  Really different direction again for them, and on first listen I was a bit miffed but after another couple of listens it's certainly growing on me.  "Your Pure Soul" is one of the most beautiful songs they've ever done.

Haven't got this yet, what sort of direction is it?

Not like anything they've ever done, there is a kind of 70's feel to some of it.  The vocals are a bit more prominent than other Charlies albums and sometimes I felt Burgess's voice was struggling but he just about pulls it off. Some good shuddering bass in some of it.

There are a couple of songs which change direction a few times in themselves and it took a couple of listens to get comfortable with them and I really enjoy them now. It's definitely a grower and will take a few listens to really appreciate it.

The song "oh!" is possibly the strangest album track they've done, but even that is growing on me now.

It certainly is, some of it definitely has a 70s vibe to it.

After some considered reflection, I've decided that the Freebass and Charlatans albums aren't particularly good IMHO.  Both have done the opposite of grow on me.

Just heard a guy called Benn Jordan, who records as 'The Flashbulb', for the first time recently.

Cracking stuff if your a fan of DJ Shadow, Aphex twin etc...
