On the bright side, he'll probably bring a lot of good backroom staff with him. We're really struggling in the goalkeeping department, especially when coming for crosses. They're bound to have someone who can help on that front.

If you say it three times he appears. Which might be a good thing.

Anyway, Robinson is a good manager, with a good record in our league. He's a fucking terrible appointment for us though.

Goodwin, I could understand, in that there might have been a case that he was still in his early years of management and could be pliable to the extent that he could change his style of play and work within the parameters of "the strategy". Robinson blows any attempts to pretend that there is a strategy out of the water. He's more McInnes than McInnes, and those of us who were arguing for years that we were correct to get rid of McInnes have now been proven entirely incorrect.

Anyway, something for the fans to get excited about.

I have fond memories of Alex Miller.

That break dance he did in the box prior to Strachan’s goal in the 4-1 cup final win vs the dead club was an absolute thing of beauty…

A bit of a comedown from the ex Saint Etienne and New York Bulls managers.

Would he want to move knowing he has the chance of a cup double staying with St Mirren?

Maybe Cormack is had enough and the club is reverting back, financially speaking,  to the toasterless years.

I'll give him a chance is it improves our fortunes, if he comes, even if only in the short term.

There IS something to the Robinson links. Again, I don't know if the boy tweeting it is right that he's now the front runner, but he is on the club's radar and has fans in the Dons boardroom.

And to be fair to the guy who tweeted about Robinson today, he broke the Olusanya story hours before it, which other media are now reporting. (although, granted, he hasn't signed yet, but it appears he's been first to an exclusive there).

McGlynn sounds more like a guess, and I say that because the site posting it (footy insiders) has form for being way off the mark with things. But as is often the case when there's a vacancy, it's about timing, and McGlynn is very much the in-form manager just now, so I'd be surprised if he wasn't in the conversation.

Panda called it back on the 20th January.

“Has fans in the Dons boardroom”

I’ll bet any money that’s Milne. An ill advised, totally inappropriate appointment like this has got his greasy paw prints all over it.

This’ll end well…

Good news for our summer transfer window is that St Mirren have a glut of players out of contract:

Bad news is that it means we'll need to pay a transfer fee for Alex Gogic and Jayden Richardson.

Mandron & O’Hara stick on signings I’d say.

O’Hara has something about him at least.

No CH’s listed - typical.

To be fair, Robinson has got a tune out of Phillips & Richardson which we certainly never managed to do, so there is that. Not saying sign them before anyone starts, just that he’s improved them (low bar granted).

Still hud me back time though…

Burrows and Robinson are best of buddies. No pun intended. They were together for years at Motherwell.

Lutz has to walk now. If he goes full Teutonic he might even challenge Cormack to a duel at dawn because he's fair been made a c*nt of by the yank twat.

PS. I'm still formulating a full reaction to the breaking news.

O'Hara would have been an excellent signing two years ago, but he's very much on the way down. I thought Philips was a decent enough player to have in the squad. Not a great footballer, but athletic and strong, and a good option off the bench to try and disrupt and get in folks faces when trying to play fitba has failed. Similarly, Richardson had all the attributes to be a serviceable SPFL fullback, sticking to a few limited instructions.

Phillips is suited to St Mirren, I’ll give you that.

Richardson’s attributes are pace, athleticism & a decent engine. Probably enough to get by up here indeed.

A 5 year old lassie has better positional sense and a better fitba brain though.

That time he headed a ball that was drifting out for a goal kick, right back into our 6 yard box straight to Arfield for a last minute Sevco winner was a particular highlight for me.

Just not a footballer…

Yep, neither are good footballers, but we've had much worse footballers than both in the past that have been good when well managed. Steve Clarke was excellent at keeping instructions simple for players when he was at Killie. It would be very easy for a team to play to both Richardson's and Philips' strengths without having to worry about their weaknesses too much. Richardson was very, very clearly nervy as fuck with us, the fitba was a hot tattie. But instead of playing to his strengths, we asked him to try and play the ball out and take it under pressure and played him alongside a weak defence. We could easily have eased him into first team football, asking him just to chip it down the line, run fast to the byline and kick it sideways, on repeat until he built some form of confidence. Exactly what Thelin did with Morris for example. Phillips could have been told to do the high press and win headers and second balls, and be relentless, with five yard passes only. I'd say he is a better option than an at least four of our midfielders this season.

Edit: I'm absolutely not saying that we should sign either of them! Just that we could have made the best out of them whilst they were here.

This beggars belief.  St M are in the cup semi-final and in a relegation fight but are willing to let their manager go.  Robinson has the chance to be a double cupwinning manager in the same season but might prefer to leave for a Club which could be in the Championship next season.  I guess he's hoping for a 3-year deal and a bumper pay-off next Xmas.  And, as many have alluded, to his teams play eye-bleeding fitba.

Not my choice but it's the process that boils my piss.

We are taking our time to get the right man, Lutz had contacts in every continent. Oh look at this guy who managed in France. Let's invite and promote the name of the ex red bulls manager. Lose in the Scottish cup, Leven says we are in danger of going down and looks a beaten man. Lets panic and just get the guy from Saint Mirren, He won a cup with Saint Mirren, but lets ignore his current run is as bad as our own. Totally Clueless all round.

Well that's quite underwhelming. We are seeking to appoint a manger whose team is below us when we have been completely rubbish this year, so that's a bit of a worry.

On the positive front he's not averse to playing two forwards and doesn't seem wedded to passing pointlessly about at the back. Would hope we also ditch the goalie passing it  out  to the centrehalves for them to fuck it up as well. Oh well can't say I'm enthused but if he gets the gig then I'll support him as he's the manager of the Dons. Can I just say I dislike Marcus Fraser, a diving cheating cnut so hope he doesn't sign him and hope that he doesn't try and keep Olasanya as he only scores against us.
