blinlemon Posted Tuesday at 21:30 Report Posted Tuesday at 21:30 The Masons beat Ayr 2-1 to go into the final of the Challenge Cup. For some mysterious reason, I can’t recall us ever taking part. How very singular. Quote
Bukta Bertie Posted Tuesday at 21:35 Report Posted Tuesday at 21:35 Is that the one when you get to play teams from Ireland and Wales? Quote

Bukta Bertie Posted Tuesday at 22:42 Report Posted Tuesday at 22:42 Shame. That would have been great to be involved in. Quote

Bukta Bertie Posted Tuesday at 23:42 Report Posted Tuesday at 23:42 Aberdeen will never be out of the top flight so that's that. Quote

Bukta Bertie Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago Yes. The Diamonds. Yet again hardly any home fans and next to no noise from them. I remember trips to Broomfield were normally rowdy affairs. I guess their hardcore support must have deserted after the rebirth and move away from the town. Shame that. Quote
Bukta Bertie Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago Been knobbled. Watching some fat ginger bloke making falafels now. Over and out. Quote
Jute Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago Asencio with nasty looking injury in Real Madrid game. Been stretchered off with neck brace on. Quote

Jute Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Only just noticed that Juventus are also down to 10. Into extra time now. Quote

Bukta Bertie Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Am I right to think Spurs will play the winners of Athletic Madrid against Galatasaray? Quote

Arsenal/Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen/Atalanta Chelsea/Barcelona vs Newcastle/PSG Liverpool/Tottenham vs Atletico Madrid/Galatasaray Man City/Sporting vs Real Madrid/Bodo Glimt Quote
Bukta Bertie Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago So Spurs have to beat Liverpool first? I hadn't realised that part of the equation. UEFA really have cocked up with these new formats. I hate it. I accept it's the boomer in me and yes I realise the new formats are all about maximising the number of matches played for the purpose of TV revenue but I do wish we could go back to the simpler format of the 70s / 80s. European Cup with only the holder and actual domestic champions entered in the trophy. UEFA Cup as a two legged knock out tournament with a home and away final. ECWC with domestic cup winners and a one off final played at a neutral venue. European Super Cup played at a neutral venue. Jesus I hate what they're doing to football and there is no sign the madness is going tho stop with new innovations being introduced all the time. With none of them being an improvement on what we had before. Quote

Agree that the old format was better and made European nights special. Knock out games are only bits of European competitions that are worth watching now. Sadly not going to go back to the old format as you say. 1 Quote
