  1. Watched the first part of the Sinking of the LAconia last night. Really interesting. Second part on tonight at 9 pm on BBC2.
  2. You do that Bobo. How it will stop your ability to read escapes me though.

Great film. Still prefer A Bridge too Far myself though. As an aside one of the actors in The Longest Day was actually in the oxs and buffs who landed at, took, and held pegasus bridge from the germans on D-Day.
  4. Was he? I thought he just wasn't getting a game for them and had no serious injury woes at the huns. Still like my version of events. As I say they would have had to pay his wages to terminate his contract anyway so may as well put him out on loan and get a defender in for cover as a return and see how he fares. Really a win win situation for the huns.
  5. Just reading this now: Half way through and must say it's very good and certainly one of the best sports books I have read.
  6. Aye but that is where his injury problem really started. He hardly ever played for them so that would make it pointless as a get him fit exercise. The huns may have hoped that the serious injury he suffered down there was behind him and sent him to us for the reasons I have already stated.
  7. Ah the Alan Gow link. It really wouldn't be a transfer window if we were not linked with him.
  8. I disagree with you here bobo. Maybe the huns felt that they could send us Velicka on loan he would get his fitness and sharpness back and they could offer him a new contract, probably on reduced terms due to his injury woes. This would have been a striker that along with Kendo "super goal machine" Miller would help to replace boyd and give them some experienced attacking backup on the bench. I reckon he huns would have reasoned he had a far greater chance of first team action at us rather than them what with their 4 million signing. They may also have been worried about losing Kenny Miller this season as well as his contract is up. A win win situation for them. They would have had to pay his wages if they paid him off anyway. This way they get defensive back up and give Velicka a chance to prove his fitness.
  9. I reckon it could be hodgson, ancelloti and jabba the hutt all gone in the morning.
  10. They will just play each other 32 times a season then. Seriously though I still think the old firm view their future outside of the Scottish game. Be that in a North Atlantic or Pan european league or moving own to england. They will continue to bite the hand that feeds them as they don't really care about the rest of scottish fitba IMO. They have the real bagaining power in Scotland with regards to sponsorship and TV deals and they will continue to use that power for their benefit and not the league as a whole. See the farce of making clubs charge their fans more money for the "honour" of playing them for what I feel is at least some proof of this.
  11. This one point here is a massive downfall. It will mean less money for the old firm. Their attendances are also falling and I can't imagine any of the newly promoted teams in an 18 team league being much of a draw for any of their fans which would mean less revenue for them. Since they make up two of he 12 who need to vote they would vote against and that would scupper any plans.
  12. Yes, depending on the positions we recruit them in. If it is across the defence or a winger then I would say yes. We are understaffed on the wing and at LB and RB and our regular centre halfs have hardly made a sterling case for their continued inclusion in the squad.
  13. Sorry maybe didn't make it clear. I meant folk getting worked up about it over on mad not here.
  14. Pictures not showing for me on my works computer for some reason. Is this the flag that is of the same shape and consistency of the union flag but in different colours? If it is then I'm with Dave. Don't see why so many get so worked up about it. The thread on Mad was pathetic as well. Oh and can we get a "the man don't give a fuck" option as well. Thanks.
  15. 1 more death for you. Pete postelthwaite. Keyser soze in mourning.
  16. Cheers. Didn't think it would be for the performance.
  17. Reports that the fans were booing at half time. Anyone confirm or deny and if so why were they booing? Cheers
  18. Aye we can hope. I think it will totally depend on how the jute minks play. If they play well we will be lucky to come away with a draw due to the continued gashness of our defence. Badcock on his day would tear our back four to pieces with the way they are playing this season. Hopefully mcnamee will come in for us though and stop the attacks coming down at least one flank as that was a major problem the last time we played them at tannadump. I think the best we can hope for is a draw. Sadly.
  19. I'm actually starting to dislike Lennon even more as a manager than I did as a player and I thought he was a tossbag of the highest order then. He's a failing manager and the signing of Ljunberg smacks of utter desperation to me. I feel he'll turn out to be another old age flop ala Keane (Roy), Gravesen and Ian Wright.
  20. I think you should view it more as a sticking plaster rather than a long term cure for the ills of the SPL and scottish fitba in general. Yes in the long run the fans may become bored and even more will leave to go shopping etc. on a Saturday with their misses but they need to be seen to do something to at least try and raise the standard. A 10 team league means that we get to play the bigot brothers more which brings more fans through the gate than any other game. This should increase revenue for the clubs in the short term. Long term I also think, as most others on here seem to aswell, that something else will need to be done.
  21. Magic. At this point in time and taking our position in the league in to account I will take scrappy 1-0 wins all day long.
  22. In/Oot? Oot Pematcher: Work Postmatcher: Work Prediction: 2-1 Aberdeen
  23. Aye but a £2 change in pricing structure is not going to entice much fans out of the wood work. Even a 25% drop will mean that you need to bring 25% more fans through the gate which also probably wouldn't happen A £10 ticket would probably see an increase in fans but again this would need to be offset with the amount of fans coming through the door. From a financial point of view I don't think it will happen.
  24. I get it from the fact that it got very boring before we went to a 12 team league. Familiarity didn't breed contempt. It bred "fuck me it hibs AGAIN." Especially if you were drawn against them in one, or even worse two, of the cups. Of course at this point in time I would be happy to play hibs all the time. I agree that playing for nothing can be boring but when you have nothing to play for at the end of the season you then have an opportunity to bring in some youngsters into the squad to try them out. Or the tightening of finances will just make the league even worse meaning less and less fans turning out to watch an even more overpriced, substandard product. It is pretty much a catch 22 situation and I have no idea on what can be done that all fans will agree on, or even the majority, as the correct way of going forward.
  25. This is the most pathetic thing I have heard regarding this whole deal. "I'm nae sikin foster back as he played for i huns." Nothing to do with lack of footballing ability. Oh and thats not aimed at you either. I just wonder if Mcghee thought that Velicka was too good a signing to miss and Mcardle would be a good RB. Obviously not worked out that way but a fully fit Velicka would have been a good signing for us IMO.
