  1. Reds midfielder McDONALD COULD BE PART OF SWAP DEAL Dons ready to raise Barr as they move for Bairn By Michael Gannon Published: 08/01/2010 http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/1552526 Aberdeen will make a January bid to sign Falkirk captain Darren Barr and are ready to offer midfielder Gary McDonald as part of the deal. The transfer window is coming to life with English League 1 side Huddersfield Town poised to make a pre-contract offer to Dons defender Charlie Mulgrew. Both centre half Barr and McDonald are out of contract in the summer and available on free transfers. The Bairns are resigned to losing the Scotland international for nothing at the end of the season but could be persuaded to part company early in exchange for McDonald. McDonald was offered a contract extension at Pittodrie before Christmas but negotiations have not progressed and he could now be set for an exit. The 27-year-old former Kilmarnock midfielder is a regular in the Dons side but, with his value depreciating as his contract winds down, the Pittodrie club view the transfer window as the ideal time to cash in. The move hinges on the players agreeing to the move as both clubs are operating within strict budgets. Barr is also a target for former Falkirk manager John Hughes, who is keen on taking the 24-year-old to Hibs, and there are several other interested clubs on both sides of the border. The highly-rated centre back has made more than 100 appearances for the Bairns and received his first Scotland cap in the Hampden friendly 0-0 draw against Northern Ireland last August. He retained his place in George Burley’s squad for qualifying matches against Macedonia and Iceland and is tipped to be a regular at international level. Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee signed centre back Jerel Ifil in the summer but is looking to strengthen all areas of his team and is keen to build a core of talented young players. Barr’s versatility will appeal to McGhee, particular as defender Maurice Ross’s short term deal expires in a fortnight and he has yet to commit to a prolonged stay. The Dons manager is also wary he could lose fellow defender Mulgrew in the summer. Mulgrew has entered the final six months of his contracts at Pittodrie and can speak to other clubs. Former Scotland under-21 international Mulgrew has several suitors, including ambitious First Division side Dundee, but Huddersfield are ready to make an official approach. Mulgrew, who is the Dons leading goalscorer this season with four goals, has received an improved offer at Pittodrie after an initial proposed deal was rejected. The player has not ruled out staying at the club. Former Dons target Paul Obiefule yesterday started training with his new club HBK Honefoss to end any ambiguity surrounding his availability.

  7. I'd be interested to know why you say it's a myth.
  8. When you consider that we paid £1,000,000 for him then i believe it puts him top of the list!

  11. Just in and a wee bit cold. Getting back to the game though, it was a WEE bit better than last week if we had to take a +ve out of this match. Overall though, gash! Did anyone notice someone from the "Directors" section (padded seats) in the Main Stand having a go at McGhee, who responded by telling the person in question to come down and do better. Laughable. I don't blame McGhee yet, as he has a bunch of fuds to work with, but mark my words the clock is ticking!! STAND FREE!! PS - Miller should never have been sent off. A yellow card for a clumsy challenge but it was never red!
  12. btw, previous image posted is copyright of Aberdeen Football Club .....
  13. I can see the green green grass of Pittodrie ...
  14. I'll go for a cracking match with heaps of goals and excitement! 3-1 Aberdeen STAND FREE!!
  15. Headline from todays EE ... It may be correct, but I am assuming that Drew means the season can be saved if DM "Foxtrots Oscar" and free's up some cash allowing us to sign someone who can score goals. STAND FREE!!
  16. Possibly, but then again you don't get to play for your country if your shit, unless you come from San Marino or Andorra etc... ;o) STAND FREE!!
  17. If you read the rest of the translation, there is a startling comment at the end: He (Paul Obiefule) was a cheap player for us, "said Geir Havard in a comment after the contract was signed. AFC must be in some very serious trouble if he was going to be the "highest" paid player at Todders! STAND FREE!!
  18. .... but it's not the biggest "mug" that is needed to go along with the tastefully decorated women in my avatar ....
  19. Fookin Hell, that's a bit steep (£13.99 + £6.00 postage). Costco are selling this cheaper .... And they certainly don't retail for the (£40-£50) as mentioned. STAND FREE!!
  20. I don't think he is a "Hun" cunt but I don't think that he has ever set the heather on fire in his short time with us to date. I would have to say mediocre at best (and very pish against Hamilton), and this is backed up by the teams he has played for since he left Rangers. If he was that good he would have never left Iprix! At then end of the day, i believe that we would have never ended up at "Todders" if we didn't have so may defensive gaps due to injuries etc. STAND FREE!!
  21. Sorry BB, I saw nowt. But then again I reckon i was 1/2 way home in the car by the time the final whistle went .... STAND FREE!!
  22. Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee: "I think the performance was poor, and to get back into it at 1-1, when we weren't sure we were going to manage that, only to contrive to lose the game was massively disappointing. "Hamilton came here and they were everything we expected them to be, full of determination and worth ethic - competing for every ball. "Our young players can learn from that, because they didn't always do that today. They played in fits and starts, and they need to do better. "I think young players can be inconsistent, but we can't use that as an excuse for them. "If they want to be in the first team and they pick up the jersey, we demand consistency and go out there, and at the very worst, work as hard as Hamilton did. "I don't think we did, and we were beaten because Hamilton worked harder than us."
  23. I see that MM's post match interview or comments are NOT on BBC website ..... did he give one? I really hope he gave that bunch of useless wankers what for in the dressing room at full time. No wonder Deek Young wants to stay here for the remainder of his contract, he might get a fuckin game! STAND FREE!! Taxi for the Aberdeen 1st XI that played today ....
