Aberdeen v Raith Rovers

The Scottish Cup holders begin their defence of the world's oldest professional football trophy on Sunday 18th January at the Cathedral of Football, kicking off at 2:30 pm and being beamed all around an expectant world in full colour on BBC Television as they take on Championship side Raith Rovers.

Raith have been in patchy form recently, losing at the weekend at home to Arbroath. Aberdeen have been worse than shite recently, losing to everyone. Nevertheless, I fancy a 2-1 win for the Dons after extra time as we bid for a ninth Scottish Cup and a first defence of OUR cup since 1984.

Which was the last time we successfully defended the Scottish Cup that we had won the previous season. Because we won it in 1983. And 1982.

That was terrible. Is wouldn't trust Leven to take us forward on that showing. Some very average players on show, and we lined up badly. There is no room for Cameron and Armstrong in that side, it has

It'll be inverted I expect. Both wingers have been bought because that is their strength. I actually think Keskinen is much better on the left anyway. Ironically he seems more likely to hit the byline on his weaker foot than when he's on the right. Milanovic doesn't look like a winger at all, so might as well let him cut inside because he isn't fast.

Last time I seen him he was a centre mid who tried to control the game for Dundee unless there's two of him.

What has happened to Kjartansson? Thought this would be an ideal game for the development players to start but he’s not even in the squad.

Actually would prefer Kjarten and Clarkson behind Cameron, better balance.

We’re almost an expanded 5s team, such little balance, strength, ariel ability, graft. Could be good, could get completely overrun or killed in the air. Do think this was a game for shinnie to start.

Having to watch this on the telly today. @Panda, what's the purpose of having McFadden in the studio? He'll have seen plenty of Raith with his championship coverage, but they've also got Murray for that. When asked "What's going wrong at Aberdeen?", he doesn't have the slightest clue. Just the tired pish about us "heavily investing in the team" and other shite.

You boycotting on account of the Cameron signing 😉

Are you thinking McCowan? Cameron plays number 10. As Tony Docherty just said, 30 yards from goal is his area.

I boycotted the studio segment for those reasons. Poor.

Nice banner about no old firm loans?

No Suman on the bench?

Var today?

Jensen seems to have dropped out of favour under Leven also.

Not even making the bench, unless he's injured.

Anyone know 🤔

Everyone fit according to Leven’s press conference.

Goal of the year so far.

VAR check, though.

Good start! Happy for Milne.

We seem to have scored from a corner, didn't know you could do that

Var intervening because we did something good?

Goal given.

Yay!

Exactly the game we wanted so far. Not physical and we can play. Suits our technical players. Good intensity too.

misses the pregame, any info on Cameron re long term?

Ffs. Milanovic never goes wide. Much like topi recently, pretty much 1v1 if he’d only go on the outside. Santa didn’t bring a pacy winger, maybe one sneaks in this window??

Think Clarkson and Cameron could be very good together, def need a heavy lifter in there too though.

doing our best to get raith an equalizer, two scrambles now!

They've got Tony Doc at the game for TV, and Willie Miller for radio. And the commentator and pitchside reporters are both Dons fans. So is the producer.

Great coverage as ever.

Enough with the fucking around in our own box. My nerves can't take it.

I really struggle to see why mitov is still between our sticks. That pass to Clarkson 😳

Whoever has us pissing about with the ball at the back needs shot pronto
