Could be a couple of reasons. We clearly had Glass lined up, but it still took a few weeks to get it over the line. I'm guessing that if someone spectacularly good showed an interest, Cormack might change his mind. Things might come up at interview that weren't apparent during any sounding out process. Any approaches made to managers in current employment would necessarily be limited and of little substance: "would you be interested" type stuff. There's no certainty to it anyway. You certainly won't get CVs through the door until the vacancy arises. For my perspective, I'm concerned that we don't have the building blocks in place for any new manager, like we didn't for Glass. The club is trying to implement a strategy that transcends the manager and I personally think it's very important that is continued despite Glass' failure. The concern is that if we haven't got to grips with that strategy that we could either get a manager in without the required support (as we did Glass) resulting in failure, or that we get a manager in who is given too much responsibility (McInnes) because he sees areas that he can control, making it difficult to relieve him of that control and taking us back to where we were when McInnes left. In that situation, I see no harm in taking someone in until the end of the season, whether that be Robson or even a Jack Ross type looking for our employment (on our terms, obviously).

Dirthy Filthy Hun Scumbag Vermin (deceased) and Poundland tribute act
RicoS321 replied to mizer's topic in Football Chat
A decade since the Huns died (admin anyway, en route to death). Mental. Will go down as the biggest failure in Scottish football history. With another glorious helicopter Sunday looming, and teams getting skelped by 4 or 5 regularly, we're back to the early 2000s heyday. What an opportunity. -
You've taken things a little too far here
-
I wouldn't be surprised, and it might be the correct decision, if we have a caretaker in until the end of the season. That's exactly what should have happened when McInnes left. We weren't in anyway ready for Glass to take over. Are we now? I'm not convinced, and we really don't want a knee jerk Cormack decision.
-
Which Celtic? Current Celtic, or Ronnie roar Celtic. What specific quality does being foreign bring to the role?
-
The Huns, yes, but Brown has been welcomed and McGhee would have been absolutely fine if he hadn't made those comments on day one.
-
Fuck that. Illiterate weegie fuck.
-
He's not that good a player that we should be concerned, and he's professional enough - hopefully - not to down tools (apart from that time he did under deila). It was a ridiculous situation to sign him as player coach/assistant anyway, this was always going to happen. A coaching role is fine if he's willing to accept that on the terms of the new manager. He's absolutely nowhere near ready for a management role.
-
Westhill? Or maybe Milne took them for one of his new builds when he stepped down.
-
So it seems the entire backroom staff are gone too? That must include Brown surely? What's the difference between him and Russell for example? We can't be taking in a new manager and insisting that Brown is his assistant. I thought the whole idea is that we took in a team of people who reported to the director of football? Thus Russell, apaloo etc all report to him, and their jobs aren't tied to the manager. Either that isn't the case, or the Gunn has decided that they're all pish. I don't suppose it matters, we all said that Glass was a bad idea. It's a shame for him, he shouldn't have had to cross the Atlantic for a job he wasn't ready for. The whole prawcess has been a fucking disaster. At least the new manager will have the director of football and recruitment team in place before he joins, which should have happened prior to Glass being anywhere near pittodrie. Cormack has a lot to answer for, he can't afford not to learn lessons quickly.
-
Has he? Fucking hell, what a state.
-
Also, what the fuck do we do with Brown?
-
Right, thoughts? My money's on the statue of Fergie.
-
Beat me to it. Must be getting better. Oh well.
-
Better team won. They battled harder and played to the conditions. The last ten minutes throw of the dice doesn't really reflect the game as it played out. If Glass goes, hopefully he'll deliver Montgomery back to the scum as part of his package.
-
We'll, yes, but the existing Glass thread could have dealt with this.
-
That was disappointing. They've battled where we haven't. Woods is fucking gash, I think even Samson would have dealt with that. They've recognised he's pish and have been throwing the ball on top of him. The pitch is a fucking disaster and they've avoided playing on it pretty successfully. Montgomery shite for the first goal, and I'd have Kennedy on for him (although I understand the desire for a left footer there). If we can get the ball down and play then we'll beat them. McRorie going off is fucking annoying. Gallagher getting booked for being started on by the weird cunt up front for them was bizarre.

Sack Glass
-
Fucking hell, it's Craig Samson that's on the bench. Mental.
-
Jute must be really ill. Montgomery back in for no apparent reason. Very harsh on Kennedy. Otherwise, second half team from the Tims game Samson and shingler's list on the bench.

Jet was exactly the type of signing you expect from a manager who really only sees a player play against his own team. Exactly as McInnes did on numerous occasions. Exactly the type of signing that you expect a recruitment specialist with equal say in these matters a veto over. As we didn't have such an employee at the time, it's a completely acceptable error. He's not as shite as Calvin Zola, which was the equivalent McInnes signing in his first window. I'm guessing besuijen is the benchmark for how signings will be made in future, and we can judge Glass on his ability to get the best out of guys like that. Jet might give us a vital ten minutes between now and the summer, but I think that's the best we can hope for.

Were you at the game last night?

Apaloo is the tactics person. Unfortunately it seems he has to setup really badly first in order to see what the problems are. I didn't think the back three was a bad shout in fairness. A decent game in the end, we were unlucky. Think it's offside. Their second was lucky, the first was atrocious goalkeeping. Some really good freekicks, with two great balls from Ojo who did okay when he came on (McGeouch was pish). Gallagher had a solid game and looked far better than McRorie has done in there. McRorie was far more reliable at right back and needs to stay there. Ferguson had a great second half and another goal against the Tims, and Ramirez' finishing is really top drawer (especially the offside one). The balance of the team was so much better with Kennedy and besuijen on the wings, who both played well. Hayes good again too. Just the first half setup and the stupid errors that ruined it.

I second the motion that it'd be great for the forum if you didn't die, so get well soon.
