Scottish Cup final: Aberdeen v Celtic - 24/05

I'll be in a minority that's glad it's Celtic we're playing in the final.

The 2017 final still rankles. We should have done it that day. Shay Logan standing off Stuart Armstrong and letting him hit that equaliser in a half when Celtic offered little. The Jonny Hayes - Kenny McLean mix up that should have given us a second (and to this day I still don't know who to blame).

Beat them on 24 May, win the cup, end a 35-year wait, and do it against a seemingly unstoppable side going for yet another treble. It would be beautiful and would finally put 2017 to bed.

Tickets

I don't actually think we'll sell 21,000. Too many just can't be arsed with what they think (wrongly) will be another defeat to Celtic. So 19,000 probably would do us.

However, it's important that Aberdeen fight for half of the North stand. The way the noise projects around Hampden, you can barely hear the fans behind the goal when you're at the other end. Give us half the north, the west stand, and the lower deck of the south. That's about 19,000 tickets - if we sell out, then give us the rest.

That's the first fight we need to win long before we get to Hampden.

One thing I loved was seeing all the forgotten players who've barely kicked a ball running on in their suits and getting right into the party atmosphere at full time. Shows the unity within the squad!! Even players who were kicking their (presumed) last ball in a Dons shirt were kissing the badge and showing how much this meant to them.

That's because despite Celtic's riches, we have something money can't buy: a soul, a team spirit built in a family tradition.

Just came up with that myself..

That's brilliant...you should market it on, say, a scarf or a mug or even write it on a wall somewhere.

I doubt anyone else in the world would come up with that. Not even a Ballon d'Or winner would come up with that

Just had it translated.

"Callum McGregors tears are sweet sweet justice"

I’ve watched the penalties at least once a day pretty much. Cannot tell you how proud of the team I am, what a game. But what gets me going is the fans. The noise, the passion, the red army. What an amazing support. I’m assuming it was a 50/50 split but the noise doesn’t suggest that, our fans were outstanding. Congrats to all of you. Don’t take seeing us live on a weekly basis for granted!

i was finishing my 6th year at lanark grammar in 1990. Worked in John Menzies all Saturday and taped the 90 final, managed to go the whole day without hearing the score, only for the video to run out midway through the second half of extra time. can’t believe that was 35 years ago. This one has been amazing, never got to see the 2014 league cup final live, watched this one on red tv with my 88 year old dad who was over here visiting.

been over here full time since 1995. Ive been to pittodrie 4 times in my life, last time I think it was dean windass scoring the winner against Dundee utd in 1998. Freezing that day, surprisingly. As a fan went to most away grounds, Aberdeen when you’re a kid in lanark was a little challenging to get to. When I come home I usually see us at Motherwell, Hamilton, falkirk, killie, livi, hearts, hibs etc., been a few times to parkhead and was there when Eric black scored his hat trick, and saw us win a few times at ibrox. Very jealous of you all who get to see us in the flesh regularly, never expected to live here and be a ‘foreign’ fan!
Amazing the optimism now with a cup win, keen to see if jimmy can move us forward. the Aussie winger is intriguing, very excited to see us pick up a 9 and 10. can’t wait for signings and the new season!

The fans were so so good. Our defence throughout the entire game was so so good. The 4 penalties were absolutely perfectly taken. And yes, I too have watched either the penalties or fan reaction viewpoints of the penalties every day since the game.

I've now listened to all three podcasts (Here We Go, ABZ and Red Tinted Glasses) just to drink it all in.

Still not getting bored.

I watched the highlights again on Premier Sports last night and was still jumping of chair for every penalty.

I really liked the voice notes from the day pod that here we go did.

Couldn't sleep very well last night and ended up getting up at 5 am this morning.

Treated myself to watching the game, penalty shout out, presentation and aftermath in its entirety.

It just keeps on getting better and better and something I will never tire of watching 👍
