25m is as much as teams need to offer.

That was my thought as well though I don't think I've ever seen it confirmed.

Not that far really. I'd imagine it's a bus or train from Lecce across to the west coast and then a ferry from there.

I'm currently learning Italian, so watching the BBC Alba coverage is counter productive as usually I try to watch on Italian TV.

Anyway, bit biased, but thought Kieron Bowie and Josh Doig both played well for Sassuolo. They deserved more v Atalanta.

Next BBC game (which will have English commentary - not actually sure who is doing it tbh) is - unless plans have changed - next Monday; Atalanta again, this time v Lewis Ferguson and Bologna.

I would like to learn Italian too, how are you getting on? Are you using dualingo?

I tried Pimsluer but couldn’t commit to the time- you can listen in the car on commute but found didn’t take it in

I'm on Duolingo which is good to make sure I practice daily.

I was doing lessons - was an online class over zoom with a place called Lingo Flamingo, which is based in Glasgow; 10 week block, 90 minute lessons, £140 for the block. You can pick what level of class to do, at beginner level was usually only 4-6 of us in the class and a variety of ages (youngest was 20, the oldest was 74 and was learning her fourth language), and when you move up it gets busier but I think the max class size they do is 10 or 12.

First teacher was pretty good - broke it down into 45 minutes of full on teaching, five min break, then kept the rest of the class lighthearted. But he left and the second teacher I found a bit boring, droned on for the full 90 mins and I lost motivation for it, so haven't signed up again. But then my concentration levels just don't last that long, especially if I'm doing it in the evening after being at work all day. If you're keen though to give it a try, it might be worth signing up for the next semester and seeing if it's for you.

I'm actually on the last episode of "The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox" which is mostly in Italian, and I'm impressed with how much of it I'm understanding (don't understand full sentences, but words and expressions).

Other than that, I follow loads of Italians on TikTok to try and immerse myself.

Edit: There's also the coffee break Italian podcast which is also based in Glasgow so is kinda nice to hear Scottish accents speaking Italian, but I've never managed to finish the first series. I only ever listen to podcasts in the car, and after 10 minutes I need to put the music on 🤣

Bologna losing 1-2 to Sassuolo. Sassuolo have been better team and deserving their lead. Ferguson trying to drag Bologna over the line on his own. Bowie having to play injured as Sassuolo have used all their subs.

Proving I know fuck all Bologna equalise.

ETA - Finished 2-2 that was Bologna’s first point of season.

Decent enough watch for from what I saw
