Chick Dung was going on about this a couple of weeks ago on the radio. Rangers/someone connected with them (who isn't these days?) made a serious attempt to buy St Mirren FC. The bit about being asked if they used EBTs is interesting too. The statement doesn't deny they used them and I wonder if Rangers were also trying to build a case against the SFA/SPL by dragging other clubs into their mess?

Hearts have brought it in to "generate maximum ticket revenue" and make them a self-sustainable business. i.e it's a rise in prices well disguised. As Jager said it's only for season tickets, but I was replying to the idea it could come in for matchday tickets.

Interesting to see what the SPL have to say about it though. Home fans in the same stand (does it not apply to equivalent stands too i.e the one opposite seeing as it's the same view and same facilities?) have to pay the same as away fans. Yeah Hearts will argue that tickets go on sale at the same time to those away fans but it just wont work that way. As for the scheme itself, I can see it having a negative effect on attendances. Football is already overpriced and as soon as the prices go up over what they would normally be fans will think fuck it I'll try for a different match meaning Hearts will effectively be capping their own attendances (at a level below capacity - with no or very little fans paying more than they are now).

So they haven't threatened to withdraw all co-operation, because they can't. And how does doing the bare minimum required under the rules threaten the future of the current deal? Sky might not be happy but they can't pull out of the deal if the SPL/Celtic continue to adhere to the terms. The BBC is just as bad at reporting all this shite as any of the tabloids. They are continually putting out stories like this to support the "Scotland needs the Old Firm" shite. They continually report that the TV deal requires 4 OF matches even after the SPL have admitted this was a lie.
