Aberdeen v Raith Rovers

The Scottish Cup holders begin their defence of the world's oldest professional football trophy on Sunday 18th January at the Cathedral of Football, kicking off at 2:30 pm and being beamed all around an expectant world in full colour on BBC Television as they take on Championship side Raith Rovers.

Raith have been in patchy form recently, losing at the weekend at home to Arbroath. Aberdeen have been worse than shite recently, losing to everyone. Nevertheless, I fancy a 2-1 win for the Dons after extra time as we bid for a ninth Scottish Cup and a first defence of OUR cup since 1984.

Which was the last time we successfully defended the Scottish Cup that we had won the previous season. Because we won it in 1983. And 1982.

That was terrible. Is wouldn't trust Leven to take us forward on that showing. Some very average players on show, and we lined up badly. There is no room for Cameron and Armstrong in that side, it has

MITCHELL FRAME!!

The season has officially started.

Second half hat trick!

I am not enjoying this watch

That midfield three has been completely overrun. Cameron been okay, but I don't see why we've signed him. Armstrong clearly wants to be in that position, so he's been shunted back to a role where he's a fucking liability. Clarkson already needs one mobile and strong midfielder alongside him, the three lightweights together is just - very obviously - fucking ridiculous. It has to be Aouchiche and Shinnie plus one other in the SPFL. You need legs through that centre. Or aggression. Cameron or Armstrong or Clarkson, not two and definitely not three.

Yup. Besides being Scottish, does Cameron offer anything more than aouchiche or Armstrong?? (Besides younger and more of an engine than Armstrong maybe?)

We’ve seen the impact shinnie can have coming on, needed asap.

Are we coached to let the ball bounce????FFS. How many times do we let that happen

Pissing down and cold. Not the game for karlsson. Would rather see bilalovic.

Thank fuck Milanovic is off.  Hopefully never to be seen again

First time shot and it’s 2-0 ffs.

I think Karlsson must have 1-0 Aberdeen on his coupon.

Set-piece delivery?

We look a lot more of a threat from corners and free-kicks today, which when you're struggling for goals is a big thing.

No better than Clarkson at either.

Nisbet looked furious at Karlsson trying to have a pop himself there.

I’d argue Cameron looks more attack minded. I know he’s probably not getting the benefit of the doubt from many fans, but seems a lot more direct and forward thinking. We’ve been sideways and back a lot this season, think this is a difference despite it’s another center mid.

If I was watching this game as a neutral, I would have switched off some time ago.

There really isn't a great deal of pleasure to be taken from watching us

This for me too I watched both Hibs & Hearts games yesterday and this one is putting me to sleep

I’m not a nisbet fan but he’s def put in a shift today.

agree not a great game, but we’re def a lot faster and livelier in attack. Much better on the counter than the slow and sideways we’ve seen a lot of this season.

second needed for sure, this is going to be a nervy finish given the poor goals we tend to lose.

I don't think there's any evidence to back that up at all, which is why Cameron is on every set-piece.

If the ball brushes someone's arm - even if it doesn't offer an advantage - it's a penalty. Yet Devlin at the back post being pulled by the arm to stop him connecting with the ball is "not enough".

I thought that was weird saying there wasn't enough of a pull for it to be considered

Yeah. Much like all the fouls in the box from corners that are fouls anywhere else in the pitch. Surprised var didn’t take a look.

We’re managerless, low on confidence, not scoring, and not winning games. We’re through with a win and shutout, can’t ask for much more right now.

Cameron MOTM?

Awful watch but great that we are through

Onwards and upwards.

Guess result was the most important thing 👍

Sure as hell wasn't pretty
