  1. If true, bang goes my wee theory that Jimmy was planning on playing 3-5-2 next season. Probably a good thing that he's not though.
  2. So, a 35 yr old Darren Mackie?
  3. Fuck sake Jimmy another Scumdee Utd reject!!
  4. I ken, beginning to get bored of slagging the club for nae signing anyone. I'd much rather be slagging them for WHO they have signed.
  5. Sounds good but how is it being split? Could be 45% Rangers, 45% Celtic, 10% the rest.
  6. That I've seen play, Jim Bett. He could play the passes that would would make Mackie a 30 goal a season striker.
  7. What's your greatest hope for this season? To win the league - And your biggest fear? Relegation - Most important player The left-back we haven't had for umpteen years - Cult hero/terrace favourite Zander Diamond - Keep an eye out for. (young player) Does Considine @ 21 count? Big season for him, cut out the stupid mistakes and we have potentially one of the best centre back pairings in the SPL. - Player you'd happily drive to his next club. Bertrand Busso (Chippenham Town is within walking distance of me, he can have a piggy back) and still won't get a game. - What one change would you make at your club? Some positivity from the top, negativity breeds negativity, and encourages the acceptance of mediocrity. The large percentage of fans don't accept it so why do the board? - Have you got the right manager? Given my previous answer this will seem strange, for the time being I beleive we have. Jimmy seems to strive for mediocrity and doesn't seem to possess the vision to turn us into genuine Old Firm challengers. However, until the men above him show that ambition there is no point in appointing a manager with greater ambitions for Aberdeen, as they will only get frustrated or desperately drive usi n the wrong direction due to lack of funds. - What advice would you give him? Ease off on the low factor sun protection otherwise you won't be arround long enough to accept that "dream" job in League One. - Which team do you most want to beat this season? Rangers - Opposition player you despise None, there is not one that is genuinely good enough or has the personality, to waste the time and energy. - Opposition player you secretly admire Thats difficult given the duffers that play for the supposed two best teams in the league. I would probably like to have McDonald on our books, given last years form. - Where will you finish? 1st
  8. Thinking the same thing while reading the article bigger NO, wealthier YES. Despite the low standing of Scottish football in England at this time, I think if you were to ask supporters of PNE or Plymouth if they thought their clubs were bigger than Aberdeen a lot would say no (or at least those that have been supporting those clubs for longer than ten years or so).
  9. Conflicting information... or... do we take it that Bakens, is not a player of quality.
  10. http://www.givemefootball.com/transferdirectory/resultspro.cfm?class=YT and thought it might be useful to those in charge at afc. Just come back fae holidays to find no new signings, when I left I thought we'd have two or three new faces in by the time I came back . Deluded fool!
  11. Lovell will score a shitload in League Two. He'll need too, think it's likely that Bournemouth will start next season -15 as well.
  12. You could suggest that as the Tims paid £200,000 for him and have deemed him not good enough, that clubs interested in securing his services would be sensible enough to tell them to fuck off. How long does his contract have to run? Would 3 years seem plausible? In which case he could be approached in January for a pre contract, whats another season to someone who has already sat out two. I'd also suggest that he is a player on the cusp of his "prime" footballing years who was playing well three years ago and possibly could be a good player, to suggest greatness is surely overexaggeration.
  13. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leeds_united/7433596.stm Not sure how accurate this story is but £1 million for a player who has played 13 times in two years?? Fucking Ridiculous.
