Someone should be getting their fucking ears warmed for this. But nothing will be done.

Motherwell and Killie are serial offenders here and yet they really have very little in the way of consequences for acting the cunt.

Global warming, weather forecasts (long range??? wtf?), some cunt left the fridge door open? Utter fucking cunts.

Killie should have the book thrown at them for this. I can understand if the weather has resulted in making roads to the stadium hazardous to travel on, as that's outwith the control of the football club.

But every SPL club has undersoil heating. The fact that a few neighbours complain about the noise whenever it's used should perhaps say to Killie FC that they need to invest in a different form of power for the undersoil heating, as clearly a petrol/diesel generator is not working for them.

It's all very well to claim "yes we have undersoil heating", but if you're too afraid to use it, you might as well not have it. Same goes for Motherwell. These two clubs should be fined for not utilising the systems that have been a prerequisite of the SPL to ensure matches have the strongest possibility of NOT being postponed. Killie should be fined, with the fees heading towards Pittodrie.

Sunday Herald:

lubs face SPL rap over postponements

By Stewart Fisher and Barry Johnston

KILMARNOCK AND Motherwell could face SPL sanctions after their proposed matches against Aberdeen and Hearts respectively were postponed due to frozen pitches.

League officials are poised to launch an "urgent and serious inquiry" into the postponements and both clubs could face sanctions or fines if they are deemed to have breached rules which insist upon member clubs having "adequate pitch protection".

The Rugby Park surface failed a 10am inspection by referee Eddie Smith yesterday, not early enough to prevent many Aberdeen fans from commencing their journey to Ayrshire.

Kilmarnock had previously been banned from switching on their undersoil heating generators between the hours of 10pm and 8am due to the close proximity to neighbouring houses. However, an East Ayrshire Council spokesperson last night confirmed those restrictions were lifted in 2004 - leaving SPL representatives searching for answers as to why the Rugby Park pitch was unplayable.

But Sandy Clark, the Aberdeen coach, last night insisted the blame lay firmly with Kilmarnock. "The fact is, somebody, somewhere, has got it wrong," Clark said. "They've got a different type of heating system to the one we have at Aberdeen. It's not the heaviest frost in the world and there's no snow or anything like that. But when you looked at the state of the park, there was absolutely no chance of the game going ahead."

Dave McDermid, Aberdeen's official spokesman, revealed the club had been rebuffed in their attempts to get earlier pitch inspections.

"At this stage, we don't know the facts," he said. "But what we do know is that a number of our travelling supporters have been left massively inconvenienced and out of pocket. We asked that the pitch inspection be conducted on Friday night or, failing that, at 7.30am on Saturday morning as we have supporters travelling from further north than Aberdeen. But neither request was granted."

Kilmarnock refused to comment as to whether their undersoil heating system was at fault, but chairman Michael Johnston did issue an apology to travelling supporters. "Kilmarnock FC regrets that Aberdeen FC and the supporters of both clubs have been inconvenienced by the cancellation of today's match," he said.

Seems pretty obvious what has happened here.

Fuel bills are rocketing for everyone at the moment so you can bet that diddy clubs like Killie and Motherwell who can barely muster up 5,000 fans a week are going to avoid turning on the heating as often as possible. So when there is a minor drop in temperature they will have taken a risk and not bothered with the heating or at best turned it on low power to save £. Pity they have given no consideration for the fans who have spent money they can ill afford.

What a shambles.

Kilmarnock FC regrets that Aberdeen FC and the supporters of both clubs have been inconvenienced by the cancellation of today's match

WTF? How the hell have any Killie fans been inconvenienced? Their only fan leaves his house five minutes before kickoff. Aberdeen fans from north of the Granite City face upwards of four hours travel time to get to Kilmarnock. And it ain't exactly cheap to drive for four hours these days ... nor is the Aberdeen to Glasgow to Kilmarnock train journey very cheap (or very quick) these days either!

