Didn't Claude Levi-Strauss die a month or so ago ? EPK has him although beign a dirty hatter who derides the DT name he should be cast out (in other words keep him back form my single point position!).
-
Have a horrible feeling if we played Young he would have a mare but agree it would be hard on him not to get the chance.
-
While that is very true, I'm actually more excited with the fresh young blood, the attempts at playing expansive attacking football and the fact that we are looking at signing these guys up on long deals to maximise their potential and value.

On very recent form we will miss Kerr's dig in this one, although they still lack the same with Brown being out (is he still?). We just can't keep a settled side at present with red cards and injuries, its a miracle that we are competing at all. This one could go any way really but I'm hopeful our new found determination to succeed despite the efforts of hatchet men and referees will see us through, ugly or not.

Is it bad that I am buzzing about next weekend already ?

If UTD take them in the postponed fixture in December they could be down battling for a Europa league place with 4 other teams. Still, the EPL awaits them...... -

Think you are right, its togetherness rather than the siege mentality that impresses me. I think the Hibs game was a turning point, the sense of injustice has really galvanised our team and they have kicked on from that defeat. Even against Motherwell we looked comfortable with ten men against a side playing with confidence. Hopefully the Celtic game won't knock our confidence as it probably still a little fragile

Hibs did quite well at it, think 2 hit the bar. Hearts attempt is a laugh, not one of their players even gets it on target. Although Hearts and laughing are synonymous.

The scum were one day away from being unbeaten in the SPL for a whole calendar year. Today just got a little sweeter. -
It depends if they can do it with a degree of class. Hearts have tried to create a divide between them and the authorities/OF and they have looked like utter dicks for it.

The stand at Alloa was a belter. Mind you with the relentless, horizontal rain it looked mighty inviting. It was a bit like a fat birds arse after 10 pints. Pleasing to the blurred eye and you just wanted to go inside to be warm.

Christ, are we playing UTD at the weekend ? Sounds like the sort of piss McGhee comes out with for the away dressing room pin board.

Its a compelling argument you have there mate. I'm with you.

I fail to see how an out of town facility would be considered a lesser option than a city centre one for attracting such major events. In many ways a facility that does not require visitors to navigate the inevitable city centre chaos would be significantly more desirable. You are failing to comprehend that there is a population outside of the very centre of Aberdeen who would benefit from accessing a stadium outwith the city centre. With Aberdeen FC this population is not an insignificant one as a large amount of the home support is derived from central belt fans and Grampian based supporters. There is also an increasingly large percentage of fans who will travel by car to football and this might also suit their needs. In actual fact, those of us who choose to travel by train to games and centre our day around pissing it up locally and crawling in to the ground at 2:58pm are increasingly in the minority. But hey, lets ignore all that and demand that the game stand still to service our needs.
-
Lets hope the scum run themselves into the ground to get some sort of result.

He has established himself as one of the best talents in the SPL over the last 18 months and is knocking on the door of the Nigerian first team. Despite a poor season, he would still command a significant fee on the basis of his reputation. When he scores goals like he did against St Johnstone and Celtic, these are the barometers being used by other clubs to assess his ability and value. As week-in-week-out fans you may know something different but it matters not a shit. Perceived form is what drives the market so we should get him signed up if we want to see a decent roi. Is that enough ?
-
Yes, lets build a city centre stadium. There must be Dons fans on the Council or in big local businesses who will sell us some exorbitantly expensive land at a discounted rate to make it happen. Hell, if we can find a local construction firm who have the Dons best interests at heart then we might get it built for buttons. If I was an influential council planner or owned my own business or was a stadium construction specialist I'd do it for free because after all we are all Dons fans together. That alone trumps any sense of commercial sense or motivation to look out for your own interests. Nothing brings out the altruistic tendency like the scent of an opportunity to progress Aberdeen football club. Great stuff.

There are some great song suggestions on Abmad for this one. My personal favourite is: Are you HBoS in disguise... http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=4&fid=27&sty=2&act=1&mid=2123981228 -
Its a fair point. I would assume that the additional new stadium requirement will come from private funding. A fresh greenfield development will provide much more opportunity for commercial investments and initiatives than trying to shoehorn a revamped stadium into a locked in urban site. I suspect that people are underestimating what is required to redevelop Pittodrie to turn it into a modern arena. Its often significantly more troublesome and expensive to redevelop an existing run down structure than to build fresh.

P&J: McGhee in move for ex-Rangers forward
Ajja replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
If he is a striker who can hold up play and actually find the net then Miller's coat must be on the proverbial shoogly peg. -
OK, I'll try to get this one straight...again. You are right in all you say and I agree with it entirely. Having shared many drunken trips with me you know I am all for this picture you paint and it is absolutely the lifeblood of the footballing day out that you and I enjoy and want to enjoy forever. Trouble is, saying it, writing it, maybe even believing it is not going to change it. Modernisation is taking football in a different direction and however much that hurts the traditionalists its still going to happen. Progress will always trump the luddism and emotional rhetoric. As for developing Pittodrie, is the sale of the land not the key to any new stadium whether it be ground up new build or major redevelopment ? Surely the money just isn't there to fund a revamp of the scale required.

I'm starting to feel that any team beating the OF is good for the league this season. We are not going to do to much this season as we are in a process of rebuilding so I want to see the OF kept close to the rest so we can put to bed any notion that they are significantly better than us. That way, they may get dragged back into the pack psychologically and players, young ones particularly, will be less inclined to jump to them so quickly.

You need to go back and read my comments. Pre-match boozing is the best part of any Saturday as far as I am concerned but you have to accept at some point that the old fashioned structures of football are becoming redundant.

Its been painful enough watching 10 minutes of the bleeding hearts on Children in Need tonight without subjecting myself to your repeated attempts at bleeding yet more cash out of my wallet with your charity cock-duster. Plus my 3 week old daughter is cutting the throat of football pleasure for the time being
