Scottish Cup final: Aberdeen v Celtic - 24/05

I'll be in a minority that's glad it's Celtic we're playing in the final.

The 2017 final still rankles. We should have done it that day. Shay Logan standing off Stuart Armstrong and letting him hit that equaliser in a half when Celtic offered little. The Jonny Hayes - Kenny McLean mix up that should have given us a second (and to this day I still don't know who to blame).

Beat them on 24 May, win the cup, end a 35-year wait, and do it against a seemingly unstoppable side going for yet another treble. It would be beautiful and would finally put 2017 to bed.

Tickets

I don't actually think we'll sell 21,000. Too many just can't be arsed with what they think (wrongly) will be another defeat to Celtic. So 19,000 probably would do us.

However, it's important that Aberdeen fight for half of the North stand. The way the noise projects around Hampden, you can barely hear the fans behind the goal when you're at the other end. Give us half the north, the west stand, and the lower deck of the south. That's about 19,000 tickets - if we sell out, then give us the rest.

That's the first fight we need to win long before we get to Hampden.

I had a bit of a mare that night too, car was off the road and work was hellish.  By the time I got to the golf club they were nearly packing up.  Next thing I know I'm holding the Scottish Cup and the significance of what I was actually holding in my hand hit me like a ton of bricks.  It was a proper time slows down moment and I savoured it for all it was worth.

I’m going to pop in and see it on Friday

Brilliant 🤩

I showed everyone my photos and one of my mates reminded me how many amazing captains have held that trophy and I was like oooh Willie Miller haha

Anyone attend this tonight 🤔

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but it's not the actual Scottish Cup.

Shinnie and the lads got a wee shottie of it at Hampden last May before it was carefully placed back in its box and we got the replica to play with.

I've bought a replica of the World Cup for our work's summer prediction league, and even though I know it's an £8 replica, I still look at it longingly like it's the real thing.

I'm very easily pleased.

I know that. But all the captains and all the players have held, and showed off the replica, too. Eg the cup I held was the same one that was held aloft on the parade.

For me, it is a trophy of the gods, and nobody lifted it like our very own god back in the 80s.

I'd just look too glaikit, standing with it.

Each to their own though.

I went along last night and we were one of the later groups in. The first thing the guy said, was lift it two handed. Must’ve had a lot of Willie Millers in before me

A year ago today: Oday Dabbagh.

Halcyon days

How times change eh…

When Dabbagh scored all I felt was relief we didn't have to win a pen shoot out against Craig Gordon if I'm totally honest.

One year already.

A celtic fan will never know that feeling we all felt, when Mitov saved that final penalty, to win us the cup.
