The League Cup continues at pace on Saturday 18th July at Pittodrie when Glasgow giants Queen's Park come up for a visit. Last time we met, we humped them 4-1 on the way to lifting the Scottish Cup. Last time we met in the League Cup was two years ago, when Topi Keskinen scored a late winner in a 1-0 win.

I fancy a close game, with us winning 2-1.

Great start to the game but a struggle now. Not one of yogane’s better games, need another winger to bring on in these situations. Don’t see this as the type of game for olasanya either. Disappointing how this game has gone.

Don’t like this, same as last week, nisbet olasanya and Mouloua all on together, not good shape.

Ronan looks a good signing, Yogane less so. Although I've only seen the 3rd quarter, as I believe it is called now.

Our shape is shit with no right mid and three forwards. Poor ending and crap second half but a win.

Best thing about that was hearing Niall refer to "us" and "we". Other than that this team is going to take a lot of getting used to. Missed the first 15 minutes where I take it we looked decent because the other 75 was no better than anything last season. Early days though so fingers crossed.

Solid first half. Disappointing second. Looked fluid going forward for first 20 then eased off too much.

Thought happe did well. Lyons was solid but there was a point i was screaming at him to have a go.

We became a bit predictable trying to get it to yogane after a while which is concerning.

2 slight gripes, nisbet did very little against a lower league side and milne had still to convince me that the juice is worth the squeeze.

Good first half, not so good second half.

Not overly worried, but reckon we are in for a topsy turvy season. Have my doubts about a few of them already, which isn't good.

Our goalie kit is sore in the eyes.

Good to see Lyons has inherited Jensen's gung-ho, devil may care spirit of adventure.

Interesting game, learned a few things, hope Robinson did too. Glorified preseason, so certainly a good practice game.

Mayo is a decent right back but not an attacking right back. Devlin and lobban offer a lot more going forward. Milne is awful in the air, could be a tank but chooses not to be. Smith was average today and when he went off we had nothing on the attacking side on the right. Poor shape when olusanya came on which hurt us, another winger has to be signed.

Think lyons breidl and Roman are all good signings. The latter two are also pretty tidy with set pieces. Aremu seems fit and effective too, way better in center mid today.

Thought yogane was off it today, but got to remember he’s young. Little chemistry with him and Guinness walker yet, although I think the left back is decent. Didnt really give bilalovic enough time to do anything, should have come on for yogane earlier. Molloy is not a good player.

Have yet to see nisbet and Mouloua playing well together, would rather see it one or the other and Marshall given a run at 10. Think nisbet should have been subbed, didn’t do much today.

Not a great performance and not a lot created for all the possession we had. But it’s early.

Wins a win and all that - but…

Started really well, two early goals and a lovely finish from Smith, then took the foot off the gas and cruised the rest of the first half. Don’t think they got in our box once.

That second half though, Jesus wept. Every bit as bad as last year. Two great saves fae the keeper won that for us - the triple save was particularly good - and that’s just embarrassing.

Please, for the love of god can that be the end of the Jack Milne experiment. How much fuckin evidence do you need AFC.

I didn’t get good vibes from the goalie, maybe just because he looked a bit “unconventional”. The triple save was a parry into a dangerous area followed by 2 shots directly at him. The “world class” save at the end was pretty close to him too and didn’t really need to dive to get to it. Maybe a bit unfair reading that back.

Aye, that wasn't great, but it's basically pre season with a whole new team, so difficult to say. We looked really unfit. That's not necessarily unexpected, if we're not fully through the preseason schedule to get us up to full fitness. I suspect games like these are an inconvenience at times.

We look ordinary. Not much to get you off your seat, and not an individual player that looks exciting. That's not necessarily a criticism with such a massive turnover.

A far more in-depth analysis than i had a couple of hours ago but not sure we are exactly miles apart in our views.

RE the fitness, I assume players stayed on the field longer than normal today to get fitness. In preseason games very rarely did a player get 90 Mins so our fitness is clearly not there yet.

Thought our wide play was poor today. On a good day we’ve seen lobban devlin gyamfi and frame bombing down the line and we had width and numbers overload. Today we had smith and yogane far too often left alone 1 to 1 getting the ball too early and expecting them to run 40 yards to get to the line, with no fullback support. Particularly with Guinness walker, I thought he had legit pace and was attack minded, expected more from him today. Neither winger seemed overly capable beating their man, they did a little, but all very predictable. I’d say give them the ball 20-30 yards out to work some magic with the fullback overlapping of pushing on inside.

No judgement on the keeper, he’s been in the door 48 hrs. Didn’t look great, but made the saves when needed.

Some glaring misses again today, but at least we’re getting chances.

I don't think he was meant to be an attacking full-back. As I said when looking at the line-up pre-match, Robinson at St Mirren often sent one full-back forward and had the other tuck into defence while the rest moved across.

Against Linfield, Devlin started at LB, but essentially tucked in and made it a back three while Lobban went forward and basically played as a winger. Looks like we did the same today but the opposite side.
