League Cup semi: Rangers v Aberdeen

I'm breaking forum etiquette here, but semi-final chat should not be hidden away in a generic League Cup thread.

Last time we were at Hampden we won the cup against Celtic, so let's not fear this mob.

The last time Stephen Robinson faced Derek McInnes in a semi-final at Hampden he skelped him 3-0 (Motherwell against... doesn't matter who it was against, but the team he beat were wearing blue shirts).

The last two times Robinson has been at Hampden - and in this competition - he won 4-1 (semi) and 3-1 (final).

So aye, we're winning this. Final against Hibs (I'm calling it now, think they'll beat Hearts) on the sacred day that we celebrate Eoin Jess' birthday (and Kristers Tobers).

Dates and kick-off time are either Saturday 31st (17:15 or 17:30 kick-off usually is the slot) or Sunday 1st November (14:00 or 15:00).

  • Enough about Mayo and Happe.

  • Appropriate night to be facing the zombies.

  • I'm argue 13,000 is an outstanding effort for a semi-final, and that's before you consider the distance to travel, the lack of public transport options, the price of travel with high ticket prices lum

Hopefully that will stop any more nonsense from our supporters.

It's ace that they feel the need to remind the Killie fans that we beat them on pens in their statement.

So we have to pay for 500 tickets but cannot sell them to fans.

Hopefully it will result in more active control in stopping the wee fannies running into the pitch.

There will still have to be a division between our fans and opposition fans for safety reasons so hopefully club make the division in the middle of our section to reduce tickets going to them.

We "presume " those 500 tickets are sold so next section opens for us for our demand for tickets.

All dons fans wishing to go will get tickets as we won't meet the 17000 which can be made available.

So them , gap , Dons fans, 500 gap, rest of dons fans

Simples

They've both been told to play their next home Scottish Cup ties behind closed doors, so they aren't immune to punishment.

And this isn't about them, it's about our dopey supporters.

I doubt that'll happen, it's a largely meaningless punishment, a £15k fine for the club and there'll be 500 empty seats in-between us and the Huns that we wouldn't have been able to sell anyway. So instead of a segregation of 10 rows it'll now be 20.

ps. tickets now bought, need a repeat of 2019.

If they double the segregation that is fine but my concern is that they use the 500 to be the segregation meaning they get extra tickets.

We must ensure that the stadium is a neutral venue after all ........

We won’t have any more than 13,000 I’d say so it’s largely irrelevant.

Aye taking 500 seats off us that we were unlikely to sell anyway doesn't seem much of a punishment.

Think we have to pay for the 500 empty seats so would assume they won’t be segregation seats.

Aye, I'm fairly certain the seats won't be sold twice. That would mean we would get half the gate receipts for the re-sold tickets, which would lessen the punishment, and it would also remove any potential visibility of the punishment through empty seats. Much as the SPFL are establishment wanks that love all things Hun/Tim, they will want to send the Hun fans a bit of a message too so that this type of thing doesn't happen again.

Correct, I am assuming there’ll just be a bigger gap between us and them than there otherwise would be.

Doesn't sound awful

Based on the attitude of some folk in the BBC Ultras documentry it will make no difference.

Ignoring the 500 , how many tickers have we actually sold so far ?

Hard to say since the club have made minimal effort to sell any tickets.

Hibs have only just put their tickets on sale - they're not even on general sale until next week - yet are constantly posting about it with the tagline "everyone to Hampden" trying to drum up sales and galvanise their support. As soon as you go to the Hibs website the first thing you see is a banner and pinned article about ticket sales.

Aberdeen last posted about the tickets being on sale eight days ago, and haven't said anything on their website in 12 days (unless you count the article about being sanctioned by the SPFL), and since then have been more interested in wishing every present and past player happy birthday rather than co-ordinating any sort of campaign to sell tickets. If you go to "ticketing news" on the website, they've actually neglected to include the semi-final.

Which is fine. But the club asked for a 50/50 split, and know if they don't sell their 17,000 allocation by a certain date then unsold sections will be given to Rangers. They made a point of saying they would encourage as many supporters as possible to travel to Hampden and back the team.

For what it's worth, I couldn't give a toss when Dan Happe's birthday is.

So far we have only been able to open up to section at middle of the goal so does not look brilliant .
The birthday of Dan Happe was presumably celebrated by the heading "Happe Birthday"
sad if they did and sad if they didn't

It was. I would have cancelled my DNA if they didn't.