Didn't realise Killie fans were restricted to only living in Ayr ::)

Miller gets behind SPL probe into Killie farce

By Michael Gannon

Published: 08/12/2008

Aberdeen director of football Willie Miller has hit out at the treatment of Dons supporters after the late postponement of the match at Kilmarnock on Saturday.

Miller also gave his backing to the tough stance being adopted by the SPL after the league announced an investigation into the late call-off at Rugby Park and also the match between Motherwell and Hearts at Fir Park.

The Dons game was shelved at 10am after problems with the Killie undersoil heating left the pitch frozen and Miller has warned not to take one of the SPL's biggest travelling supports for granted.

He said: “It was a hugely disappointing weekend for the supporters. We have the biggest travelling support outside of the Old Firm and we want to make sure they are treated properly.

“The 10am inspection was always going to be cutting it fine and all we would ask is that clubs take our supporters into consideration.

“It is our supporters we feel for most. They are the ones who have been put out the most and the ones who deserve to be treated better.

“If there is any doubt surrounding the game, we want to know as soon as possible. Kilmarnock said the earliest they could do it was 10am, but that is not great for our supporters, many of who were already well on their way by that point.â€

It is still unclear why the Rugby Park heating system failed to operate properly.

There have been suggestions there was a fault or that the heating was either not turned on or not at a sufficient level to deal with the frost.

Miller said: “There is a pre-requisite in the SPL to have undersoil heating, so this really should not be happening. If there has been a mechanical breakdown then we can say fair enough.

“If there is something else, for instance if it has not been turned on or not been at a high enough level, then questions have to be asked and the SPL must act accordingly.

“Every club knows the criteria set out by the SPL and you have to factor it into your funding for the season. No one knows that more than us.

“We will wait and see what the findings are before taking the matter further. I am sure Kilmarnock are just as disappointed.

“They will lose out financially also because I would not expect us to take as many supporters there in midweek as we would have done at the weekend.â€

Fans in claim for wasted Killie trip

Fans paid £640 for bus

By Charlie Allan

A GROUP of Dons fans today demanded Kilmarnock FC compensate them for the cost of their wasted return trip to Ayrshire.

Aberdeen’s SPL clash was called off just after 10am on Saturday due to a frozen pitch.

The SPL are investigating why the Rugby Park undersoil heating system – part of the criteria for members of the league – failed to save the game from being called off.

Members of the Aberdeen-based Northern Lights AFC Supporters’ Club had already begun their bus journey south by the time the pitch was inspected. They were in Glasgow when the news came through.

Club chairman Neil McDougall wants Killie to cough up the £640 it cost them for what he described as a “wasted journeyâ€.

“We are furious at the way we have been treated,†said McDougall.

“There is a financial crisis, and we are coming up to Christmas, so fans can’t afford to throw money away like this.

“Kilmarnock should be made to pay that because there is no way SPL games should be called off because of a frozen pitch nowadays.

“We are also upset that they waited until 10am to inspect the pitch.

“Our bus left Aberdeen at 7.30am because we always make allowances for fans needing time to go somewhere for lunch.â€

Dons managing director Duncan Fraser expressed sympathy for the Northern Lights members and all of their supporters who were left frustrated and out of pocket.

Fraser promised Aberdeen will do all they can to ensure they get some form of compensation, even if it means having to pay it themselves.

“We are also looking at ways of helping fans who plan to go to Kilmarnock when the game is rearranged,†he said.

The game is now likely to go ahead on January 14, with the Dons dismissing a suggestion from Kilmarnock to play it on Wednesday.

Fraser is pushing the SPL to hold a full inquiry this week and wants earlier inspections – preferably on a Friday night.

He said: “We want reassurances that this will be the last time Aberdeen supporters are treated in this manner.

“There were concerns on Friday, so a decision could have been made then.â€

Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnson was unavailable to comment today, but had said earlier: “We don’t know the reason for it, but the pitch was frozen.

“I have no idea what happened, but we will get to the bottom of it.â€
