Seems sensible to me. Did well at Dumbarton, not so well at Falkirk. Now he’s a couple of years older, a whole season playing in the SPL will either show him up as not being good enough or cement his position as the successor to Lewis. If he is to be our future first choice keeper then we need him to get as many top league games under his belt as we can until the time comes for him to take over. He’s not going to progress sitting on the bench for another season.

Maybe so but I have a feeling that if Celtic offered Christie to us for £500k and he was keen to sign, we’d find the cash.

Not sure if we have anything left in the pot for transfer fees but Chris Cadden has a year left in his contract so could be available relatively cheaply. That would be an exciting signing worth pushing the boat out for.

Hamilton signed Ziggy Gordon who plays the same positions as this McGowan guy. Hamilton don't seem to be the sort of team that doubles up on players in each position.

Jack Ross gives Chris Maguire a 2 year contract at Sunderland in addition to the Hearts goalie and ex-Hearts defender Alim Ozturk. I hope he knows what he's doing filling his team with mediocre SPL players.

If we’re going to lump long balls up to Cosgrove all afternoon, it’ll be a walk in the park for the Celtic defence. They’ll be out to get to him after his tackle on Quasimodo last time.

Finishing 2nd by beating Celtic would be a nice way to wrap up the season. Finishing 2nd by relying on Hibs to beat Rangers at home, something we couldn’t do, would still keep us in a state of optimism deprivation. Finishing 3rd will cost us £500k and will impact on our budget for next season. Hopefully we avoid that.

Celtic could well play a reserve team and never get out of first gear. McInnes would still have us camped on the edge of our own box just to be on the safe side.

Cosgrove up front on his own, May and Rooney on the bench. Cosgrove has done ok in the last 2 games but I think we would be better with some experience leading the line in this type of game.

I hope McInnes is going to spend time watching how other teams beat Rangers this season by putting them on the back foot and keeping them under pressure. If we give them time and space to play football, they’re well capable of giving us a doing. Again. Home match, 3 points are required, there’s no excuses for letting them play their game and hoping to get some scraps on the counter attack.

What was it? 1 goal in 17 for Hearts? This seems like the Goodwillie signing all over again, and another complete waste of a shirt. Not sure where McInnes seems to have earned this reputation for turning around players who have gone off the rails a bit. It seems like McInnes has tried to bring in a Rooney replacement on the cheap several times now and has continually failed because despite what Rooney lacks, you can't just pick up someone who's capable of consistently scoring 20+ goals a season from the scrap heap.