  14. I'm beginning to think that having Calderwood is a solution to the problem. No investors will come in and put money into Aberdeen to help clear Stewarty Milnes debt, because let's face it, it is his debt. He was the one signing off on the spending, just because everyone else was doing it doesn't detract from the fact that he should have known that it was endangering the business. He can whine all he wants about what the fans expected, we were trying to keep up with the old firm etc. etc., because nowadays he doesn't seem to have a problem not doing what the fans expect, and he's certainly not trying to keep up with the old firm. Calderwood is managing to consistently finish top six and is bringing in revenue whether through player sales or cup runs. In effect it is Calderwood who is beginning to balance our books. If he or rather the club continues to do this, there may then be investors who may be willing to invest in Aberdeen Football Club. The downside being if Calderwood continues to get top six and another run in Europe, I would expect him to be offered a job in Englandshire, presumably some compo for us again more revenue. The real test will be if that does happen, the board will have to find someone else who can continue this, and in this I wouldn't have confidence in the board.
  15. Just noticed that on a Cheltenham forum I browse someome has posted this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southend_utd/7425562.stm asking whether Cheltenham should be looking at these players. Random response "I wouldn't want any of them, I think Harrold is close to signing for Bradford, Foran was rubbish in a poor Carlisle side and McDonald hasn't made any impression at roots hall." Nae good enough for Sarfend (Manager) Nae good enough for Cheltenham (Fans) Unveiled at Pittodrie tomorrow? ?
  16. So let me get this right Rangers fans dislike Celtic fans because Celtic fans worship Jesus' mammy, but, they do like Jewish folk even though the Jews don't believe Jesus was the son of God? THEN they wonder why normal folk think KNOW they are inbred fuckwits.
  17. Good name for an Aberdeen player anyway.
  18. I agree, BUT, this Bossu Character has been deemed not good enough to play regularly for: Barnet Rushden Gillingham Torquay Oldham Darlo Accrington Stanley (Who are they?) and Walsall The only club's supporters we could possibly expect to pass opinion on him are Hayes who he played for during the season they got relegated from the Conference. I expect we will not get a chance to pass judgement either.
  19. Then again Leighton has been working with Langfield and Soutar for the last two years so maybe his judgement has been affected. Seriously though this guy couldn't oust Clayton Ince over the last two seasons!!!
  20. Denes's website for any Hungarians out there or those that are not Hungarian that can read Hungarian http://rosa20.gportal.hu/
  21. Denise wouldn't fit with Jimmy's Giants idea as he's a short arse,he was only with us (Cheltenham) a short while and was off the pace for a good part of his loan but came onto a game towards the end. Great touch and good "football brain" i.e. always finding space and could pick a pass (sometimes too clever for some of our other players though), didn't look feart to get stuck in either. I have a funny feeling he may have been two footed also, will check with a mate who is bound to remember better than me. I was dissapointed we didn't get to keep him longer and think he would be a decent signing for us (Aberdeen). As an indication in his two (I think) months with us he got his own song, however obvious, so must have been doing something right.
  22. Wycombe, I'd say plenty of bargains to be had in League One and Two, McGleish is getting on a bit, think Easters with Clarke and Anderson at Plymouth now, don't think he went there for £20 million though . He was always about pace though never seemed to do much the times I saw him. Nicky Maynard (Crewe) impressed at the end of the season and Steven Gillespie (Cheltenham) has always impressed me, maturing into an excellent striker, if he stays at Cheltenham next season I would expect him to go for big money next summer.
  23. As reported elsewhere he hasn't scored all this season although I'm sure I read over the last couple of weeks that he had been playing on the wing. Still, I think he has a better scoring record in League one than a certain Mr L Miller.
  24. Played behind the Luton defence before the post administration fire-sale, and behind the Bournemouth defence that would not have been relegated were it not for the 10 point deduction. If he comes I'll reserve judgement but can't say I'm inspired by Cardiff's third choice keeper.
  25. Can't say I'm too impressed if this is true, just texted a mate who I thought may have seen him play this season asking if he could remember much about him and his comment was "Yeah I remember him flapping at the cross that we scored from". Its only one game and one persons opinion, but despite having "potential" the guys barely played throughout his career. If we are signing goalies from league one I see Steve Mildenhall is stalling on signing a new contract at Yeovil so also presumably available on a free.
