  1. Exactly this. If one or both the OF are winning week in week out you’re not getting near them. None of us have the quality in depth to do it for 38 games. If they both start fumbling games like this season you’ve got a decent shot at it.
  2. Were you getting a pie when Shinnie rolled that ball into the clutches of the Utd keeper? I’m taking that as a bona fide SoT.
  3. Bit of self reflection could be useful at this point. While I agree with your point about differing opinions being shut down, that’s not strictly what you’ve been doing these last weeks. You’ve been prolific on a board that’s reasonably subdued so are going to create some form of impact just with that. On top of that, you’ve often been provocative and antagonistic with your views. Sometimes appearing to court controversy to attract attention to your opinions. None of that is a crime and it’s fair you defend your right to do it. Personally, I don’t mind a different point of view being thrust into a public discussion, certainly creates topics to debate and life about the place but it can be difficult to sympathise when you consistently call others out for their views (being overly negative, spastics etc etc) and then behave like your being attacked when the opposite happens. Not telling you how to behave by any means, just suggesting maybe toning down the controversial bait until folk get to know you. I’m fairly new on here myself (although used to post decades ago) and have had to temper my natural argumentative self a bit as I settle in. Makes for a much more enjoyable time if we just respect each others right to a view and have open and honest discussion.
  4. It’s a really difficult comparison to make right now because we are so low on confidence and being poorly coached by the looks of it. We are changing our starting 11 week to week with no stability and even within that shifting players from position to position without any partnerships forming either at CB, up the wings or up top. We are the very definition of temporary right now with a chunk of our starting 11 either on loans deals or short term contracts, including the management team. It’s easy to then think the players are all garbage as performances are poor. Hearts are riding on confidence and everyone is busting a gut to play for the cause. Even with changes due to injury they are still getting results as they want it collectively. I’m def not arguing against the idea that they currently look like a team who are player for player just better than us. Same with Motherwell but I’m not fully convinced that with a stable set up and coaching in place that would be the case. We really are making a cunt of it just now.
  5. I think we are a lot more capable at home. Red cards have disrupted recent games but we have looked much more in control in longer spells in home games. Thought we looked a bit more solid at back against the Jambos at the weekend. That said, I would def be throwing out the second string to protect players for weekend.
  6. He is a genius, I mean shitting the bed in both cup competitions deliberately to keep focus on the league is impressive work. McInnes set the trail though.
  7. Cunt was at the bastard garden today as well. Who does he think he is. Dead to me.
  8. Yeah but it was a disgrace of a performance. Miller and McLeish won it by themselves. Then we only went and done it again.
  9. Given we’re at home, think we have a chance of scoring. Celtic are still pretty ropey at the back and they’ll have an eye on the QF. Hopefully Murray plays at CB
  10. That’s fine in a pre-VAR world where games were officiated in isolation to some extent. Even then there were still ‘rules’ being applied, there was just a lot more interpretation allowed. VAR has almost enforced a level of scrutiny and specific clarification of what constitutes a foul in granular detail. On top of that, we now have officials who are either not willing or not able to referee the game in front of them so we are operating with a different set of standards that lean towards consistency of application. I’m not a fan of the current situation and would gladly see us revert back but I’m not willing to accept that I’m an idiot for hoping for the rules to be applied consistently either.
  11. Not a significant problem no but a frustration that in the modern game you can force that play, the rules are unclear and most importantly not applied consistently by the officials or VAR. I doubt there is much to be gained by debating the inconsistencies in officiating, it’s been done.
  12. I guess the difficulty here is the penalty Dundee got against us. In my head if a player deliberately gets in front of a player who is travelling forward and initiates contact it’s not a foul. Both the Dundee penalty and the Armstrong one are not penalties but one is given. This is the problem.
  13. Finding it hard to care about this one, or any other league fixture we are involved in at this stage. Just make it stop. League has come down to hoping the Motherwell train can derail Jambos and the scum and that Killie’s resurrection has now fallen flat on its face. What a time to be alive.
  14. Armstrong has been very passive in games I’ve seen him in. Looks like he needs others to battle around him and he’s not had that. In a three with Geiger or Shinnie where Cameron is doing the running he might get more opportunity to create. We need to exploit their right side as they are vulnerable there but if we don’t play Topi I can’t see how we do that.
  15. Says afc chat
  16. AFC chat has the volume problem. Attracts zoomers and attention seekers. I haven’t seen evidence of what you are calling out on here. I choose to read and post because it doesn’t. Sure it’s slow at times but views are generally measured and respectful. A dynamic you are definitely challenging
  17. If you cross correlate football fans of any club and the internet unfortunately you’ll find that. For some clubs, a prevalence of it. Fortunately, this forum appears to have avoided such types, probably due to the low volumes.
  18. Probably a bit harsh to suggest it’s coming from a place of xenophobia. I suspect it’s more the collective ‘once bitten’ feeling we all have after Thelin flattered to deceive. The tendancy after a foreign manager failure is to revert back to what feels familiar.
  19. If the club feel he is the right person for the role (let’s trust for a second they know what they’re doing) then I’d say it makes sense to wait as long as there is belief that it will eventually happen. I’m not keen on a knee jerk change of direction to make the back end of this season feel less shit. Suspect (fucking hope) there are two many teams between us and 11th and points gap is enough that we are safe. I also think cup games will take care of themselves, players look like they have a different attitude there and are up for defending it. I’ve got a good feeling about that one, managerless or not.
  20. Looks like a spot the difference game that. For the record, other than 26 becoming 6, I failed to find anything.
  21. I recall us commenting how high up the park Devlin was later in the game, sometimes ahead of the leading striker but that could say as much about where Nisbet ended up being forced to play.
  22. It’s actually a decent read as you get a cross pollination of views from various fans and they generally keep the bigot brothers on a separate forum. It’s got a quite a lot of Motherwell, St Mirren etc types but the views are quite reasonable. Zoomers seem to be at a minimum.
  23. Really looking forward to this one. Potentially the last chance we get this season to load up on beer and stand in the ever present forest of expectation, just for a moment. COYR.
  24. Interesting read over on P&B for the match thread. It’s hard to fathom the concern the Jambo faithful have about a piss poor Dons team coming to Tynecastle where we haven’t won since Primordial Earth. They have really got the fear this title is going to slip away. …..when routine bites hard and ambitions are low…….
  25. Yeah, for an evening game in Feb, on a pitch that would have been more at home in Passchendaele, after the game was rearranged and we’ve been playing like East Stirling I’d say 2000+ is a god damn miracle
