Scottish Cup final: Aberdeen v Celtic - 24/05

I'll be in a minority that's glad it's Celtic we're playing in the final.

The 2017 final still rankles. We should have done it that day. Shay Logan standing off Stuart Armstrong and letting him hit that equaliser in a half when Celtic offered little. The Jonny Hayes - Kenny McLean mix up that should have given us a second (and to this day I still don't know who to blame).

Beat them on 24 May, win the cup, end a 35-year wait, and do it against a seemingly unstoppable side going for yet another treble. It would be beautiful and would finally put 2017 to bed.

Tickets

I don't actually think we'll sell 21,000. Too many just can't be arsed with what they think (wrongly) will be another defeat to Celtic. So 19,000 probably would do us.

However, it's important that Aberdeen fight for half of the North stand. The way the noise projects around Hampden, you can barely hear the fans behind the goal when you're at the other end. Give us half the north, the west stand, and the lower deck of the south. That's about 19,000 tickets - if we sell out, then give us the rest.

That's the first fight we need to win long before we get to Hampden.

Didn't film much post-match stuff as just wanted to put the phone away and drink it all in, but did film this.

The words of that could be changed to "mitovs on fire, tears are in Mcgregors eyes"

Or immediately before the first spot kick was taken... "Mitov's on fire, Callum McGregor's terrified"

Not usually a fan of vlogs at the matches, but interesting to watch how it all unfolded from the Celtic end.

That's Spider. I quite enjoy his matchday vlogs. He is a celtic fan, but he often wanders around to see other games. Nativity central belt, but he has five up to pittodrie quite a few times without celtic being there

Six months since that wonderful day 🏆

Second best day of my life.

What a day and what a weekend. Glorious.

I only wish I could have somehow bottled that feeling, after Mitov saved that penalty.

Was the best day in 1983 or when your kid(s) was (were) born?

My Sons are in joint first place.

I was 9 in 83 and didn't really get the significance of that win. Was just another trophy for us, at a time when we won lots.

Why not have one in Dundee so they can see what it looks like?

Those minks cannot be trusted not to steal it and melt it down.

Watched the highlights again after seeing this chain pop up again. Then watched the Scotland Denmark highlights. Two games that still bring me close to tears! These types of games aren’t normal, when was the last time we had those types with such pressure and importance? I don’t include the euro tournament games as we’d already qualified and we weren’t under that pressure/expectation.

we were such underdogs against Celtic, and hadn’t qualified for a World Cup in 27 years. The cup finals of 2014 and 1995 we were favorites, even the 90 final I think we were favorites.

Seeing us win the Scottish Cup was a bucket list item for me.  As is going to a world cup to see Scotland play. Waited 35 years for a Scottish cup and 27 for a World Cup and now they have both come along within 6 months of each other.  2025 has had some crazy ups and downs football wise

I dont know if it's deliberate, but the one in Edinburgh is on the same evening Hearts are playing, and the time of 6-8pm would be just as all the fans are drinking/making their way to Tynecastle past a pub full of Aberdeen fans getting their photo taken with the Scottish Cup. Fierce Bar isn't too far from Gorgie either.

Either terrific raigebait, or someone didn't check the fixture list before booking.

Not many of the Hunbo’s drink up on Rose Street. They all drink towards Haymarket and Dalry Road so should be fine.

Rose Street is too posh for the jambos 🤣
