Aberdeen v Queen's Park

The League Cup continues at pace on Saturday 18th July at Pittodrie when Glasgow giants Queen's Park come up for a visit. Last time we met, we humped them 4-1 on the way to lifting the Scottish Cup. Last time we met in the League Cup was two years ago, when Topi Keskinen scored a late winner in a 1-0 win.

I fancy a close game, with us winning 2-1.

I don't think he was meant to be an attacking full-back. As I said when looking at the line-up pre-match, Robinson at St Mirren often sent one full-back forward and had the other tuck into defence while the rest moved across.

Against Linfield, Devlin started at LB, but essentially tucked in and made it a back three while Lobban went forward and basically played as a winger. Looks like we did the same today but the opposite side.

You may be right but Guinness walker rarely went forward either…!

He played quite high up, but didn't have the confidence to overlap very often. It's a concern with Molloy as the only other option assuming Gyamfi and Frame are off, as I don't think the new lad or Molloy are confident on the overlap. Hopefully it's just GW getting up to speed.

Well Guinness does tend to take a while to settle.

Ach a wins a win and all that.
Decent first half but thank fuk I actually fell asleep and missed pretty much the whole of the second half. 🥴

What happened with the chance near the end, think it was Mouloua. We were celebrating a goal in the South Stand and then the ball was on its way up the pitch.

Nae muckle to be enthused about overall yesterday. Started brightly and faded away. Thought Smith did well for his goal. That parry out from the keeper which then forced him into 2 stops dearie me that was dreadful. Decent save to prevent an equaliser at the end.

Seagulls min! What was all that about yesterday? Did anyone hear what the tannoy announcement at halftime was about seagull management??? Horrendous yesterday.

Anyway a win is a win and that's 2 from 2. On to Dumfries on Wednesday for a bigger test I think than yesterday.

There were two similar incidents, if I recall correctly. Both looked in on the broadcast as well, but replay confirmed they weren't over the line.

The seagull management announcement, was to inform us of a series of loud bangs were to go off, to scare them away.

Worked well!

I do wonder who our Official Seagull Management Partner is and I hope we didn't pay for it.

Seagulls have no fear now.

It was the same during the last game of last season. The worst piece of business the club has done in years. They've ditched the hawk and replaced with some third rate seagull scarer, which makes a noise. Similar to last season, the seagulls come out in larger numbers once it's turned on. I'm assuming it comes with "repel" and "attract" settings and they've just left it on the wrong one.

Aye, watched highlights back. It came off post. I’d completely missed the one off the underside of bar as well. Beer goggles. Mouloua is going to get chances as he gets into good positions. Needs to find his shooting boots soon though.

You’ve got to remember mouloua signed three weeks ago, mid summer. No clue when he last trained or played. Don’t think he joined us immediately and Robinson said it would take a good few weeks to get him up to speed. Much like smith and muller, harsh to expect them to be fully fit and sharp, even the guys who’ve been through the full preseason to date aren’t there yet.

Definitely not expecting that at this stage. I like him and think he’ll be good for us when he’s fit and up to speed but I’ve seen him let 5 really good chances go so just pointing out he needs a goal to get him on track
