Aberdeen V Kilmarnock Match Thread

No surprises that this has not been started yet.
Anyway we go again with the same old shit for a different season at home in the league to Killie on Saturday. They are every bit as poor as us which makes for a dire eye bleeding watch.

The way we are going I would take a draw from this one right fkn now just to get another point on the board.
But I canna see us taking fk all.

Love your optimism mate, and I must admit I had a degree of optimism before the start of this season as well (as I always do)
But to be honest it has all but been wiped out.
Played (fought) well for the last 5 minutes of the opening league game against the diets, but still must be considered extremely fortunate to open with a win (very fortunate)
Played ok and won comfortably at home to Dundee in the cup, but other than that we have been a like team of startled fukin rabbits auditioning for Watership fkn Down ffs

Kilmarnock are shite and their manager is a prick.

5-0 Aberdeen.

Yep as poor as we are, I think we will win. Well I certainly hope we win.

Surely we will win this one. Sure it will be nervy close game. 2-1 Aberdeen

Not confident about it but I really hope we’ve got enough to put them away. They’re shite but have an even shiter manager than us. Please make it count.

2-1 Dons. Happe and Nisbet.

If it’s less than 5, I’ll be protesting outside the main stand at full time.

This one definitely has an El Sackio feel to it. Not that I think whichever manager loses will be sacked that night but it will probably leave the loser a dead man walking. As poor as we have looked in the league games Killie have looked a lot worse and fully expect us to win this. Expect us to revert to a 4 at the back if Happe is fit with Knoester dropping out. Expect Olusanya to come back in even though he is shite. Another game not bothering with as I have basically written this season off in my head and will just be going to games that are good days out for rest of the season.

A game that Robinson simply must win in order to buy himself some time and goodwill from supporters that think he is not what this club needs or wants. For the record I think he won't win. Players are simply not good enough and like dross from the last few years be a nightmare to get rid of.

I'm just praying he proves doubters like me wrong.

Happe is a doubt for Saturday. Robinson said he only played a back five v Celtic because Knoester wasn't ready to play in a four yet (I suspect we would have played a five regardless). If Happe out, does Knoester start in a four on Saturday?

I wouldn't be against a 5-3-2 again as I don't think it's necessarily a defensive tactic if you send your wing backs forward, but it's at the loss of a midfielder and creator so I'd go with a diamond, or a 4-1-3-2, which Robinson has teased once and I wish he'd try it again.

I am, oddly, looking forward to Saturday. There were small (and I do mean small) signs in that second half on Wednesday that we were just sneaking towards a system that suits us and learning what is our strongest starting XI. Don't think Kilmarnock are any stronger than the Dundee team we beat a few weeks ago.

That looks a good set up. Leaving at 10 tomorrow so up for 1 hopefully. I agree there were small green shoots in the second half but then it's easy to play a bit better against a team who are 3 goals to the good and playing in first gear.

I think that’s the thing. Not sure we can read too much into that second half given the game was done after 14 mins. Still, I applaud your optimism, we need it!

I just think he’ll play 3 up top claiming it’ll be “attacking” when ntelo isn’t great out wide. I’d like to see him and mouloua up top together, but given Nisbet is captain it probably won’t ever happen.

Well, we go again!

😆

Not much else we can do.

Not looking forward to it.

Every season, at some point during a game, I usually get to a point, where I ask myself, what the fuck am I doing here, watching this pish again.

It usually happens around February/March time, but I had it last Sunday.

A good performace is needed today, as well as a win.

Suspect the manager who loses today will be feeling a bit more heat come 5pm.

Just please make it Neil McCann.

I’m in the ‘we’ll win this reasonably comfortably’ camp but fully acknowledge I’ve been bitten on that one many times before. Need some perspective as we’ve just come off back-to-back fixtures against two teams outspending us by millions despite their obvious flaws. We are also a completely new team trying to find its groove. None of that ignores the fact we’ve been a hard watch but Killie look a completely different prospect. They are conceding a lot of goals. Even Utd were able to stick 4 past them at Rugby Pk. Assume they will come up to sit deep and defend for their lives so we need to play the formation that unlocks that. We haven’t really had to do that yet in the league.

I'm at a wedding so might just check score at full time and enjoy the champagne ☺️

If anyone is going, then take a good look at the old place. We won't be back there for five weeks.

I’m at a wedding too

Despite my fears and potential to be another eye bleeding watch, would still rather be at Pittodrie

I'm up the road and in for this one. Go about once or twice a season and normally get excited about going regardless of how pish we are. But I am with you 100% amd am just not feeling it, even after a couple of beers and on the walk down to the Prince.

But, against my better judgement, 3-1 and a good day out.

Smith at 10, or straight 4-4-2 with Ntelo up top with nisbet?

Was wondering if it’s a 4-4-2.

Robinson is really not a fan of Devlin or Frame.

Olusanya on at halftime with the start of Palaversa redemption arc to get us a goal. Unfortunately we will be a few down by that point but a second half win to go with our second half draw must be a step in the right direction.

I actually thought there should have been a place for devlin. Every player there is naturally a central player, plus Milne Marshall briedl and palaversa can all play center mid. To have palaversa in there who we clearly don’t want is a major statement regarding devlin and frame.

Opta (via the BBC) has it as a 4-1-3-2.
