He’s not a fashionable name which is what it comes down to. As a comparison, I see Jon Dahl Tomasson has just left Blackburn with them sitting 18th in the English Championship. I am guessing half of our support would back him to be our next manager based on the fact he once beat Rangers and is foreign.

Tomasson won league twice with Malmo and 44% of his games at Blackburn (above Warnock’s average 40% win ratio) so would have been worth considering but given he is allegedly getting the Swedish international gig next I suspect that ship has sailed.

Warnock is the darling of the English talk shows and soccer Saturday so hardly unfashionable. I just do not get the benefit of brining him in does.

Why are you concentrating on his record in the English Premier League Jute? I don’t see why that is relevant at all? If anything, the standard/style of our football up here is more akin to the lower leagues in England anyway.

You’re being incredibly harsh on the guy. His stints in the top flight have been managing the likes of Sheffield United and QPR where you are always going to be fighting against the odds, he’s hardly going to have similar stats to Fergie, Wenger and Klopp. He didn’t exactly have the luxury of Henry and Cantona in his teams.

Because to win the cup up here you usually have to beat one of if not both the weegie bigots. The financial gap between us and them is very similar to the gap between Warnock’s teams in top flight and bigger teams down there so think his record in those sort of games is relevant.

I am sure Warnock will win games against the dross up here but not enough to catch Hearts. Plenty of others could have done that possibly even Leven as we have a number of decent players. Just think we are paying for him to tick off something on his bucket list that isn’t really doing anything to benefit us in the long term.

Excellent post. I’m honestly unclear as to what specifically about Warnock has got a couple on here quite so angry.

I dislike Warnock as a person especially when you look beyond the fluff pieces his pals in the press write about him. Also his record is actually not that great. His better results have been in lower leagues in England but even then he’s only ever won one league title and never won a cup. His top flight record in England is poor only winning 24% of of matches and getting sacked or relegated each time. I just don’t get why so many seem to think someone who spent vast majority of his career in lower leagues in England will suddenly be a winner in our league. His interviews remind me very much of the ones that got folk (including me at the time) wanting Strachen to be Scotland manager. They are funny at first but then become embarrassing.

Lastly as Rico says above I can’t see where he fits with our supposed strategy. Just seems to be a waste of time and money.

    I don’t. I want to win a cup!

Would love to see us win the cup but not sure how a lower league joker from England who’s never won the cup in his career is going to suddenly do that.

With Tlg on this quicker this season is over and Warnock fucks off back to England with a pile of our money the better.

  5. Saw Bonnyrigg play Elgin on Tuesday and while they look a better side than Clyde they looked pretty limited and we should be winning this easily at home. A side we would have beaten even with Robson in charge. Might have been harder if we were playing away from home as the slope on their pitch has to be seen to be believed.

Thoughts on killian Phillips so far? Thought he did ok against Celtic, and was a little unlucky with his long distance effort. Definitely offers something different in center mid, but certainly doesn’t his the fact we are still drastically short on wide midfielders. Do see him starting against rangers too, he gets stuck in and then maybe bring in flair later in the game.

Athlete not a footballer and a red card waiting to happen.

ETA - This is a quick first impression as lad has not had chance to adapt to game up here.

Am not averse to the idea now.Might get a laugh for a few months,...he might help sort out upstairs while hes at it.As long as we're stll looking or have someone in mind for next season

Can I suggest comedy clubs if you want a laugh rather than us employing a lower league manager like Warnock’ for his banter filled press conferences.

  8. Would expect us to line up same as Saturday but would maybe drop Phillips and start Clarkson in more forward like he was in second half. Fully expect us to lose. Not going as I wouldn’t give these cunts the steam of my piss never mind £35.

  9. Movement to create the space by Miovski was brilliant then the run and finish were just standard Miovski.

First half was a terrible watch. To go entire first half without touching the ball in their penalty area was brutal.

Second half improvement was nothing to do with Leven and everything to do with me fucking off out at halftime. No need to thank me.

  10. Bringing in Warnock and consultants is just chucking away money that we could be spending on the squad this summer. As Rico said are the consultants really going to tell Cormack it’s his choices of Director of Football and Chief exec that are part of the problem. I seriously doubt it. Warnock is just in it for the cash and will say whatever he thinks will keep the money coming in. His record is always spun positively by the media because he’s good for a quote and interview when in fact his record is not that great at all. A lot of emphasis on his promotions from lower leagues and his relegations from top flight completely ignored. I really just don’t get why we are doing this.

  11. Warnock surely cannot be considered even as an interim appointment. Teams don’t play the style we are looking to implement, no knowledge or experience of Scottish football and will likely cost a fortune.

    Neil Lennon now 2/5!

Rhys McCabe has appeared at 8/1!

Steve Clarke at 16/1. He’d never come to us at least for the time being surely.

Lennon would guarantee my finding something else to do on a Saturday until he inevitably crashed and burned.

McCabe would be an interesting shout if he had been at Airdrie longer and and maybe got them promoted but at the moment think it’s too early for him.

After winning the Euros this summer Clarke will want a tilt at winning World Cup so can’t see it being him.

  13. One of my concerns over appointing an interim manager is that it puts us behind for summer recruitment. We need to get the new manager in now so as he can review existing squad and start working as soon as possible with recruitment team on identifying targets for the summer.

  14. So in the whole window we bring in only one player to play in a position we already have plenty of cover in and don’t bring in any defenders or wide players. Pretty disappointing to say the least. However on the plus side I am stunned and delighted there were no bids for Miovski as was convinced he would be away this window. Now at least keep his goals until the summer.

Is it soon to open the summer transfer thread?

  15. Have to hope for a “no manager” bounce but even with that fully expect another doing off the victims. Would like to see Barron starting if he is still here. Midfield looks better with him in it so if he’s here he should play. Unless we get a defender suspect we will need to stick with same back 5 as Dundee game as McDonald seems to struggle in a 4. Early kick off gives me the excuse not to go that I will probably grab.
