  1. yes we do need a midfielder, but it's a combatitive midfielder we're screaming out for not a lanky Stephen Hughes. I don't really care if the midfielder we bring in has any real talent so long as he's a ball winner and determined to give 100 % not things Hughes was reknowned for.
  2. bit of a hike on a saturday ( after golf ), will try to tie work in with midweek games but not worth the season ticket for the few home games I'd get to. Should catch a lot of the away games with the boy. Will do a couple of corp days with work to ensure club get their cash . That and the £58 kids kit x2, I know we're skint but no need to fleece the kids. No puns intended. Where are our less well off fans supposed to find the cash to kit out their kids, who probably buy chelsea kits from sport soccer and follow the prem instead.
  3. this is good news, between this and the other post it seems he knows what we really need. ( centre half and striker ). Hughes out of the picture now means we can look seriously with some wages freed up to get in the quality required. I also think Maclean could be the striker required if he is proven to be fit. Just a big fella for the back and we're good to go for europe
  4. job's a goodun
  5. A pleasant surprise, could be just the ticket
  6. Are we really waiting for Stephen Hughes before we do anything else?, the silence is deafening. I'd have thought as we ," possibly " tapped McGhee he might have been planning ahead. Having a bit of an anti-climax over the last week or two. Could someone at Pittodrie do something soon before I die of apathy!! I can't be the only one bored rigid surely?
  7. Hamann released by city, how good would he be as our lynchpin in midfield. Maybe he's made so much cash he'd come for the enjoyment of weekly action.
  8. no need to worry, Smith's signed for Brighton
  9. was a very promising player at utd, I thought he left them for better things, thought he'd gone abroad before england. Maybe failed to settle, in which case a move to us might well do the trick, or possibly he got a lot worse. I think he'd be a decent option and let mulgrew move up the park.
  10. gonna buy the boys one each tomorrow when in city, they love it!!
  11. was finally bored enough to look through the site. not much of note except the following: Marlon Broomes, may be in budget and a fine defender with presence Chris Doig, Scottish so may like a move north, also been around championship for a while. fitness questionable ( no vogts cap though ) Sean Gregan, great player but at 34 probably not looking to uproot up front: Michael bridges, fallen far ( maybe our budget far ) what a player he was Leroy Lita ( maybe not our budget far ) but probably short of options Vassell ( what a coup that'd be )might have to chip in for wages
  12. good luck to him, he's earned his payday after 5 years. Never a huge fan but never been less than decent for us. Hopefully this pushes us to get in a proper centre half to command things now the cover has gone and we apparently want another footballing midfielder. All the best
  13. Gilhaus for me the most memorable, of recent times the stewart effort at Parkhead sticks out for the pace, clinical finish and his dad nearly landing on me. It's rare we get what we deserve after an OF comeback. p.s now lives down the road from me and see him down the boozer now and again, what a waste of promising talent.
  14. I's like to see McDonald as skipper, everything good last season happened when he was involved. He seems to make things happen and have a hunger. This makes him the best man to inspire his buddies IMO. If not him I'd have zander but I'd prefer skipper in the middle. He's what we want to see in our team and seems to be very mature for our squad.
  15. I've got it, tying in the setanta disney theme. Under McGhee, Under McGhee, life will be better, he got celtics letter, now we're happee, under JC we slaved away, but now it's football all the way life will be better, got celtic's letter, under Mcghee to tune of under the sea from little mermaid ( apparently )
  16. At last the long awaited outcome, all the best to him as we go forward.
  17. bollocks, struggling for a disney pun, I'll be back
  18. he's holdin out just in case, the tims are notoriously stingy and will want Mowbray to break his contract. He won't shaft WBA and we'll all look right tits when McGhee gratefully accepts their tatty crumbs. Really hoping celts splash the cash or this could be diabolical
  19. there's so much emphasis on what JC would have done with money and what MMG will do with the funds available. Ultimately I feel the money has never been the only issue. I want the staff to bring on and develop our players not treat them as tactical monkeys positioned around their own shortcomiings. lets put the real work into playing the right way from the kids up and the club will flourish. Skills can be improved with the right coaching, yes even Mackie Mowbray's hibs were worth fuck all before he arrived, then they were selling for millions. This is what we need to aim for.
  20. Never said run wasn't good, Dnipro ( bet there wasn't much on them at the bookies ) and avoiding utter humiliation has never been an aspiration in my life so far!!!!!!!!!!! your perspecive is somewhat defeatist ( NOT JUST DEVOID LIKE MINE ).
  21. these dont include QOS, Queens Park or the pars do they??
  22. not a bad foil for Miller, lets hijack this fucking deal. the boy has the gift in front of the pokey
  23. 3rd would be good, 4th not end of world. 2nd or 1st better though as long as we don't go out of cups to diddy teams or vanish under pressure against dross I'm happy enough not to necessarily win, just see a new mentality. Europe will be a bit early, but groups would be a bonus for us and if we get there hopefully we've had time to gel.
  24. To be fair away from Pittodrie we were cannon fodder. At home sheer adrenaline got the players fired up. JC was a spawny b'stard. We got into europe via makalambay being a tit, not his tactical nouse. I'm happy that now we may try to keep the ball and force the issue every week instead of crossing our fingers we stop the other mob scoring and nick the odd breakaway goal.
  25. some women have no discretion these days
